  1. that's seriously NOT what I'm going to do, if I can find him a home away from us and his pack he will be fine, as my cousin had him for a few day's and he was good as gold, so sorry that's not an option.
  2. Thanks Frank no Ferret15, he's still here howling every minute of the day and night, I have spoken to the people I had in mind first and it's a no, so I've put him up on the net, my neighbours have gone away so at least I'm safe for now
  3. Happy Hunting everyone
  4. well said Molly I have never hit a dog and I don't intend to start, sorry but that's the way I am, and wouldn't my other 4 dogs be doing exactly what Binx is doing if it was down to me spoiling them to much? they have all been brought up the same way, I don't hear a peep out of the others unless the ruddy cat's next door wind them up, thanks for the advise anyway Foxdropper
  5. Thanks Molly, at the end of the day it's Binx I've got to think about, I was being really selfish now I think of it, I've put him through a lot over this last month for my own feelings and was totally blinded by them, I've now seen the light so to say, but as you mentioned it doesn't stop the pain
  6. Skinner, and it's Tina not Julie
  7. Skinner, I've been giving Binx Scullcap & Valerian tablets, for thunderstorms, and Serene-UM for bonfire nights, none of which had a very good effect on him, also tryed Dawg's Biscuits, which he loved but didn't do much, these are herbal, and I wouldn't feel right giving him stronger vet chemicals, even if it was short term, Mike came around yesterday and tried a few things, he put Binx in with the girls, and he then howled for Zak, he tried Zak in with the girls and Binx was quite for a while then started to whine again when the girls kicked him out of thier bed, even though it's more
  8. Ferret15, it looks like I'm going to have to seriously think about this option now
  9. Thanks for all the help everyone Molly, I did go around there lastnight with some ear plugs and a bottle of nice red wine, I knocked the door started to explain and say sorry and she told me to go away with some rather choice words Ferret15, haven't got my digi-cam at the moment as my bro has borrowed it for his hols, but I'll try to discribe it for you, he stands at the gate of the kennel run, looking at the kitchen window with ear's pricked up howling, I have a blind on my window which I keep close except for the smallest of gaps, he sometimes gets up on his hind legs with his fr
  10. Thanks Marko, I really do love my dogs, and will try anything and everything before I'll consider re-homeing just to make sure that I've tryed everything possible first, Binx is still in with Zak at the moment and still howling, can't put him into the sound proof kennel/my wooden shed, yet as the glue and the paint are not dry enough yet, will proberly be tommorow now, but had my daughter shouting in there before, and it's muffled the sound a bit, I hope to god this works! I've bought some roasted ham bones, some raw chicken wings and pigs ears for the dogs later, as that's when the ne
  11. Thanks for that Foxdropper, I do understand what your saying, I've trained and treated all my dogs the same way from birth, and it's only Binx that behaves like this *shrugs* anyway, this is the latest, Binx has been really good at my cousins, he whined for about 20 minutes every time they came back from a walk but then settled down again, I was very incouraged by this, he came back at 10am, and we did as advised, my cousin said nothing to him, I was inside the house and she took him straight around the back, through the ally way and gate to the kennels, she was completely ignoring hi
  12. yes Thank you ginga john, it's something that I haven't thought about, worth a try indeed and yeah Binx is very noisy and higly strung, unlike any other dog I've ever had, and I thought my last dog (a dobermann) was hard work due to being very intelligant and her getting bored really easy, I had to make up new challenges for her every day, otherwise she would become distructive, and stressed out, but at least that was something I COULD do, and did it for nearly 10 years until she had to be PTS through cancer everything I've tryed with Binx hasn't worked ................so far a
  13. I don't think you've read the whole thread, yes I took him out of the house to a kennel (with his best mate) he then came BACK INTO the house with his best mate and was still the same, even whining sat on the sofa with the family, the collar had only been charged for 2 hours, I tryed it myself on low and high, and also popped it on to my other dog Lexi and she barked without it affecting her at all, fully charged I wouldn't even go there with Binx, he's not cold they have heatlamps in both kennels, and also coats, that's the first thing I bought when looking into pure whippets, separation
  14. ITALLION STALLION, I realized that afterwards, I'd only charged it for a couple of hours, maybe that's why it was so low voltage even on high, but Binx still reacted the way he did even without full charge, and thats why Lexi wasn't bothered one bit by it, I'm not even going to go there fully charged on Binx, Ferret15, thanks for the help, I'll be following your advise when he returns on Sunday, by the way, Binx is a different dog, so my cousins say's, he's been for a walk (kept on a stretch lead) and did try to run to another dog and my cousin said he wouldn't come back until she pulled h
  15. well Binx went to my cousin's this morning, I phoned up after him being there for a couple of hours and she said he was cuddled up to her on the sofa watching TV I've tryed this and had him on the sofa with me and all he did was this high pitched whine, I'll phone up a bit later again to see how he's doing, I hope that when he settles in a bit more his howling doesn't come back.
  16. Thank you very much, just phoned and she's not in at the moment, so will try again later, have taken it all on board about my body language too when he returns
  17. Thanks Ferret15, it's funny you mention him going to stay with someone else as my cousin was saying the same thing a week ago, she's willing to take him in for a bit to see how he is, she's not got any other dogs and it's just her and her boyfriend, I'll give her a call and ask if she's still willing to take him in for a few days, and then I will follow the rest of the advise you have given, anythings worth a shot right now! thanks again!
  18. good luck with the pups
  19. that's what's really worrying woodga, and has led to many sleepless nights, he's so highly strung and has so many faults, this morning I have recieved a complaint letter from the council about the noise, and I'm on pins at the moment!!
  20. ferret15, thanks for that, yes I have tryed Binx and his kennel mate back into the house, but he's still the same, and I just don't have the room for 5 dog's in my house anymore, he is right next to and can see the 3 girls in the run ajoining him, I haven't tryed all 5 back in the house as I've just mentioned there's no room, if this is the case about the pack thing, how can I resolve it?
  21. Thank you for that Skycat, I'm just totally stuck as to what to try now? I only tryed the collar as a last resort, given all the positive comments off here, needless to say, I won't be putting it on him again. Lexi is still wearing it and has been barking at the cat's next door still, (not fazed one bit) it's set on low, I'll just let her out of her run instead to get the bloody things!
