  2. any welsh houndswe have will mark to ground some stronger than others . as long as the hounds your breeding from mark there is a good chance that the pups will . harriers that i have seen dont want to stay at a mark but leave looking to start another hunt .

When you got a pack of welsh hounds marking strong you better get there soon because ive seen it many times in shallow spots they have dug it out before we had got there! They are a very hardy determained animal!

  3. Gun in good working order everythings works as it should! Woodwork not in the best conditions few scrapes and dents! And the open sights have been taking off by the previous owner. I bought a scope for it about a year ago. This gun is not having any use with me, collecting dust in the wardrope!

    Any decent offer considered!

  4. heres a pic of an old dog that was as good as ANY BREED OF TERRIER.

you well never see this type of PLUMMER terrier again.... FACT..

IF ONLY. DAYS GONE BY NEVER WILL THE WORKING [EARTH DOG] PLUMMER SINGLE HANDED DOG BISTOW US AGAIN, NICE PICTURE

I have a little plummer bitch up in the kennells coming up to 5 year old that i will dig anything with! Not very often she wount see the job through! she struggles with her size sometimes tho :hmm:

  5. years ago when i was livin at home with my folks before i was allowed to keep dogs me and my mates used to lamp a full collie. He caught a few alright but lookin back at it now i realise all we were doin was educating the rabbits .For every one rabbit he caught he could miss 15 :icon_redface: .We were only around ten at the time so even gettin the odd rabbit was great

when i was a kid i used to stay with a mate who lived on a farm, he had an air rifle and when ever he pissed his parents off they used to take the gun of him for a short while... b*****ds and all we had left were the two jacks. We were keen as mustard back then more so than now, we used to take the two of them lamping, never caught any rabbits came close a few time! lol hhow we tried! haha but what the two would do was hold the bigger stuff! we still talk about the big nasty dog fox :whistling: we caught years on!

  6. does anyboy think a kelpie would be better than a collie? the ones iv seen have been light built.

i know what u mean! have seen some collie types that look like they would pull a plough! but on the other hand seen some very racey, lightly built dogs! the variation in the breed in my opinion is huge. I have not seen or had much to do with kelpi's but the appear to be more standard in appearance.

  7. I've got an 8 month old pup here, not what you'd expect, but he's very fast and agile, obedient & retrieves, when he matures i'm hoping to have a go with him on the bunnies. If he's any good i'll reveal him for a giggle :tongue2:

Ime in the same boat as you, didnt mention ealier but i have a collie/kelpi pup here coming up to 6months old. Traning going really well, the other day i took the terrier out for a look and i thought ide take the pup along for a walk as well, as the bitch was searching one earth, the sheepdag pup had a funny five minutes and was flying up and down the bank around the trees like a idiot! at one stage i was hoping nothing would bolt as i was unsure what would happen!lol and after seen my mates sheepdog work today got me thinking on the idea! ill have to give it a go and see what happens i suppose.. one way to find out!

  8. Was up on my mates farm ealier went out on the quad to give him a hand to feed some sheep and watching one of his sheepdogs work, it could fly from one side of the field to the other in no time a fast little bitch! and could turn well to!

got me thinking wether she would be any use on the lamp? obviously shes not going to be quick enough to catch everything! but i think she would catch a fair bit! just out of interest has anybody seen a full sheep dog work out lamping?

  9. I know that this should really be put in another new post and i really am not trying to hijack the thread but barbed wire is just a leftover f**k up from the second world war or neccesary to keep livestock in this day and age ?

All the best for the dog! hope everything comes good!

have asked that question myself about the barbed wire with the farmer that i keep my dogs with and he said if there werent then the fence would not stay up long, cows would lean on the fences and push them over! then i asked him again on what they used before barbed wire and he said well laid hedges, and with the lack of grants to lay hedges and the cost of maintain them barbed wire is here to stay i am affraid.

    fingers crossed again!

  10. Gun in good working order everythings works as it should! Woodwork not in the best conditions few scrapes and dents! And the open sights have been taking off by the previous owner. I bought a scope for it cant remember the make not expensive around £50 about a year ago. This gun is not having any use with me, collecting dust in the wardrope!

  11. Cant you just tie one on a lead and put it on a stake where you want it??

I am not, But im guessing if you keep it as a pet for a couple of weeks before, you'll be pretty intent on keeping it alive :gunsmilie:

well, do yourself and us a favour, and check out the defra website, and LEARN THE LAW then, using a live animal as bait, wild or pet is totally illegal, then it'll save you looking like a muppet with the above posts

  12. I am selling my honda fourtrax es 350 2002 model. I bought it 18 months ago and have only used it a few times it is in good condition . first to see will buy im only selling it because it is taking up space in my garage. I am lookin for around £1850 ovno no stupid offers tho .

is that the model that constant 4x4?

  13. well here's what im wanting to know,

would yous breed off a young bitch that has only been dug to a few times and is showing good signs to a dog that has 6 good seasons under his belt?

now, pups would only be for own use and nothing more.

    no smart comments either!

That's exactly how I would feel! What would you do if that bitch after a season or two would jib!? And you have a few pups out of her about the place, I would worry that the pups might turn out the same way. But saying that but the

time the bitch was tested the dog might not be about! It's the risk you take? If the pup was well breed with a good bloodlines and her family were all well tested earth dogs then I would worry a bit less, also the father would have to be a1 quality and worth to be breed off incase he was lost! It up to you and it's your risk and call!

    cheers

How many digs she had mate? If its something you was really wanting to do n was going to keep all the pups to see how they go then cant really go wrong, only thing I would worry about is how you would feel if the bitch threw the towel in?
