  1. Anyone out there keeping and working Glens? If so, could you please shoot me a private message. Thanks
  2. I have 2 airedale books for sale. All pages are intact. 1. The Working Airedale by Bryan Cummings 2. Airedales "The Oorange Story" by Bryan Cummings. Asking $30 for both books. United States only please. Shoot me a pm if interested.
  3. Whats the purpose of the Skye Terrrier? I saw one today for the first time. It was a low to ground, very powerful terrier, but its coat was as useful as tits on a boarhog. IF the coat was cut short, the dog might have some use on a farm or what not. These show people are dilusional.
  4. Makes me think that dog "might" jump on a coon. Now what happens after that would be anyones guess. He looks like a thick terrier.
  5. Found this on youtube. A sealyham in a bay pen. I know its not going to ground, or real hardcore, but considering the state of the breed, I was impressed that the little guy was willing to stay with the hog.
  6. Saw the staffy thread and I thought it would be a good idea to have a post for wheaten pics. I for one enjoy looking at true wheatens. Anyone want to show off their dogs? I am getting a wheaten and or glen next spring. The pics keep me going until then. Thanks
  7. A guy I know had a line bred Jeep dog that was a carbon copy of jeep. Impressive bulldog to say the least.
  8. 99.9% of sealyhams about today are bred for pet/show. And yes, they are fecking huge! They also look rediculous, with there over long coats. Working sealyhams, the few that are still about.... are pretty much like they always were, big variations in size, some of the bigger dogs were always broad heavey dogs, but some (esp. bitches) are a neat compact size. The AKC standard says they should be 23lb to 24lb. That doesn't take into account that a lot of show dogs are a few lb bigger then the standard. Its conceivable that a lot of sealyhams are 25lb to 27lb. THats bording draw dog st
  9. I have a question to the folks that have experience with the pure bred Sealyhams. Looking through the internet at a punch of pictures, it appears to me that the present day Sealyham terrier is a stockier, bigger dog then the original. Whats your experience with the present day sealyhams in regards to their current size and temperment?
  10. Saw an exceptionally fiesty acting scottish terrier at the end of a leash today. Got me thinking. Anyone ever seen one used for any time of hunting? He looked to be about 25lb, big head and teeth.
  11. THanks Stab. Been researching all of the irish breeds. Sorry forgot about that thread. I printed it off. Thanks
  12. It seems the wheaten and staffs were the main draw/trial dogs in ireland. What happened to the kerry blues of that time? Has anyone seen a blue terrier work? I found this website and it got me thinking how the blue terrier fell to the waist side why the wheaten, staffs, and glens kept plugging away. http://home.no.net/gamedog/irish_terrier_trials_.htm Thanks guys Hoosier
  13. I love those pics. Good seeing a working dog showing a versatile temperment. It shows stability. They show any protective qualites of family and home? Nice looking staff. Looks like heck of a draw dog
  14. To the folks that keep wheatens! How are the wheatens around the home? In terms of temperment, do they possess any guardian or protective qualities of family and property? I am researching the wheaten (and glen) for some above ground hunting. However, he will also stay inside as well. Thanks for replies Hoosier
  15. I'd shoot it. Any dog that bit my pregnant wife would be a dead dog
  16. nice looking dogs. If done right, a little bull can't hurt
  17. Thanks for the replies. Nice posts stabs. Been doing research on glens in the united states. Thinking about getting one and trying it out. I hear even show bred glens still retain some fire.
  18. Ive read a few places where it was said that back in the day, the glen and wheaten could be found in the same litter? I'm curious when the offshoot of the two breeds occured? Was it from job description or area that was worked? Thanks
  19. Hello everyone, really enjoying surfing this site. Is there any breeders out there that have working wheatens that ship to the United States. I have done some pretty deep research on wheatens in the states, and it seems to be no one using them for anything. Also, would be cool to see some real wheaten pics. Any help would be great Thank you Kevin
