  1. My mate's got the Mk3 and it's so complicated to use that I prefer the old grey Mk1 box (was there a Mk2?) . I have just taken hold of my first B&F and it's the bollywollox, well made and simple to use. I'm glad to see Deben knocked off their high-horse ; their customer relations/aftersales stinks.
  2. In my honest opinion, the prognosis is not good. I would suggest that - if possible - you try her in an earth where she can be dug to or bolt a fox from quite quickly: Another option is to get her out on a dig with some experienced dogs and let her watch and go at her own pace. Good luck, Nuv
  3. My mate had one...took it out on a hot day...it melted.
  4. We have nothing but problems with collars coming off...anyone know the solution?
  5. had a look ,3 words spring to mind, WASTE OF SPACE " working borders "don't make me laugh... Brockfox dogs have quite a reputation in Wales as being excellent workers. Why does 'working borders' make you laugh so? i live in wales nuv and on the outskirts of brecon where the brockfox kennel is said to be based. well if they were anygood i would think. that i or my mates would have heard about them by now wouldent you There's plenty of good strains out there - of all breeds, but it doesn't necessarily follow that your gang will know them. Perhaps it's because I work B

  7. I learned much of what I know from a hunt terrierman who was totally down-to-earth (sorry) and had no pretence about him. However, some of the others who also followed became hunt terriermen themselves and ended up totally pompous, mistakenly thinking that they had made it to Nirvana and were better than others who dug the local tip. I found a pattern emerging the more of thier counterparts I got to know; I do not generalise, I speak from my own experience.
  8. Like most Hunt Terrierman then.
  9. Thanks, they are a mix of 100% working Welsh blood and some slightly diluted Northern working blood.
  10. Not at all, but I understand the confusion. The post was actually about Tyson's owner, of whom I said seemed clueless. Not sure how he vets the bitches his extremely good looking dog covers, but the ad in CW seems to be geared toward show owners. Much of what I read about Borders is recycled Plummeresque myth, but then, Plummer ripped off the experience of others to pass off as his own; maybe the regulation 'notoriously slow to enter' phrase, proffered whenever Borders are mentioned, was somebody else's. A bitch from my last litter.
  11. ''Nuv is that a pic of Tyson in your post or is that one of your dogs? Lets face it, true working borders are few and far between. I would say the vast majority of people who own them have them as ratting/rabbiting/bushing dogs, pets, show dogs or money makers, or even a bit of all the above rolled into one if they are honest '' Don't read Plummer. That's my stud dog, Taff; I'm truly humbled that he could even be mentioned in the same breath as Tyson. He's nine year old and still going strong. I'm not breeding for a while but Tuffty has had a bitch I bred and he's pleased with her.
  12. that tyson dog in the country mans look nice, but i wouldent want one out of him for work. my mate had four young ones out of him, nice lookers but thats where it ends. they were tried on rat and rabbit when young, and fox as they got older but no good at all. any way my mate died. and i owed it to himto try the dogs had them for six months or more and tryed them week in week out but still no good. a nice dog that tyson but you would think youd get one worker out of four wouldent you. In replie tyson and the rest of that guys borders son and daughters
  13. Me around 22 years ago. Pre ban Taff This was taken after we'd hired some really good Nutgould Patterfell terriers; we then quickly took a photo of our non-working Borders to trick everybody into thinking we dug to them.
  14. Indeed; find me a 'legal' and I'll indulge too. Is Realtree the hunting answer to Burberry?
  15. Try and keep up; the terrier held aloft was the kennel fight question. Perhaps your terriers should find the foxes. Do you wear Realtree?
  16. Perhaps a picture of the gun would have been a more accurate depiction. Do they qualify as 'earth dogs'? Tales of a 'Foxhunting Man' anyone? BBB, Was that the result of a kennel fight?
  17. If you want to use my dog, you can, gratis.
  18. Mine work, and work well. Why doesn't anybody here make a fuss of the Bob Clough/Kevin Allen/Parson terrier not working or being KC registered? Or the £500 price tag? Why dig out Borders? Yes, Plummers are shit, but nobody has ever taken them seriously anyway. Gould this, Nuttall that. Total wank. Black 'uns. Red 'uns. This line, that line. Breeding alone won't make the dog.
  19. Lot of money. He could have bought a Plummer for that money. I think.
  20. I have a totally mute dog who is an excellent worker but can only be worked once a month 'cos of the damage he sustains. Funnily enough, bayers aren't always bolting machines; sometimes a hard dog will force a bolt when a bayer can't.
  21. I've shown my dog a few times. Never won anything other than one or two second places though. What category do I fall into? He works just fine.
