  1. You might try using compressed air from a long nozzle to charge each compartment to blow it on centre again then follow up with the old trick. Remember the .303 Pull Troughs. Usually someone would cut to big a patch and get it stuck followed by a big heave-ho resulting in a broken off P, trough added to the bargain. Practice then was a wire or welding rod heated on gas stove etc. to burn it out. Only applies heat to the patch and wont cook anything else. Better than turning using meths and lighting, cooking everything else if you overdo it or turning it into a rocket.
  2. Personally I don't like to fit a lamp onto a rifle as it makes it heavier and out of balance. I find lamping using this method fatuges my arm muscles making me shakey when a shots on. Also I like to look at things with the lamp I do not wish to point a rifle at. I am R. handed so I hold lamp in L.hand and shoot with foreend across left forearm American Frontier style. This leaves my left wrist flexable to get the light and crosshair alligned. It may take a little practice to get your hand eye muscle cordination programmed, but it can be very steady as you eliminate the use of left wrist o
  3. Used those M.Masters for many years, good for what they are meant for, .22 Rims. Seen a few xhairs from other scopes broken by airrifles, huge jolting and opposing forces .Reinforced stronger reticules fitted these days on Airrifles scopes. Nikko Gameking on my BSA Century .22 Rim. is proving itself, very nice glass and adjustments. Its AO too so ok for a R/F or C/Fire.
  4. Your 25yd group looks promising and indicates you are not a bad shot. Is the front objective Adjustable or fixed? You might have a parralax problem. Easy to check and easier with scope dismounted. Put the scope on top of a post so you can go hands free. Look at something clearly defined , like the top of another post at 100yds. Pack the scope up so the xhair is across top of distant post and leaving it steady, move your eye up, down left and right slightly and if the xhair does a waltz the parralax is incorrectly set. No problem if it is a AO model but you can reset them yourself if you
  5. I like the Weaver individual bases. They will probably be listed under the Interarms Mauser section. These rifles are popular Down Under and I don't hear any complaints. The seperate Weaver bases allow ejection without denting cases for reloading and allow easy access to breech and good visability for checking safety status re. empty action and chamber. The Weaver bases are economical. That brass base probably was made for some Mauser similar to your rifle when other options weren't freely available.
  6. Can't beat the aroma of the Youngs ( not the modern P.H. knockoff). I have good results for outside cleaning and preservation with a mix of clean engine oil (20-50, 15-40) and W.D.40 in parts % oil to 20%W.D.40. When I first mixed it and wiped it over the lettering on a blued rimfire I noticed it didn't fill the lettering as some oils do but attached itself into the letters like shrink plastic effect. I described it as a liquid magnet, this being the limit of my chemistry knowledge. A friend who works in oil and gas and is highly qualified in chem. confirmed this. She stated it makes a
  7. Get your self a powder thrower,I have a Lee , looks a bit tinny but works fine.I weigh every 5 charges to monitor consistancy and all is fine.Sure speds things up.The Speer no 10 manual has a easy to follow pic and written guide to follow. When I started to read reloading I thought I couldn't cram it in but the Speer manual was A1 re. practical/ visual interpretation. Its simply written and just like learning to count. Take a little time get a simple well laid out manual and you will be fine.Toni.
  8. Nothing wrong with a Lee Turret Pres.Got mine in '84.Done .303,6.5x55,223,222,7mm Mauser, and heaps of others.I sized a .270 down to 6.5x55 to test sizing lube and the shoulder was pushed down about 10mm and formed fine. This was extreme pressure and the Lyman lube worked fine with no dents.A Cobber had dents in thin wall pistol cases hence my experiment. You can double charge a pistol case but not a rifle case. When loading a batch perform each step on all 20 cases.Don't complete the process one case at a time as a step can be omitted on a round. You can then monitor your Q.Control stage by stag
  9. With H.V. on at 25yds,will be 3/4" high at 50 yds,on again at 75 yds and 3 1/2 low at 100. With subs on at 25yds,will be on again at 50 yds,3"low at 75 yds and 8" low at 100 yds. Best Wishes from N.Z.
  10. Hello Dave, Rifle is .22 rimfire.A phillipino Stirling. They also make a very economical bolt action. The bolt action has a bolt modelled off or very close to the BSA Supersport.Quite dense wood 22'' barell and mag release inside trig. guard like Parker Hale centrefires.Very secure arrangement so no lost mags. They have a loading ramp and feed beautifully even with the conepoint stuff.I tried a mates one on paper recently with Winchester Power point (Australian made) and put 3 shots into 7.5 mm at 25 yds total not centre to centre. These rifles are full sized so a bit big for me but I do like h
  11. Hello Richie,Horse Hunts were never popular here but most provences have a hunt organised. From what I have seen though they seem to hunt areas the farmer has grazed to minimize pasture damage.Any countryman knows that these areas are temporarily vacated by hares until they grow anew.Anyway longer pasture will stop hooves pugging soil in spring when they seem to do the chase. Our springs can be wet and in my area I get 3.6 metres of rain annually.Heres a pic of the veiw outside.Mt Egmont 8260 Ft. Best wishes Toni

Here's a Stirling Model 20P semi with one of our local hares. Stripey the cat used to come over the paddocks and find for me when I had shot.He still enjoys a feed of game at age 19+ and loves his outdoors. Best Wishes To You All. Toni.
