I am currently shooting across the kitchen and dinning room. I do agree that standing in one spot at the same distance can cause issues. But I also think that practicing on different size targets and at different angles does help. When I am shooting handguns once I know my zero then I like to shoot at golf balls or spent shot gun shells. Because they are small and active. Once you hit one or near hit they will fly some where else causing me to refocus. I love to shoot stuff whether it be rifle, handguns, or bows, and now catapults. One of the main reasons I got into them is I can shoot ins

I have only been shooting serious since Christmas. I line up and aim, then open both eyes. My skills have greatly increased over a short period of time. I am trying to shoot at least 100 shots a day. If I continue to improve at the same rate of progress I will be cutting cards in a couple of months......I am not saying that to brag but I do pay close attention to aiming and working on my release. Aim small miss small.

Thank you all for the nice words.... 338 yes we do need the snow out there. I have not even bothered going out this year. My buddy across the pond to the west of us has been doing real well on coyotes this year. He said not many Jacks BUT there seems to be more cottontails this year. We only have a couple of weeks left to go after them.....Tell me more about that lurcher of yours. Is he good with small dogs? My 2 JRTs are pretty good flushing dogs on Jacks and decent on squirrels......Have you ever ran your dog up by the Woman's hotel on the hill. I have seen a few rabbits up there.

This is my first real catapult I have made. I did make some multiplex ones for my 4 boys for Christmas and they have been good trainers for all of us. I made this one for me it is banded with 1" straight cut TBG. It is launching .44 cal lead and .38 caliber slugs weighing 158 grains real well.... I hope to have some hunting pics soon to follow up this post...... I have another fork drying now that will follow this one when it is done. I am going to set it up for 9.5 mm steel. Thanks for looking

I do a lot of winter Fly Fishing. I use a brand called "Glacier Gloves". Mine are polar fleece on the back of the hands and neopreen on the palms and fingers. The thumb and trigger finger tips flip off/ up. They are not cheap though they run close to $50.00 U.S....

I do know what you mean about nobody around. I never have had the chance to hunt my dogs on any thing but rabbits. I may have found a place I can go try for raccoons in a barn. Not much terrier game around here. There are a few badgers around but have not been in the right place at the right time. I have lived here for about 3 years and have only seen 1 fox, the guys trappin say the mange killed most a few years back so it will be a few more before they are back. There are a few guys in N. Utah I think. I have never talked to him but he goes by Sawtooth I have seen him on several sites. He

If you cant find that one do a google search for Vargy Coyote hunting and you should be able to find that board. It has a terrier sub forum. Good Luck Dan -

Newbie Question just curious
iamdrglass replied to iamdrglass's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Thanks for the reply. All though I don't own one I don't want a person that is responsible owner not to have one. I can just see that in the future that the bull breeds here could have major restictions just like you say from the "media hype". Every few months we have major news stories talking about "attacks" from "pitbulls" we never here about the labs or the other friendly breeds that maul the children. Good Day Dan -
When did the APBT get banned there? Why ? What were the circumstances that lead up to the ban? Was it because the media considered the " fighting dogs" or was it irresponsible owners? Just curious, because there is a lot of people here in the states that would like to see the same thing happen. There are already towns that have ordinances against them or have major restictions. What would your guys advice be to stop the antis here? Thanks Dan

Traning Questions for new pup
iamdrglass replied to iamdrglass's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Thanks for the reply Foxfan. I plan on hunting him as he gets older. I am just wanting to start him right. I don't believe in reinventing the wheel so I figure I can learn from others mistakes. Thanks again Dan -
Good morning to all. I just got a new Russell pup a couple of weeks ago, he is 12 weeks tomorrow. I have been reading all of your posts for at least a month now and have gleaned alot of good info. My question is what type of obedience to you all expect out of your terriers, such as sit, stay, come, ect.? Do most of you keep your hunting dogs kenneled or in your homes? How much obedience training do you do with your new prospects? Thanks Dan I will post pics of the new pup after I get my camera fixed. My 2 year old son well lets say he needs some obedience training as well:
