  1. I am looking for a call bird - Magpie or Grey Crow in Co Down, Northern Ireland. I have tried eggs in my traps for a few weeks with no success. Thanks R
  2. Looks great mark - what are the rough dimensions? R
  3. If you have only started shooting I would change shoulders. I am the same (right handed and left eye dominant) and changed when I was starting - a few years agon now!! You can then keep both eyes open - it will feel strange for a while but you will get used to it and it will be a lot less bother in the long run than patches, scratched glasses and fancy bead sights. Best of luck!
  4. It is grand - works well although the buttons can be a bit fiddly and you need to remember what button is for what call or you could end up with a chattering magpie or grey crow! R
  5. Could you possible post a photo as I cant understand what you mean. Thanks R
  6. The hinged lid is a good idea and is fine for me as at this time I only have one of my five traps out at present. I had thought that somone inspecting load of traps on a daily basis would want a signal so they didnt have to take the time to open each tunnel and also to minimise handling. Not sure about the feather on the drinking straw idea but the cable tie is worth a try. Thanks for all your help. R
  7. Anyone got any other ideas? The twine idea is a bit fiddly. Not happy that I still have not caught the rat under my hen house after a week! R
  8. Looks like a great project, did you get it finished? How has it turned out?
  9. I watched last nights fieldsports channel / hunting YouTube and it showed a German wooden trap that used a mouse trap as the trigger mechanism. Anyone got any advice?
  10. Good point, are there any books that you could recommend that i could read on snaring, I am going to try to get my hands on the Warrener DVD. Anyone got a copy for sale?
  11. Hi did you sell the sporting terrier book?
  12. I was at a shoot recently and they had some very well made fox traps - far better than mine. They say that in hard weather they are very effective and are working all the time. I have been looking into the collarum also and it seems to be very effective. Any thoughts on what would be the best investment as neither are cheap. Thanks
  13. Thanks for the reply, will try this now. R
  14. I made my first trap tunnel and caught my first rat thanks to the advice on this forum. I would like to put out a few more as I know that rats are moving in because of my hens etc. Can anyone let me know how to make a signal or indicator that will tell me without opening the tunnel that it has gone off. This would save me a lot of time and mean I didn't have to keep opening the tunnels to check. Thanks again R
  15. Great shot, what sort of camera are you using? Roge
