    I met a gentleman on the train down from Dublin last week. 85 years of age but as fresh as a daisy, We got chatting anyway and it wasnt long before we were talking dogs. To cut a long story short he was brought up on a farm that kept a lot of poultry and also kept racing greyhounds. I was surprised when he told me that the weapons they used to control the chicken killers were the best earth dogs in the area put over the retired greyhound bitches and the offspring often crossed back into a grey again to produce 1/4 earth dog 3/4 grey. when I asked what breed these earth dogs were he told me no

Maybe one day a proven stag from america or australia will land on our Islands ready to spread his working seed to the right proven deerhound or lurcher bitches. Possibly improving the hunting lurcher, and possibly not, but an exciting prospect none the less

If someone wants to pay 300 quid for a dog then they obviously think they are worth it and who are you or I to say a dog is worth a certain amount of money. Each of us are looking out a different window and life is short. We have the luxury of Choice. Cant believe I even bothered to write on this thread. Completely pointless.

    I cant say that I have mate but met a guy that had them in spain and he said that most of the breed yap at game. They are a nice alert looking racy type dog though. I would also be intereested to hear if anyonee had any look with them.

    My staffy has tore her cruciate ligament, she is on anti inflamitorys. has anyone had a dog with this problem and how did they treat it etc?

    Out of 30 people that voted to date 23 of them said they would use a proven american staghound for stud if available. If you could give reasons why you would use Stag blood in your line it would be great, Just so we can get an Idea of what you think they can offer to working dogs over here.
