yea but i wouldnt be wishing for guns to be handed out willy nilly just to bolster your sport. yes knifes can kill,however you only need to look at the last few gun nuts to see that they wouldnt have had the bottle or the means to kill as many as they did with a blade. stabbing someone is a pretty personal way of killing someone,a cowardly person may think twice about that,also you wouldnt be as quick to try and disarm someone with a gun. yes its tragic and i feel for shooters,but there folk with guns that really not to have them. wont be the last time this will happen thats for sure. maybe shooters should form an action group to adress the issue with the cops.instead of just moaning about being persecuted. people were killed of course its gonna be debated in the lobbies of power and the press. i for one was glad to see a ban on handguns after dunblane.in fact i was shocked that the ordinary joe bloggs on the street could have such easy access to them,when our own cops dont have the authority to carry or keep them.
Its not my sport. My sport is running dogs and as oftern as i can hounds. Why were you glad that handguns were banned? You think if handguns were banned at the time he wouldnt have done it with a shotgun? Lunatics are goin to kill people no matter what. You cant ban legitimate pass times because some nutter uses it as a method of killing people ...

Its a shame people still havnt learnt that unless the fieldsports comunity stands together and fights for others rights then we all, loose them all.
Again im not involved with shooting at all but wasnt it BASC that got the terrierwork exemption in the Hunting ban?

You should be cleaner than clean , stringient checks goind back to adolecence with the police and your doctors , any misdorminors and No Gun licence , simple,
If granted a gun licence any misdorminors whatso ever and licence revoked forever.
FACS should be more stringent still, some type of accreditation course to be passed then proof of substantial permission before being granted.
To many idiots getting granted licences imo.
Thats rediculous. No one is cleaner than clean. Every one makes mistakes. Guns arnt something to be scared of. Granted they can be dangerous but they arnt something to be feared. There a tool like anything else. Like a kitchen knife, like a car ... need i go on? More death and injury is caused by both of those than guns but it would be insane to ban cars or knives ...
Fieldsports need new blood coming in all the time other wise theyl be gone. Guns are a massive part of this so obviously we need to be getting more people involved with them than less.

I got a problem with gays ... there tight as f**k. Me and some mates we on the piss in london and went to soho. Went to G.A.Y. (like the biggest gay club in england) and didnt get bought a single fecking drink! Was just getting looked at like a piece of meat! I dont mind it when lasses do it but if blokes are gona have a good stare you can at least get me a fecking beer. This bouncer wouldnt let us in another place either. b*****ds!

what gets me is,when they are prizing the brass of the stone,they defo must realise that what they are doing is a very low act.these people trully have no scruples or morals whatsoever.and if money is that tight and they have to rob to feed the family or whatever,that would be the last thing i would steal.if your that hungry and need to feed your family shoplift from tescos,no need to desecrate a memorial to a lot of dead heroes.sacrillage is what that is.wee kid from here broke his ankle other week,by putting his foot down a drain hole,cause someone stole the cover for scrap.
Whats the difference between robbing tescos and a war memorials.
Still both low and wrong the war memorial crime is worst only in our morale views on this subject .

I think people dont give this day and age enough credit. I mean that with the greatest respect to ALL veterans. In my eyes war hasnt changed over the years, only the methods of waging war. Young lads (and lasses) have shown emmense bravery through out history, weather you in a cavalry charge down a valley into massed cannons, walking with bayonettes fixed across no mans land, forcing your way up a beach, running up a south atlantic hillside into machine gun positions or walking down a dusty path you know has bombs underneath designed to remove you of your limbs, bollocks or life.
Also i dont think you lads on here give yourselves enough credit, 99% of people in these situations step up to the plate. Its human nature. People do it for differant reasons but people always do it.
You also cant write some one off cause they wear skinny jeans (not that i do
), trackies or a rasta hat. Again people from all walks of life step up and take the hit. Then again some people do extra ordinary things and they are made of something else but again this has happened for ever and will continue to happen forever.

Thanks for the help. He doesnt jump up per-say. He doesnt put his paws on you. He just litteraly jumps up in the air so to push him to the ground would mean catching him and pushing him down or throwing him to the ground neither of which are a good idea for me. Pushing him away worked when he would touch you and i have tried it since but it doesnt seem to have an effect.
Its not like its disrespect on his part i dont think, i think its pretty much just sheer joy (maybe im being abit nieve). Ive kept Weimaraners for a long time so id like to think i have abit of experiance with daft dogs.
Best results ive had on my own so far seem to have been fussing the other dog and ignoring him. I think your right about the greeting thing chook, ive got soft in my old age
.With the visitors in the house the dogs automaticaly go outside. Maybe i should have them in initialy and then when he acts daft then chuck em out.
Any way thanks for the help so far its good to get some new ideas on the problem. Ill give them a bash. Hes pretty clever so hopefuyl ill know in a sort while if were progressing. Cheers

I have a young collie x dog about 9 months old. His general obedience is good, probably nothing great but he retrieves, sits and all that jazz. He is very excitable which i dont see as a bad thing because he's got a great character and he's still a pup after all.
Our dogs (we have 2) live in the "boots room" in the summer and the kitchen when its colder.
The problem i have is jumping up. When ever he sees people, me in particular he gets mega exited and jumps around. He doesn't actually jump up as such he just jumps around and often high up to like shoulder height but occasionally knock into who ever it is (in my eyes its accidental). Not only is this very annoying for who ever is getting jumped at it could be pretty dangerous for a little kids or something as he's getting to be a fairly big lad. Its something I want to try and get sorted now before it gets ingrained as acceptable behaviour. He initially would jump up touch you but i solved this with the normal methods of pushing him away and a get down ect. All his training so far has been done with praise, he's not bothered about toys, treats or anything he just loves a fuss. You also have to get really nasty with him when you tell him off because I just don't think he understands he being told off.
Basically what I'm asking is can anyone recommend something other than getting uber nasty with him because I don't want to knock his confidence in me or himself just as he's starting to turn into a cracking dog.

Nice to see a southerner with abit of taste! Were i live i can see the from the north pennines all the way across to the coast around southport and up to blackpool on a good day. Its a fantastic view. I love North Wales aswell. scenery there is awsome.

Correct me if im wrong. But the best bulls do survive. They are the ones who go on to sire the next generation. Put it this way would you rather be a fighting bull, living out your life of luxury eating the best food, living n the best house ect ect. Or a beef cow (i was going to say beefer then for some reason)?
On the subject of big game shooting, if paying a vast amount of money to shoot a gold headed stag in the highlands isnt exacaly the same as big game shooting in africa then ill eat my hat. Elephants (and most other big game) need controling just like the deer population in the country why not let a "fat american" do it to "boost there ego" for a hansome sum to garantee the survival that speicies and many otheres in the local area?

Ive lived in africa aswell. And baboons are big and evil. I had a good South African mate whos family had a massive ranch and he said he would never had slipped any number of dogs on a big male baboon. They can gore a dog with there hands alone let alone there teeth.

You cant say torries are worse than labour, who did so much to turn you into a criminal. Labour squandered your cash for years and now the torries are trying to sort it out. I dont totaly agree that torries are in for the rich because at then end of the day the majority vote gets em elected, but would you rather vote in labour who are in the pocket of the Trade Unions who would bring the country to a stop over cuts that the rest of the country has already had to deal with?

Everyones entitled to an opinion. But why shouldnt people have handguns? Because you dont like them isnt in my opinion a valid reason. Its some ones opinion that it was cruel to run foxes ... doesnt make it right.
The harm is not standing together. I know shooters who went on the marches. I know a f**k load of lurchermen who cant be arsed peeling themselves off there sweaty couch other than to go out for a shine or collect their dole. Its swings and round abouts. Shooters didnt turn out massivley for the rallys but then again we didnt all help our selves did we?
