  1. i put topic in this week and got a lot of feed bk because i started me 8mths old dog pup on rabbits i no its ok but bigger ones yes wait but every 1 is different me dog only been out 5times 3rd time out he got a ginger 1 with me old bitch shy ran it down a bit then he ran it well and killed it very happy with him but lots of lads were slagging me of 4 running pup 2soon what do all u lads think give me some feed bk so i can see all yr opinion,s by doing that u lads get to hear all there opinions thanks lads all the best with yr hunting

well lad i keep all fox dogs but start them on rabbits on lamp around 10/12 months,if ran much earlier a pup might start to bark and if they start that then they are in line to get the chop.no point in ruining a well bred dog through lack of common sense.

  2. Hi everyone Im looking to by a bull greyhound bitch pup soon,at the minute I have a collie whippet greyhound who's 4 and i have had since pup that has done everything iv asked of him for his size and wouldn't part with him for the world, but I am now looking for something bigger for other stuff,I have always liked bull xs just a personal opinion,I want a more racy one that will have the gears to catch,so I would be grateful if anyone has advise for me on good blood lines, what percentage is best, thanks for your time.

well lad first make sure it off good proven working stuff, thats the main thing.% is harder to say because they can be different litter by litter or pup by pup.i've two 3/8 5/8 sisters here, both good bitches but the bigger one is far slower than the smaller one.the smaller one catches more but to see her you wouldn't think it.the bloodlines is down to the dogs you know that the pups are off, just be sure that both parents are well proven singlehanded dogs and that they both have plenty of years work done.Don't buy any pup from young dogs that haven't proved themselves.Best of luck lad.

  3. i have a male whippet called snipe who is 13 month old, he has exeled all my expectations his first season and i dont doubt he will in the summer when it comes to ferreting. he dus have a yap when running but that is due to the previous owner entering him too early. his retrieve is coming on ( he will now play fetch with tennisball) so he is a good dog and is working well. i am wanting to stud him and am offering stud for free but should it take and a littter be born i would want a pup...... what do you all think of the idea and any advice or anything you wish to comment is welcome just try keep it serious ( i no what its like on here hahahah)

its no wonder there is so many shite dogs in england not worth the price of the bullet that should finish them.your dog is 13 MONTHS and to make it worse is BARKING when he runs.get a grip lad.if your yappy dog was over here he wouldn't be bred from but would be shot for making noise when he runs.

  4. wont do any harm?

if its retained it will turn cancerious after time and you would need to have it removed

if it has only one nut its a genetic fault and it will be passed on through breeding.

but id wait till the dog is a year old because it could just be late to drop. can you feel another nut further

up inside him or do you deffo think he only has one?

it is not certain that it would turn cancerous,i,ve seen several like that and never a problem, sometimes people worry too much.

  5. whats wrong with cross breed hounds. i hunt with a registered pack an whip in when need but i still enjoy my sundays out with my cross breeds. they can preform as good if not better they pure breed hounds an i can hunt covers where mounted packs will never be left. thats what has hunting ruined an nearly banned hunting is people with your attitude. were all out for an enjoyable day of sport whether with cross breed or pure. so why shouldn't people share there story's in hound section. y.i.s, sionnach

Sionnach, if your crossbreds hunt better than the pure breds then the registered pack your with mustn't be anything special.

Hounds or dogs running around making noise in a covert will make any game present leave it. Hunting starts when your fox hits country and that's when a hound comes into it's own.

If your talking about surrounding the covert with lurchers or/and guns then that's not hunting either, it's fox control.

And as for hunting nearly being banned by people with attitude ??? I disagree. It's un-organised hunting and gangs of lads who feel they can go where they want ,when they want doing what they want that seem to never be out of the papers and are making landowners anti hunting and barring all people from the land.

    JMHO.

covert?first time i heard that word from an irishman.

  6. hello i have a lurcher pup here 7months old and just noticed he has only 1 ball just looking to know will the other one drop or will it do him any harm.

    cheers twiggy

It maybe the dog has only one ball or it has not dropped if it hasnt dropped yet it never

will you will have to have it removed cos can cause trouble later in life

maybe he should first see will the dog make the grade.

i've seen various dogs over the years with one ball and it never affected any of them.

  7. i had problems twice in the last few years,i thought the dogs had a touch of mange both times and dipped them in tacktic but no good.what they had was yeast skin infections and had to go to the vet to sort it.im lucky that the vet i use is an excellent dog man and is not one of these new type vets that charge the earth.i had to get a lurchers chest muscles stitched last year under general anesthetic, did an excellent job-50 euro.

  8. the question makes no sense.the best and worst of dogs can be got from any of those crosses.its more important to know the ability of the parents of any pup you get.

ok sorry i will rephrase my initial post, all of the breeds mentioned will be of proven working lines.

well if all of those crosses are off proper working stuff then take your pick,it would be down to your choice.
