This fella came and sat down about 18m from me. My rifle was already packed away so I took my friends new Hatsan Mod 70 that has been Tune & Lubed with Custom trigger and a Nikko Stirling 4x32AO AirKing Scope. Ready, Aim, Fire! hehehhe Cheers, Roger!

Here you go. In Afrikaans we call them "Rooi Vink" Directly translated to English "Red Finch" Roger! Nice looking bird, how big are they? I would say between 75mm - 100mm Roger!

They are pretty, we have them in yellow aswell. The females are very dull and a greyish brown. Problem is, in town they are noisy and they strip the tress to build nests. Very arrogant towards other birds. Roger!

A farmer asked us to help on his farm. Between the woodies and finches they are destoying his sunflower crops. The finches and woodies are considered vermin in towns and on farms. Roger!

Yes, our "Bos duiwe" (directly translated "Bush Pigeons") are the same as your Wood Pigeons. Roger!

Hi, Thought I would share this as we have been out a few times and I have never posted about it. OK here goes: We left my house at 04h30 on Saturday morning. Got to the farm at 04h50. We were setup and ready by 05h15. As soon as it started getting light the bush around us started coming alive. We, for the 2 hours we were there I got 1x woodie and 2x red finches. My friend took down 5x finches. Unfortunately we didnt take any pics of the fallen . Air Rifles used: Myself -> Gamo Hunter, GasRam, VT-1 Trigger, Nikko Stirling 4-12 x42 Airking scope 780fps. I have a gasram in 3 of my guns. Takes away alot of recoil, a little bit of noise and helps alot with accuracy. Roger! -

Thanks to Zini I went out again yesterday. Watching his footage and reading alot helped me. I took down 2 woodies, 1 head shot and 1 neck shot. Took down 3 finches all body shots, they small. Only hit 1 finch and 1 woody that flew away. Its like a 110% better day than Wednesday. Guys, listen when Zini speaks, he knows his stuff. Keep well, Roger!

I went to a field yesterday. Shot 3 woody's that you see the feathers all over the place but they fly away. That was at 25m. I am using a Gamo Hunter 440 with VT-1 trigger, 667N GasRam and a Nikko Stirling 4-12x42 scope. I have cronied the gun with AA Fields 8.4gr 4.52 pellets at 780fps. Is it my shooting ability that sucks or does the gun have too little power? With JSB Exacts 4.52mm 10.5gr pellets it runs a 690fps. I am very dissapointed in my shooting yesterday and I am starting to think about buying a new gun (another...) Please help, Roger!

Would you guys say I am waisting time with .177? What is the biggest kill I can make with .177? Pigeon, Rabbit, etc? Thanks, Roger!

I have heard around these parts the guys use the Air Arms field 8.4gr 4.52 for targets and the JSB 10.5gr 4.52 for hunting. Roger!

So I got the rifle yesterday. I didnt set in the scope, left it as it. Didnt have time. Took it out and shot a pigeon at 20m on a telephone line. I shot him in the back (sounds bad ) but he dropped down immediately. Unfortunately into the neighbours yard . I will take the gun to the field this weekend and set it in properly. Its bulky and heavy, but then again, so am I Roger!
