  1. It's already been partially drained. Some pipes buried. It gets a lot of water draining down off the field though.
  2. Hi all, Have the use of an acre of land at the back of my house. It's fairly wet at the bottom of a field but also has dry parts. Would boggy ground be ok for pigs so long as there are some fairly dry patches? Am also thinking of beehives and chicken runs. Any other thoughts? Thanks for reading.
  3. Thanks lads. Could do without the rats. Maybe I'll just keep getting eggs from my folks I really want the hens to get my young lads involved in self sufficiency from a young age.
  4. Hey lads, Was thinking of putting a permanent run in one side of my (very) small urban garden. The run would be about 1m wide by about 3m long with a coop at the end with access for cleaning and egg collection. Would this be ok for two hens? Considering I wont be moving it would throwing garden clippings in be good for scratching etc? My folks have a good few chickens but they are all free roaming (and sh*tting) everywhere Thanks.
  5. Hi btp, they want the land turned over too. Also there are young beech trees planted around the edges and I think the goats would destroy the bark?
  6. HI lads, My folks have a section of land at one end of their house where the percolation unit etc. is and it is fairly overgrown. They want to plant like a wildflower meadow over it and I was just wondering if it would be ok to put a couple of pigs on it to clear? Would this be dangerous for the animal or for the meat (given the proximity to the septic tank)? Also would the pig damage the vent pipe? Thanks.
  7. Hi lads, just wondering, do many people go out shooting without a dog? (excluding clays lol).
  8. Thanks lads, I will let you know what I end up getting.
  9. Lads just looking for some advice on what would be a good starter shotgun. I'd be shooting feather and bunnies. Whilst I'm looking for a starter shotgun I would like some quality and not something that I will need to change after a year. I could probably stretch to about €1000. Also if any one could recommend decent dealers in Leinster that would be great. I have heard East Coast Dog & Gun is fairly decent. Thanks.
  10. Cheers Gaz, I live in Dublin but would be hunting in Wexford where my folks live. My dad is in the local gun club but never goes shooting. I might join up. Thanks for the advice. John
  11. Thanks Gaz and that's a fair enough point alright. I suppose there it is a big risk for lads to take someone along. Ill keep plugging away and reading up etc. hopefully I'll get to put it to practice someday. John
  12. Hi All, I posted this in the intro section but thought it might be good to post here too. I am living in Dublin but grew up in Wexford and go to Wexford most weekends. I am looking to get into hunting, my preference being running dogs night or day and hope to get a lurcher at some stage.
