  1. your spot on with what your saying mate very dissapointing You didn't want a pink doll with your name on it then? I completely agree, and the EofE organisers are very strict about what they will allow inside the fenced area set aside for the Lurchers. It would be good if they encouraged more Country sports stalls, there were very few stalls that even sold decent boots this year. These people run the show: http://www.eastofengland.org.uk/index.htm Why not email them?
  2. I don't post on here much, but wanted to say congrats, and that Alfie looks like a real bruiser in the 10 weeks photo. He's beautiful- well done.
  3. As this poster says I have found the same, ordinary donations are used for everyday stuff, for expensive surgery/treatment if you don't agree with it you don't donate.
  4. Of course there are some donations that come in unmarked, but I guess most of it will be through the just giving website, and through paypal donations with instructions on- eg "this is for the building fund". The charity will be run like a business, and have different accounts for the building (I suspect- especially if they do books for charity comission)- but if a paypal donation is made for the building they cannot ue it for something else- if they do and someone reports them- someone who deosn't agree with what they have spent the money on- they'll be at risk of having their charity status
  5. As has already been said, if money has been donated for a building fund it cannot be used for vet fees- the charity comission won't allow this.
  6. good point there. Unless it has changed- the national dog tattoo register will register any tattoo details for a registration fee of £10 (which is for life)
  7. It didn't make any sense with my colleagues parents either- they were fit and healthy, and young enough to look after the kids. But they didn't fit the criteria to apply for adoption of any child- no allowances were made that the kids would end up being cared for by family who had looked after them for years.
  8. But it depends what you mean by suitable? To be suitable they have to pass medicals, and be under a certain age. This happened to a colleague at work- her parents cared for and tried to adopt her brothers children- sadly they were deemed too old (mum late 40's/dad early 50's) and failed a medical because one of them had slightly raised blood pressure. The children were taken, adopted and have never seen the grandparents again- as the "new" parents didn't want the children to be confused - and yes that happens too- my neighbour adopted a child- a girl aged 4- she had a brother aged 8 and
  9. PAH = pets at home- they do a brand of food called Wainwrights- and Murphy is fine on the salmon and potatoe. My vet advised against barf and even meat from butchers because it isn't manufactured the content of fat/meat etc will obviously change slightly which can be enough to set them off again. I have also since read that dogs with any kind of digestion problems often do better on a more expensive food for the same reason i.e a cheaper brand of food will change the ingredients slightly depending on season to get value for money- a more expensive one will continue to buy the sam
  10. I've got a dog with IBD- has your dog had a definite diagnosis of IBD from an endoscope? It's just unusual that your vet has said he has IBD and is trying to control it with diet only- I wouldn't have thought you could control it from the beginning just with diet- IBS maybe, but not IBD. In the last 2 years Murphy has only had one very short period off any medication. What foods have you tried? Whether it is IBD or IBS a general rule is to go to a different source of protein- tinned chappie is one of the best foods for dogs like this, then try a dried food with fish and rice or po
  11. We've tried loads of different stuff most of it crap The best are energizer head torches: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Energizer-Wilkinso...0055&sr=8-2 They're economical on batteries- unlike a lot of the others, and durable. Wilkinsons sell them.
  12. Sadly it's true, DON'T trust the pound at all, go round them, I've picked up 2 greys from pounds- 1 was a tiny, long coated saluki lurcher, the other a brindle bull lurcher I've also known them to get the bloody sex wrong :icon_eek:
  13. I've heard about the hip problems too Can't understand the guy- why mark the dogs as his with a tattoo- then just mass breed and not give a s***t when they end up in the pound as pups? :wallbash:
  14. Cheers for the replies! I found this site, but haven't got this amount of money http://www.bossproducts.co.uk/detail.asp?id=1499 Looks like I'm on the hunt for rocking horse doo-dah or hens teeth
  15. If so are they good? And where can I find a second hand one?
