  6. yea always good to cull those. weird when you find one with a problem (sometimes serious like this) but the rest of them is in great condition... are we supposed to be able to see pics?
  7. Hi Declan. How did your interview go, did you get everything that you asked for? Mine came thro 3 weeks after the interview, & amazingly an open ticket on 1st application. Steve the interview went really well and i got exactly what i wanted (.22, .243, benelli semi-auto) mine arrived 6 days after the interview. only thing is that it is closed but unsurprising seeing as i am not even 17 yet and a condition on the .243 that i must be supervised until i do DSC 1 or i can get a letter in the future from a mentor saying i am sufficient in all needed to be a stalker.
  8. That's interesting. Who is your police force fella? I have the DSC1, but the FEO says that they might still want someone to mentor me for a while, and the guy from Wilts who did the land check said that they hardly take notice of the DSC1 at all, and want all new apps for deer to be mentored! :S WTF is the point of having a qualification, and then ignoring it? I know that each constabulary can set their own conditions and rules within the provisions of the law, but if one place takes DSC1 into account but another doesn't, I think there could be an argument there! Anyway, congrats fella
  9. my FAC arrived today less than a week after my interview (last thursday). i have got the .22 rimmy, benelli semi-auto and .243 on it however the condition on the .243 is i have to do DSC 1 or be supervised, however he did say that after a year i can get a letter from someone who i have stalked with a lot saying i know how everything works and have the condition taken off. i look forward to getting out on my own, whenever i want! i must thank those of you who replied to my "FAC interview" topic as it proved very useful!
  10. Correct. Just be relaxed & pleasant. Make sure you have a good reason for each of the calibres that you are applying for (e.g target shooting, vermin, small game, foxes, etc) & that you are aware of safety when shooting: It is an offence to have any firearm in a public place, unless safely covered with a securely fastened gun cover that prevents it from being fired. Never load a gun until it is safe to fire it. Always ensure that you are authorised by the landowner or person with the sporting rights to shoot where you intend to, and that you know precisely where the bo
  11. hey everyone i am sure it is going to be okay but does anyone have any last minute tips for my FAC interview on thursday? thanks, Declan
  12. this is true but what you must remember is that people, especially city dwellers who would know no better, read the news and immediately think that these foxes are going to be mauling all their children and will go out and buy an air rifle. then the problem is that they dont understand what the consequences of this are to people like you and i. I am not saying that this is reason for them to shoot foxes with airguns as we all know that is an awful idea but many people dont know any better as they have not been educated about it.

  17. i know...it is so lucky, it is the best thing ever. fish splashing everywhere!#
  18. well a few are stocked but any under 4 lbs are wild but they are cracking sport and are quite a challenge to catch. Did you use a dry or a nymph or a worm? even a 3lb Brown is a large river specimen now a days. dry...that is all they allow there. but its my favourite way of fishing, so exciting when you see them come up about to take

  21. some pics from a great days fishing on the avon
  22. went out after supper to our next door field where is saw a lot of rabbits. the problem is that there is no good place to hide and wait and stalking them is quite tricky there. however i had a go and crawled up to the fence where the grass was just long enough to conceal me. i slowly got up and rested my AA s200 on the fence post at which point all the youngsters ran off to their burrows but a few full growns waited on the edge looking out so i took aim on one and within seconds it dropped like a stone... you can just see the entrance hole in the corner of the eye
