well we managed 143 for 444 , some shot better than others, i did well with my bosses wifes 28 bore bagging 15 pheashants, 4 part , a woodcock and a brace of rabbits, so im well happy,

put a similar thread up last year, and got a shit response, but never mind.. im shootin wed , thurs at mine , friday shootin, and sat beating for a keepers day.
il post a update as the days go by... who else is out for there long awaited turn on the peg???
-
yes it would, there called lofters, usualy put them in a beech or oak (bare and big) which is amongst a fir wood, pigeons will land in this type of tree before dropping into the warmer trees to roost.... but yes buy a lofting pole and decoys and get going
-
deker.. a nine with a tight enough choke will kill a woodie at that distance, may be not a idea shot size but it IS capable of doing it..
as for what your saying about sako post, i think you may have looked at it a little too deeply... a eg of what i think he was getting at... you can kill a stag with a 45 50 grain 22250 if the bullet placement is correct , (not saying its right to do so) but there aint always the need for a 100 plus grain 270 bullet

went out on the geese today, id been invited about 6 or 7 times over the last month or two but with shoots at home and beating / picking up else where i just couldnt manage to get away..
i arrived at 7 and met my good friend and host with a client he has with him for the week, we made sharp work of the hide and putting the pattern out, and by what i could see of the field the geese had hammered it, no wonder the farmers are crying out for us to keep them off the fields..
they started in skiens of nice managable sizes, 5 to 10 s , then as the morning wore on they besame larger and larger... we called down a few skiens of well over 350 which we just videoed coming in and let go away again un touched
, we must be turning soft,
not quite sure what the farmer would have said mind..
we ended up with a big bag of greys, (id mention how many but know fine well that it would get jumped on by a few, and really cant be aresed
..) all of which were cooled and packed away into a brand new merc ready for the trip back to italy
, at least they ALL were getting used...

if your seeing 30 in a night on 400 acres (there obviously will be more there that your not seeing) that to me is a un healthy number to have on that acreage...
-
a good point deker... mine dont mention it but will be getting that changed.... but if a fox aint vermin what is it ???
-
Is that Monar????????
if i remember rightly you could be right, certainly rings a bell.

we were in a bale hide, pigeons deinately feeding on here, sometimes landing few hundred metres away from us, bale hides been out a few weeks, when shooting from bale hide , do people still put a net over to cover some of top, first time i shot from bale hide
yes always, only leave a shooting window at the front, from say from ten too two, thats presuming your killing area is at 12
-
what conditions dictated a heart shot rather than a neck or head ?? just curious
-
your hide quality??? or were they feeding on this particular field, if there is something they like on a park a mile away your losing a battle you cant win... they need to want to be on the particular one ur set up on
-
good write up... never heard of that before, only thing i can think off is that he was attacking his shadow ?? but pritty sure there not that reflective to be able to see him self... none the less hes a good lookin beast
-
any shell with the right chokes WILL kill a woodie up to 50 yards, wether it be a heavy 5 or light 9 ..to much it put upon the size, weight, etc of a cartrige but its all down to pointing your gun in the right place to start with....
-
a little bit of everything you mentioned, bar price, as often in life you TEND to get what you pay for

lads all i can say is theres not 2 many terriers that i know of could ov done any thing with this spot but ask your self this "Q" how long could you fight for this spot only had two holes but we got marks a least 25 meters both side ov them and to the top ov the bank reading 5.5 meters deep when we broke through it just look,d like me sticking my head through the roof ov your front room on any normal day the little fcuker would probley bolt but what can you digg to apart from fresh air with tubes like that so come on lads dont be given all this the dog should stick to your quarry shite
so how come it bottled it up for 4 hours or how ever long it was if the tubes are like that
-
there was more midges inside that bothie than there was out side
-
a very good read, well done, i take it you no longer live in the area?
no, thank feck !!!
-
The fox is lucky. Because the dog spewed. Simple as.
got to say if mine held it while i dug 2.8 then let it past when it knew i was close to breaking through id not be a happy chap...

come on thats what happens every day in this game ,things get killed AND INJURED.wake up and smell the coffe .they didnt do us any favours as shooters bad gun tuition then leaving a winged duck till the end of the shoot and why wasnt there a shooting person in the group two every other persuasion was coveredas a keeper, my pickers up on a driven day will send there dogs for runners / wounded birds but will not pick dead birds till the end of the drive, so if they did leave a one till the end there tits

They charge about 40 quid a bird where I go I think and they often have 300+ bird days $$$$
but on the flip side take a second to think how much it cost to put that one bird into the larder ... it aint cheap... and not many shoots make a profit... fact
Can not belive my eyes
