  1. Just to add....I've been in law enforcement here for over 17 years . When I worked the street , I literally never had an issue with anybody with a CCW permit. Model citizens. You pull them over for something and the first words out of their mouth " I am a CCW holder and I am carrying", I now know that I am dealing with a law abiding member of society who was driving 65 mph in a 50. "Slow it down some and becareful" and on they went. Also, statistically speaking they almost do not even register when it comes to firearms incidents.
  2. How can you try and tell us what we need when your country has the problems it has with guns? I don't know where you get this idea that when everybody is armed then crime goes down, if that's the case then why has your country got such a bad track record with gun crime? I'll take this one with much regret, I already know, but....most of our crime stats come from major US cities have very strict gun laws . Many come close to yours in the UK. But guess what ? Crime rates remained high.....why ? Because only law abiding citizens obeyed the gun laws. Than Florida finally came to t
  3. Thanks, Daveo....pretty much echoes my thoughts of when I saw pics of some of the digs you guys have done.
  4. Certainly not Buffalo Bill....more like an Annie Oakley wanna-be. However, using Airedales in coyote depredation is not a new activity. Check out this archives pic I found of guy named "Coyote Jack" and his family from Oregon.
  5. http://www.tripleoddbuck.com/video/doggincoyotes.wmv Another great example of how dogs are used in calling....not terriers , but we'll have to let that slide. Just picture in your mind a patt, jagd, JRT, or Dale.
  6. They aren't nearly as close as you think, finchy . In the top frame , see where the coyote is standing by himself ? He's watching the dog . Next frame you see the coyote out of view, but Mickle's on him..... You certainly want plenty of room for sake of the safety of the dog.
  7. No shit ? Ali G isn't real ? It was an attempt at humor.... and serves as a reminder of why I don't get involved in these across pond pissing matches.
  8. Yeah, the big mac is responsible for giving us a whole generation of fat b*****ds eh? Well it's played it's part and so has glamorising this stupid American ghetto gangster/thug image that the kids aspire too these days. I think the last place we need to look is to the Yanks for examples of how to sort our problems out. You were saying ?
  9. Had a very gracious member send me a copy and I thoroughly enjoyed it . Very well done.
  10. Skycat, Any Airedale used in the field should have the ability to take a coyote by themself without the gun .....but it's not a frequent event. And yeah, it's due to speed ; coyotes are just to speedy . The one here (John Henry's dog , as you well know) is taking a coyote after it was hit . You can actually tell at what point it's hit if you watch closely. It's kind of like a typist in the Army.....their primary job is to type, but they better know how to use a rifle. Similarly , an Airedale's job when used in conjunction with a caller is to be a living, animated ,territorial decoy ...
  11. Not wanting to de-rail SGS's thread further, I thought I would expand a bit on one way terriers are used alot here in the US ....as 'tollers' or decoy dogs during predator calling. A couple of factors arise when calling predators here. One is a disinterested coyote....he may come in for a time and then simply have seat; at 400 yards out. A toller helps finish the job by drawing the coyote in by challenging it's territorial instinct. Secondly,as an indicator for coyotes that cruise in but remain unseen. What looks like very open country completely changes when one takes a seat in buffal
  12. Here's a great example of "Mickle the Pickle" (owned and used out of McNeal,Az.) working a coyote. At the on-set, she's teasing it and baiting it for the shot. At the shot....she jumps it in order to get her licks in.
  13. JRT's also get used after coyotes....someone earlier mentioned bait. Well kinda....they are used as a decoy. Not a food type bait, but as a territorial challenge. Watch this.....
  14. They are....good all around fur dogs with a special knack for coyotes, mate.
  15. Here all four of my pups are rough housing in the house with my daughter....
  16. Here ya go.... both look just alike, little bookends.
  17. I am on new ground as far as Terriers are concerned. I did once have a bullxshepard that we took calling fo coyotes that was 20 years ago and I called exclusively for coyotes again the dog came in handy. I have only heard of a few hunters using dogs in conjunction with predator calling so it is uncharted territory. Thanks Waidman for all of the advice you have helped me with. .SGS That's the prime reason I just picked my two Airedales, Poncho and Willie ....to use as active tollers and recovery. Nice to hear from you Arron, this post has gone way further than I thought it w

  20. Yep....dog oughta be able to make a catch right out of the box.
  21. For a coyote dog....I like one that as the ability to take on the furry buzzsaws by themself; but that doesn't mean I always expect them to . I have no problem sending in some back up.
  22. Hi Davy, Sorry I've been away...I have new pups friend and they are keeping me jumping. Anyway, given that bowhunting is not allowed there, let me provide some insight as I have been bowhunting for over 2 decades now and have taken bears, elk, pronghorn antelope, mule and whitetail deer and numerous wild hogs with a bow. An arrow does in fact kill by hemmorhaging , but not in bleeding out in the way Alex describes it or has envisioned. Let me explain. We all know the major organs work by providing oxyqen to the brain as in spec. the heart and lungs. When an arrow travels th
