  1. After getting quite a bit of contradicting advice from various people could you please clarify if I can or can't. I am wanting to keep 2 or 3 jills and a vacectomised hob. Can I keep them all in the same hutch all year round even when the jills come into season. The hob should keep the jills happy and bring them out of season even though he is firing blanks, but once the hob has got his end away should I seperate them or is it ok to just leave them all in the same hutch together all of the time. I'm just getting back into keeping ferrets after nearly 20 years and cant remember things b
  2. To cut a long story short, I am wanting some ferrets to work them. I have recently required a double hutch and a single hutch. The plan is to put the double hutch outside beside my shed and single hutch insde my shed and join them together with a pipe, this is so they can go inside in the winter if they want to. I have not looked after ferrets since I was a kid so its like starting from scratch. I want 2 working jills to start with and possibly a vesectomised hob to keep the jills happy when they are in season. If its possible I want to keep all of my ferrets together without having to sepe
  3. Went to pickering game fair on saturday and there was only one lamp on one stall, I was expecting more. Anyway I have ordered the Deben Max Pro from Redbeck shooting supplies for £115 with the new lightweight Litthium battery, alot cheaper than everywhere else I looked, so if anyone else is looking for one it might be worth looking on there website for a good deal. Thanks again for the advise, I will let you know how I get on with it.
  4. I can't remember what make the torch type one is, it was about £50 and takes 2 of them 3v dumpy batteries. Don't get me wrong, the torch type one is great when out with someone else or when doing smaller fields and around the buildings, its what i have had on my gun for the last 12 months, I only want a more powerfull gun lamp to serve a different purpose.
  5. Thanks for the advice, I already have a torch type one which is ok for shooting rabbits once you have them in your sights, but its not bright enough to scan the fields to spot where the rabbits are. The logan one I have is better than the torch type one, but again when I am out by my self its just not powerfull enough to scan the the fields. I am at Pickering Game Fair on saturday and i will have a look at the deben one, it sounds like it will do the job perfect.
  6. I wanting a new lamp for shooting rabbits and wondered if anyone could recommend one. It must fit onto an airarms 510 and be bright enough to scan the feilds, not just light up the shooting range of the gun and preferably a variable beam. It will be used for me to go shooting alone and the logan one i currently have is ok when with someone else holding a bigger lamp, but is not bright enough to scan the fields when out alone. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks
  7. Its had about 2 and a half tins, probably about 1200-1300 through it !
  8. The reason i tested it was because i was getting quite alot of runners even when the gun was fully charged, and they were definate head shots at no more than 20 yards, some ran into the bushes and i couldn't find them and others i managed to chase after and ring there necks, they were all hit in head. I think i am going to take it back to the shop and send it back to Airarms for them to check it.
  9. Don't quite understand what you mean by 'regulated'. Its brand new and not been tampered with if thats what you mean and the accuracy is spot on-a 5p size hole at 20 yards shot after shot.
  10. After recently buying a Airarms 510 in 177 i have today done a test on it. Here are my results; The 1st shot was 11.4lbs After 10 shots the readings went down to 10.9 After 20 shots the readings went down to 10 After 30 shots the readings went down to 9.1 After 40 shots the readings went down to 8.5 After 50 shots the readings went down to 7.6 I have not listed every reading, but the power went down after nearly every shot, I didn't find any results to show me a 'power curve' as i was expecting, and i was very disapointed how quikly it lost its power. I filled the gun to 190 bar
  11. I am going to check it on a chrono this week, the more i think about it the more i am thinking it could have been not shooting as well when the pressure was full, most of the rabbits were dropping after about 20 or 30 shots had been fired. Thanks for your thoughts and advise, i will post the results on this thread when i have tested it.
  12. I had just filled my gun before shooting and it was at 190 bar. Come to think of it - as the presure dropped to about 140ish towards the end of the session the rabbits were stopping dead with a head shot or dropping and not moving very far. All of the head shots looked as though they were penatrating quite deep or is it the amount of power behind the impact that kills them. I was using RWS superdomes, would using flat heads or pointed pellets make much differance do you think??
  13. After not owning a airgun for about 10 years i have recently got the bug again. I have done alot of reading and read lots of posts and bought myself a .177 airarms 510. In the past i have always used a .22 springer, but thought i would give the 510 in .177 a bash as i really liked the feel of the gun and find it to be very accurate. I went shooting last night and the first 4 rabbits i hit in the head ended up running about 6 yards into bushes after pellets had been put in them, and i never sore them again. I was starting to question my aiming and wether my gun was working properly until the
  14. I have just ordered a gun cabinet off ebay. The fixings that came with it are huge hex headed screws with large plastic plugs. The listing said the cabinet and fixings were up to british standard, so i have used all 4 to secure the cabinet to the wall. After reading a couple of posts on here i have noticed most people are using metal expanding bolts to secure there cabinets to the wall. The cabinet is in a cuboard on the landing and is fixed to a brick supporting wall, will the plastic wall plugs be ok, they do expand when you tighten them and it feels rock solid?
  15. Thanks for your reply. I have just had a look at some and there seems to be different diametres ie, 4.50, 4.51, 4.52, ect. What are the advantages of the different diametres or are these more for target shooting, would i be better off with the standard 4.50 size?
  16. After been away from airguns for nearly 10 years, i have recently been out and bought a new one. God, how things have changed in 10 years, but thats a different story. Anyway i have bought myself an air arms 510 in .177 and was wondering if anyone could recomend a type of pellet for killing rabbits and pigeons? Thanks
  17. Could you pm a phone number so i can talk to you about this cabinet, dont like this email thing. Thanks
  18. I would be intrested in buying this.
  19. Hi, would you be prepared to post this item. What course fishing gear are you after, carp, match, pike, ect?
  20. If i do get knocked back then i will have to look into other options. Snaring is a not an option because my parents have dogs. Lamping with dogs would be be difficult because of the amount of cover in the fields (there not really coursing fields) lamping with a air riffle may be an option or even ferriting may be an option. To be honest i know loads of lads with dogs, ferrits and guns and could soon sort out the rabbits if i let them on, but after going out on sunday and only getting 2 i want to kill them myself. Like i have said i have got the hunting bug again and will have great pleasure in
  21. Thanks for your reply, the reason i have mentioned the ruger 10/22 is that i have heared one and thought it was quiet compared to other guns i have heared. These other bullet guns you have mentioned- how does the noise compare to the ruger, are they semi automatic as well. Thanks
  22. Thank you for your advise and oppinions, i have put a bit in the new members section to introduce myself a bit more. I have also asked another couple of questions if anyone has any other help for me. Thanks, your advise is greatly appreciated.
