  1. cos ur giving them away maybe, but i think mate if you seriously want to stop working your dogs then they are better off with someone else who will work em, can see dogs work first? mate of mine wants one for this season, lost his.
  2. id be up for that trip too. its a good idea, some sort of collective of farmers in an area, each person payed almost like day-ticket fishing, and the landowners all get split, also it means someone is out looking after land being responsible and should keep idiots away that cause trouble.
  3. nice one mate, they aint easy coming round our way at all. i found a little spot the other day with a few bunnys in, dog had one good run but bunny scaled a wall and i called him back cos i didnt know what was on the other side. was gonna let you know where it is, literally 5 mins from sheffield let us know if you fancy it.
  4. like i was literally just walking the dog mate, im just into rabbiting now he knows to leave them well alone
  5. could of got me in trouble
  6. havent technically started mine, but when he was 8 month he was already trying, jumped on a big stag and nearly got hurt when he bucked him off, wasnt expecting the deer there and wasnt watching him. taught me a lesson
  7. yeah cant argue with how keen the little bugger is, certainly got massive prey drive, id say he has only had maybe 15-20 good slips and has done 4 so not bad considering i dont have a clue what im doing..
  8. yeah same here mate was a nice change to not have to run, hide, clamber through/over hedges etc. we have a colliexwhippet and a bullx. both learning and its taking a while, but they starting to come good, running straight down beam now and trusting me theres something there even if they cant see it, bullx just needs to get better at striking the rabbit, collixwhippet seems to like daytime best.
  9. yeah you might be right about people not lamping it, other thing is its a long walk no road access and lots of fences and gates, etc to cross and everyone here seems to love tearing about fields and lamping out the window. think your right though, need a good look at it in the daylight really.
  10. Last night was awesome nice and windy and real dark so we took our usaul route by foot which takes around two to three hours good night, a fair few bunnys out for our normal haunt but real long way off and not much for our young dogs, they still getting the hang of it, as are we. anyway after one rabbit with pretty big ears to my mates collie whippet earlier (in the day through scrub) we really wanted a good run for my dog so we pressed on, but as usual friday night and the best places are already being done. basically the point is we have been really struggling to get much on the lamp at
  11. yeah if you ever need a partener in the area mate id be up for it, like run for your life says it does help, although i have one of them big bull x's so maybe not what your lookin for. only starting him this season though so just bunnys, could do with a hand really
  12. id come out if you dont mind taking someone new to the game like, just starting my pup this season, he aint seen much yet but he's well keen
  13. i know just how you feel mate, i live in sheffield, can barely find a run round here. i go down near newark where a mate of mine lives and have a few runs round there, it gets hammered though and they aint easy, well lamp shy. if i find anywhere local ill let you know mate.
  14. friends dog, colliexwhippet, is sound, same as mine when on his own, in fact he probably only chased to join in with mine, he is normally calmer. they will always be worked together so they need to be ok together, and ill be working fields next to sheep so cant lead him up as soon as im close.
  15. yeah every walk i take himon now im going to try and go through sheep keep at it, cos unfortunately the small amount of permission i have has sheep surrounding it, and a lot of the guesting does too feathered friend, hit the nail on the head, the last couple of months he is constantly testing me, seeing how far he can push things. a lot more testing that other dogs ive had in the past (mainly retrievers though). cheers for the help
  16. help anyone? got a 13 month bullx just starting himslowly this season he still seems very silly and puppy like, but i aint complaining, he can take all the time he needs, just letting him have a few runs each week on the lamp for now. i have been stockbreaking him for 6 months now, thought he had it sorted, walks with me through sheep fine off the lead seems interested in the fact they are there but doesnt look like he wants to chase em, but just recently he has given chase on two occasions to sheep, just running with them not striking at them at all, yet. i dont have anywhere to s
