  8. Hi Mubz2cool, Couldn't send PM as system stated that you couldn't accept new messages?! Best offer I've had in years! I could fly up to Scotland, as my local airport has daily flights. Have you any dates in mind? Where abouts in Scotland is your permission? Send a reply by PM. Thanks a bundle. New Barn
  9. Thanks both of you for the advice. I don't have a Deer calibre rifle & when I say novice I mean no experience at all in Deer. I will give them a try.
  10. Hi, Are there any Deer management syndicates with vacancies in the Dorset area that are willing to take on a novice. Or a deer stalker looking to mentor someone for cash reward! When I say novice I have many years experience in rough shooting vermin etc & have a SGC & FAC, but no previous experience in Deer. I realise it's a different ball game, but at least I have a good safety understanding & awareness. I am honest, reliable, 40+ & have a responsible job in large company where I have worked for over 20 years. You have to start somewhere. I realise thi

  12. Had a few light strikes recently on my o/u spanish boxlock. The firing pins were not brilliant, so had some new one's made....nice job! The other problem is that the main compression spring that forces the hammer forward on the lower barrel is weaker than the top one. Any idea where I can get a replacement spring or match one up? Or could I just shim up the spring to compensate?
  13. I haven't been out ferreting for a month due to work, weather & the flu!......so it was good to finally get back out today. I took three of my jill's & went to one of my permissions in the Isle of Purbeck. Cold but sunny.......& the odd flurry of snow. Today I used a mixture of long nets & purse nets due to the position of the warrens I circled the long net around a small group of bushes & placed two ferrets down. 1st bunny of the day didn't bolt & was caught by Sybil (my lad named them!), luckily my dad was near the entrance to the hole & managed to grab th
  14. Just read your thread. I came to the same decision myself when I was out with the ferrets yesterday......I live in deepest Dorset, so sadly I won't be applying. Picking the new right partner is going to be hard. Good luck
  15. Just wondering if there is anyone in the Isle of Purbeck area of Dorset that has an interest in or works ferrets?..............or maybe lurcher's.
  16. My six are doing exactly the same. They regulate the temp of their bed area by kicking bedding in & out. Us owner's worry too much!
