    I think a well bred 5/8 3/8 you have got the best of both worlds ,brains ,stamina ,and speed.THE 3/4 bred are a most of the time a faster dog but lack stamina in my experiance ,and the feet not as good.I have had a fast 1/2 cross which could kill winter hares singlehanded,which i bred from to a 3/4 bred bicth to produce a 5/8 3/8.I think if you lamp places where there is lots of game in big numbers i dont think the 3/4 bred as the recoverey rate to keep run rabbit after rabbitt compared to a half bred or 5/8 3/8.THEY IMPRESSIVE early on in the night when they are fresh ,but i ended up carrying

    What do you think are best dog or bitches , MY best running dog was a dog but i have had good bitches as well.Dogs can be apain sometimes when training or when young but i think once you get a dog to your way of thinking they willrun through a brick wall for you,WHATS YOUR OPINIONS PEOPLE.

    had a first cross bred by typ ratcher ,the dog was superb rabbit catcher day, night,But could kill winter hares single handed DAYTIME, PLUS OTHER GAME AS WELL SINGLEHANDED.THE dog was tested to the max on everything really never backed down.BEST NIGHT I HAD WITH HIM WAS 53 RABBITTS ,BUT ME AND MY MATE WITH HIS DOG DID 102 RABBITTS ONE NIGHT UP REEF NORTH YORKSHIRE.Bred from this dog and produced adog which was a top draw rabbitt dog.CANT SPEEK HIGHLY ENOUGH ABOUT GOOD COLLIE CROSSES.

    IT DEPENDS ON INDIVIUAL DOG ,IT ISNT JUST COLLIE CROSSES WHAT PICK THERE RUNS IVE SEEN SALUKI ,BULL CROSSES PICK THERE RUNS ,BUT SAYING THAT ITS DOWN TO THE MAN BEHIND THE DOG WATCHING IF THE DOG NEEDS A BLOW,I HAVE HAD ALL SORTS OF GOOD LAMPING DOGS,BUT MY BEST ONE WAS A 1X COLLIE GREYHOUND WHICH DIDNT NO WHEN TO GIVE UP.IN MY OPINION FOR GENERAL LURCHER WORK LAMPING RABBITS, YOU WONT BEAT A GOOD COLLIE CROSS BUT THAT IS JUST MY OPINION.

    HE bred some very good dogs over the years but it seems laterely he has lost his way and breeds anything,I FOR ONE CANT KNOCK HIS COLLIE CROSS AS ISAID BEFORE THE DOG I HAD WAS FIRST CLASS IN EVERY WAY,HE WAS ALSO VERY GAME ON BIGGER GAME WHICH YOU HEAR THEY FALL SHORT ON MOST OF THE TIME,BUT THIS DOG HAD ONE GEAR AND THAT WAS FORWARD ON ALL GAME,I MIGHT HAVE BEEN LUCKY WITH THAT ONE BUT I DONT THINK SO BECAUSE HIS SON HIS THE SAME.

    i HAD A FIRST CROSS COLLIE GREYHOUND OFF TYP ,AND WAS THE BEST DOG I HAVE HAD ,The dog was a chocalate coulered merle ,was a top draw dog on the lamp,taking everything single handed with ease.HE was not abig dog really 24in 50 in weight but such a brave and clever dog ,still got same dogs now related to that dog.

    I THINK EVERY THING HAS TO BE IN YOUR FAVOUR IF YOU WANT TO CATCH BIG NUMBERS,THE OBVIOUS THING GOOD DOGS,KNOWING HOW MANY RUNS TO GIVE A DOG TILL YOU GIVE IT REST,[DIFFERS FROM DOG TO DOG HOW MANY RUNS BEFORE GIVING A BLOW.GOOD THICK EDGES ,WEATHER,FITTNESS OF DOGS,AND IN MY A OPINION A GOOD MAN OPERATING THE LAMP.YOU CAN GET ALL SORTS OF CROSSES WHICH CAN GIVE AGOOD ACOUNT OF THEM SELVES IF THE RABBITTS ARE THERE.but for me if the right sort acollie cross is my favourite as long theyare not to clever in the wrong way.I had my biggest bag with a single dog which was a first cross collie grey

    TO CATCH THAT AMOUNT OF RABBITTS [they are not hard rabbitts],go down to the midlands ,you will run hard and less rabbitts.just because some people haven,t caught as much as others dosent mean they have a lesser dog ,somtimes they havsnt had the oppotunitey to good land and more game,I HAVE AND I KNOW THE DIFFRENCE BETWEEN HARD AND EASY GAME TO CATCH.

    caught 106 rabbitts with 2 dogs 1x collie greyhound and a bull whippet greyhound in 2001 by penrith.ITS not impossible,you just need the ground,good conditions, and very fit dogs.THE MOST I HAVE TOOK WITH AS SINGLE DOG WAS 72 RABBITTS,BUT BEEN HONEST THE RABBTTS WERE VERY EASY TO CATCH COMPARED TO MY LOCAL AREA,YOU WOULD NOT HAVE THE CATCH RATIO GOING LOCAL AREA,S ;COMPLETELY DIFERENT RABBITTS.

    LET ME TELL YOU MERLE YOU CAN GET GOOD AND BAD IN ANY CROSS ,AND I CAN TELL YOU IHAVE SEEN KIM RUN SEVERAL TIMES AND SHE ISNT SLOW;AND BY THE WAY WHAT WONDER DOG DO YOU RUN.

    Beddy wheaton and bull all hunt nose down so I'm sure it wouldn't be much of a problem. yes your right mate but none of them have a nose half as good as a lab they have been bred for that type of work for years so im just saying its an instinct that might cause hassle on the lamp if they keep missing which a half cross lab could as they would be abit slow for rabbits and if a tested cross could yap or start pulling up if it missed it when the quarry hits cover to many times while its young im sure a lab cross would be more than happy hunting up in any cover any time of the night!!! i perso
