  5. that would be a great help , i will let u no how i get on as im goin to go in shed shortly and have a few hours with her . if i can at least trim the back claws for now as it seems there so bad she is walking on them rather than paws . ive been feeding a mixture of dry food and cooked chicken just that sound ok? Nip up tesco & get a tray of chicken wings & give her one raw , let her have a good chew of that & you can see if she is any easier handling & you may get to do her back claws never thought of chicken wings , i will get some asap thanks . are human nailclippe

  7. Sorry not near you,I find that the best way is stop trying to pick her up.try letting her come to you. I put them in a smaller cage to begin with, before they go into main hutch. I have on occasion put that bitter lemon on my fingers y'know that anti-bite furniture stuff for pups, like fingers taste nasty. She's female mate,we bite when handled rough sofly softly, take your time.lol Then again i got hammered by a ferret nick-named EVIL scarred, looks like a vampire bite. may try the bitter lemon thing . would a jiff lemon work . and my mrs bites if she not handled roughly lol
  8. I wouldnt worry to much about nails unless there really overgrown , concentrate on getting her trust & plenty of snap down her for now If you add a run to her set up the slabs should keep her nails down i would class them as over grown . they must be nearly an inch at front and curling under on rear paws . i want to do something to help but on the other want all my fingers as well lol
  9. she housed in a 3 storey hutch i built earlier this week it has wooden floors . although i think im gonna have rethink the design . as i say cant really handle her yet and was reluctant to just " srcuss " incase this caused her to be afraid of me any more than she already is .
  10. hello in in bloxwich near walsall , west mids . recently rescued a ferret (jill) seems in quite good health considering what she been through . tryin to get her used to me handling her but still cant really just pick her up without her sinking teeth in my fingers , which leads me on to next problem . nail are very long and obviously need trimming but its difficult to get near her at moment ? im also looking to tag along with local ferreter(s) as this seems the best way to learn .
  11. thanks for all the responses . didnt realise how many people use this forum , its a great way of meeting new people in my area , and hopefully tag along and learn the ways .
