  1. Nice rifle you got there! Why don't you get a high intensity led flashlight instead of the Deben? I use a Fenix TK10 on my Condor. It compliments the tactical look and produces a blinding white focussed beam of light. Its completely shock-proof (uses an LED instead of a bulb), waterproof upto IPX8 standards and extremely light weight. Running on 2 CR123 cells, its gives you 11hrs in 60lumens and 2hrs in 225 lumens. Check it out, you will love it. Mo.
  2. Hi Andy! Thanks for the info mate. I will be installing the bipod this week! Lets hope it works out! Mo.
  3. Lighter pellets dont retain their energy as long as heavy pellets do. Though they may leave the muzzle faster, they slow down real quick and wont have the impact or velocity of heavy pellets at distances.
  4. Thanks Deker! I'm sure gonna keep at it till the groups better!
  5. I'm planning on installing a bipod on my Diana 52. Will it affect my groups?? I know that supporting a spring rifle or holding it in anyway is a bad idea as far as accuracy is concerned. But I know several shooters who swear by the accuracy as long as I dont get rubber tipped bipods and stick with the plate tipped bipod legs (This allows the gun to recoil..) Also, Diana sells a bipod for the 48/52/54 models. Of course that could be a sales gimmick. But what I want to know is, has any of you tried one on your spring rifles?? Thanks!! Mo.
  6. Hmmm.. Well, if all you're looking for is soft pellets, then there are a lot of chinese pellets that'll make it to the list. They mushroom a lot on impact, but the finish and quality is nothing to write home about!
  7. What do you mean by highest lead content??
  8. Hi Fin and Fur, Thanks mate, they're the Defiants.. Haven't heard of the Dynamics though. But the note at the range is interesting. It must have some real good energy upon impact or its a very good ad idea! How was the impact when u tried em? I've heard defiants are really great. Get the trial pack with all the three head sizes so that you can find the perfect fit. I'm sorry you felt that way Tote. No signals being sent. The table was given only as an indication of power carried at those distances when all else is constant. Its never alright to shoot at live quarry at those di
  9. How long has it been since you bought it? Has the cocking effort also reduced? Was there smoke when you shot it the first few times? Is it quieter now? More importantly, how do you know that the power has reduced? Penetration tests or range? Or are you using a chrono? The simplest explanation would be that the gun has been dieseling so far and now settled down to its actual power. That happens a lot with new springers. Take the gun to a reputed gunsmith and have it inspected if you feel necessary.
  10. Thats cool! What colour did you have? I gifted my brother a bright blue one years ago. I liked the red one, but the store didn't have it in stock then. My bro uses gamo round balls in it.. It was a fun fun plinker!! and super light! The H&N Silver Points are 11.80gr in .177 and 16.90gr in .22 They ain't that heavy. The Rabbit Magnum discussed here is 16.85 in .177 and 30gr in .22. Now thats heavy!
  11. Lol! Well said! he he! Thats the thing. Enough pressure will eventually develop to push the pellet forward. But the heavier/tighter the pellet, the more the stress on the spring. Thats the whole thing. Also, if the pellet doesn't start moving at the right pressure, undue stress will be exerted on all the internals. right?? Sometimes the pellets are so light that its almost equivalent to dry-firing. And in certain super light pellets made of non-lead material, pellet skirt expansion does not happen at times. This leads to near dry fire situation where the piston does not have
  12. Thanks Pete! I agree with Deker too. But couldn't it be that this is a problem that's aggravated in FAC springers? Cause most people agree that light or extra heavy pellets increase the possibility of dieseling. Maybe its a series of situations that contribute to the spring fatigue. Including bad maintenance as Deker said.. The sad part is that I don't have any friends who use sub 12ft/lb rifles. So all I can speak of is FAC ones. To contradict myself, I never use light pellets in my rifles. The most common .22 I use are two local brands in 18.98 and 21.45 grains. Both perform beau
  13. I mentioned "other" for my AirForce Condor and Norica 35..
  14. I'm a huge fan of the Rapid series! My mate has a fully customized tactical version in .22
  15. My edit was posted before I finished typing! lol.. and you replied before I could even finish the edit! Quick Draw huh! lol..
  16. Hey RAMCAM, its a software called AirGun. I downloaded it a long time ago from some website. Can't remember which. If you cant find it online, send me the data and I'll do the calculations for you. If you can get the known velocity with a particular brand of pellet, the software will give me the correct data for other types of pellets using your original data.
  17. True! Sadly, such examples of beech, mostly appear only in product ads! I remember a friend who mail ordered a rifle that looked beautiful in beech on the website, that he felt it justified him not getting walnut! But when it arrived it looked ordinary! Just like beech! he he. The stripped stock looks good! Put up finished pics soon! I'm not a great fan of glossy stocks. Matte looks fit for walnut.
  18. You have me thinking twice now! lol.. Could it be that the issue I'm referring to, is more common in FAC springers? I checked with a few fellow air-gunners and all confirmed the same. Heavy or Loose pellets are bad news for springers. To counter the condition of the seals, the better the seal, the more resistance the piston gets when pushing out a heavy pellet. So it aggravates things! This, I wholeheartedly agree to. But none of the problems mentioned, happen overnight. Continual use of heavy/light pellets cause problems. Thats the whole discussion! lol..
  19. I'm glad you found em RAMCAM. Have fun! Really light or heavy pellets may cause excessive piston bounce and extensive use will damage the seals and cause spring fatigue. It also causes detonation at times which will result in broken springs eventually. The same goes for loose/tight pellets. Noticing the recoil is a telltale sign for such issues. This is specific to springers and does not apply for PCPs, CO2 or Pump Action rifles/pistols. This mostly happens with extra light pellets in magnum rifles (when the fps bug bites) and extra heavy pellets in light powered rifles (when the
  20. The S400/410 series comes in Walnut Thumb hole. Definitely Walnut. Unless custom, Air Arms does not offer a thumb hole in beech. The bit on the Grip is usually a darker colored wood like ebony, the same would also be seen on the fore-end of the stock, and mostly used to adorn premium walnut stocks. I would suggest you leave the stock as it is. Its lovely as it is. That's Beech And that's Walnut. Notice the darker wood on the grip and fore-end.
  21. Not quite. A 15 grain pellet with a ballistic coefficient of .020, making <11ft/lbs at the muzzle (~570fps) will retain ~5ft/lbs at 50 yards. That would mean ~3ft/lbs at 70 yards. Keeping the zero at 30 yards here's what we can expect from a <11ft/lbs rifle (under optimum conditions) Yds |fps |FP |Drop |Sightline 1 |570.26 |10.83 |0.005 |-1.497 5 |553.17 |10.19 |0.137 |-0.597 10 |532.53 |9.45 |0.569 |+0.260 15 |512.65 |8.76 |1.331 |+0.788 30 |457.38 |6.97 |5
  22. Anytime mate. While you're at it, check out the Norica Killer pellets. They look interesting. Though I'm pretty sure the accuracy wont be anything to write home about, it may be fun for plinking. And I completely forgot this one. Try targetsports.co.uk too. Lots of people have nice things to say about them..
  23. Try drapers-airguns.co.uk. They have a good collection and if not they should be able to source it for you. Most of the time I import from UK, I do it with Blackpool Air Rifles (www.airgunbuyer.com) I dont know whether they stock this particular pellet. But their service is good. Give them a try too. The main thing is that I think these pellets are no longer under production. But stocks should be there with these guys.
  24. Lol!! Buy a pack of rockets and leave it at his door just to see him blow his top..! I don't know of any in that bracket. But the H&N Silver Point (11.8gr) and H&N Rabbit Magnum (16.85gr) are quite good. Though I'm not sure how they'd perform in a 12ft/lb even at short ranges. Try the Crosman Premiers in 10.5gr. A friend of mine swears by them. Valid argument. But Air rifles, I feel are more fun. Also, for hunting, its the challenge of stalking to get within range that makes it more interesting. And backyard plinking for hours on end. But the biggest attraction is how
