  1. I think sometimes it depends on if the kid wants to learn aswell. Non of my family have ever really been into wildlife/hunting apart from my dad who used to have an impressive egg collection when he was a kid and knows a little bit about animals, but I have always been fascinated by them and loved them, I was always reading books or watching nature shows on the telly when I was a kid and still do. I was always the odd kid for loving animals haha, always on the lookout for injured birds and stuff to take home, even if it was a pigeon. If it was taught in schools it would encourage a positive attitude towards our native wildife, but schools teach us f**k all, we dont learn about tax, mortgages or anything that we need to know realy, the things we are taught in schools are only worth learning if you want to become a teacher of that subject.

  2. The bumble bee sting is not barbed, so if it did sting you, it wont die, just like a wasp.

Bees in general do not live long, around 6 weeks, so it could just be a case of natural death that you are seeing.

I hope thats the case anyway, It's nice having them round.

  3. Just went and checked the one that was crawling on the floor, its quite active, just can't fly. It tried to sting me but I didn't notice a sting sticking our of its arse. But maybe it could be a male/female, which ever one doesn't have the sting?

  4. think if the tempeture drops under a certain degree they fall into a dormant state ,if its cold days when you see this ,then this is proberbly why . ive got bumble bee,s in my wall caverty and have opted to leave them as long as they dont start stinging everyone but havnt seen any on the floor though

Nope, even when the weather was good they were doing it, its a couple of bees a day doing it, just looked out now and theres one crawling on the floor, and its a hot day today.

pm the member beechris, he has around 20 plus hives, he'll give you the best answer

    Cheers, will do.

  5. Bumble Bees have decided that the bird box would be a great place to set up home, and its great watching them buzz in and out all day, they havnt caused us any bother at all being there so we aren't really worried about them. I have a question though, that I'm hoping someone can answer, quite often one will just crawl out of the hole and fall to the floor, I keep finding them either dead or very weak and on their way out, is this normal or is it something to worry about, virus', parasites etc...

    Cheers.

I'd love a Macaw one day, Weve got a green cheek conure at the minute, tiny compared to a macaw, and not as loud haha.

  8. Not my type of hunting either, But these big game reserves were people pay £££ to shoot Lions, Rhinos etc.. have actualy played a big part in boosting the wild population numbers of many animals in Africa, and that I can't argue with.

  9. I remember watching a show about the biggest resteraunt in China, They had competitions for all the chefs every year and the one who cooked the best fish but still the closest to being alive won. They done it with snake aswell and cut it up, when it arrived on the plate all the little pieces of snake were still riggling about on the plate, sick fuckers

  10. Think buy cutting there fins off for soup is well tight! no wonder there on the decline, Them nips have some very strange thoughts

I watched a program about seafood on BBC 3 a while back where they went to Japan. All these whales they cull in the name of science end up for sale as meat. The problem is it doesn't sell very well, the general population isn't interested. They've got government posters up everywhere telling the population to eat whale and respect their customs & traditions.

The presenter was hesitant to taste a bit out of guilt, but after he did, he said it was probably the best thing he'd ever tasted from the sea.....

Was that the one were he was saying there is tons of whale meat stored away because no one buys it? but they carry on killing them anyway. The presenter was a ginger with glasses.

That's the one pal! He tried flogging battered jellyfish from a chip van at the end, as an alternative to cod! :clapper:

Did you see the bit where he picked his own fish at that Jap restaurant and it came to the table cooked & still twitching?

Yeah thats the one, people weren't complaining about that jellyfish, dont know how  haha. I seen him with that fish, he weren't impressed one bit haha, I can't remember if he sent it back or not. H ewas trying to buy the whale meat wasn't he to flog it over here rather than let it waste and to give the depleted fish stock a bit of a rest haha.
