  1. Hi hedgesteeper, i dont class myself as a deer expert, but scooby has bagged over 20 CWD and i have yet to see any acting aggressively....they do not want to attack a dog....ever.... however, muntys can sometimes geta  little frisky, my dog has been spiked twice this year, once badley and the other just a skin tear.....i think you must try and start your lurcher on any deer really..as long as the dog is big enough and mature enough, but, i would leave the fallow and sika alone until they have knocked over a few roe as i beleive taking big deer with your dog will cause it to alter its style on the little deer.....but thats JMHO....either way, good hunting...JD

    True words..... <_<

  2. Chalkwarren, you would be surprised how many there are of them round here....i have bagged well into double figures so far this autumn and late summer.....i dont find them that hard to shoot, i think maggies are much harder ..from  what i have seen the jays are often too busy with whats going on in the tree top foliage to spot a sneaky airgunner on the floor below.... ;)

  3. where i live in guernsey.........there are thousands and thousands of rabbits

I was over a couple of years ago.

Bass fishing from Hommett Point in the evenings, there were loads of rabbits behind me, a few black ones. I was between dogs then though.........

Over here, my last 4 lamping trips with my 15 month old bitch have resulted in an average haul of bugger all cubed. Went on the Golf Course across the road last night, started about 21:00, saw 2 rabbits about a foot out, and that was it. Mind you it was misty, bordering on fog.

When I got back, the next door neighbour told me that "The Committee" had PAID someone to lamp it with a rifle, looks like they'd done a good job! realmad.gif

Mind you, I'm on a promise from somebody who has some permission and knows what they're doing, so I should get her sorted on the lamp as soon as she stops breaking down. :D

I have always admired your honesty Smallmouth....it's a great shame that we live so far apart or I would most certainly of 'sorted' your Collie lurcher out 'on the Lamp',...but,.as you say,.it won't be long now,.and where you are heading should provide you with a good night's lamping.....I wish you well... :good:

  4. Enjoyed 'The Midland',.put some faces to names and had a realy good time...I last visited this prestigeous show ten years ago,..and it's taken a long while to return to the 'scene of the crime',.so to speak,...mind you,..life moves on,..a lot of water has now passed under a lot of bridges,.alongside a few big fishes as well  ..Hopefully,.the future will be brighter....

Nice looking Website,...whoever set it up obviously has a love of the 'great game' and a fair old knowledge of Computers,..it looks good.....Let's try and keep it pure and free of petty jealousies and troubled divies that make a fecking career out of getting the 'wrong end of the stick' ...Life realy is too short,..well,.it is in my case....

    All the best,.CHALKWARREN.... ;)
