  1. Western lower 48 is nice. Winters are relatively mild with an occasional tough winter just to let you know who's in charge. Spring is like magic, Fall is time to hunt and pack away the garden. Winter is crap if you don't have anything to do but most of my friends hunt more in the Winter than any other time of year. Winter is fantastic if your a dog man! The prices aren't anywhere near as bad as Alaska. There's plenty of room if you stay the hell away from the cities. There are 48 states to choose from though you can forget the East half as far as I'm concerned but even some of those sta
  2. Tried to reply to you with an explanation of the scam you are living under and it wouldn't let me post it, what a surprise. Don't be fooled into thinking that your vote actually counts.youve haven't got to explain anything to me my friend I know we are living a lie in life but hay what can we do apart from carry on in life the whole worlds up in the air mate I do my own thing and enjoy it Vote with your feet. I wish you the very best. The only other way is if the people rise up and tacit back. We all know that's not going to happen. If it can go this far there's no hope for a correctio

  4. I'm sure there's more to it. I'm going nuts trying to find that study again. They laid out the specific parts of the brain that were encoded to each of the genders contributing to the offspring. I would think that it would take a little investigation to sort out the specific contributions as far as temperament, emotional reactions, etc. In my experience with hounds, if you've got a sire that fights at the tree your going to end up with the same in the offspring. The first line of dogs that I had any extensive experience watching were bad about fighting at the tree on bear. The first
  5. I can't for the life of me, remember where I read this but for those that don't know here's a good piece of information that should answer some questions. The male in a pair contributes the genes responsible for making the upper part of the brain. It's the area responsible for emotions, character and the "way" animals think. The female contributes the genes responsible for making the lower part of the brain. It's responsible for the intellect or the IQ of the animal. In short, the male determines the personality and the female determines the smarts. It's not that a lot of people were
  6. He died the year before. Snapped his front leg in 2. Them kinda dogs are just too damn big and they always get hurt. Other than that he was a fine animal. Throat dog and had enough speed to catch most coyotes once he got rollin. Got too hot though but Ive noticed that in several lines and so have many of my buddies. Its just not just his line. We've ran into it hear and there over the years. That's just what I thought. Not from experience mind you, just a hunch. Even that Duce dog of mine is a little big for my taste. He's 28' @ 100#. I would prefer he were 27" at 75# but he's holding
  7. AU has some of the greatest varmint hunting in the world. I don't now that I would leave there either. Most places you can get land for $1K to $2.5K. There are a bunch of places that have cheaper land but much of it has disadvantages like having to haul in water (desert, high mountain, etc.). There's all of the farm work you want. If you can afford some land I would suggest raising your own farm animals and live simple for a few years until you increase your herd. It's always best to work for yourself if you can manage the buildup time. Two pigs of good breeding can put you in the money
  8. There's always a way. I don't think this is the place to discuss some of it. Let's just say that you don't have be you if you don't want. Just get here and sort it out here. Don't think about the things that will be in your way. Marriage is a good option. There are piles of American girls looking for a man. Getting work with a company that sends employees over here is another option. Living the hillbilly life is quite nice and there are many places to get lost over here. Changing your status in the world is a little different than you might have imagined. There's piles of stuff on YT
  9. Nice pics. Hope you get a nice crop of replacements out of your female. How'd Yeti do last year?
  10. Again I it's only my opinion but I'd say they'd be hard pressed just to catch up with a decent one and if they did they'd have a bit of a surprise after only hunting foxes. That's a good point. The coyotes kill most of the fox. The only successful fox around here have learned to den right close to houses and farms that offer some level of protection. I've been asked to move some fox off of a farm near me because the coyotes were raising hell with them nearly every night during the Spring, trying to eat the pups and kill the vixen. It was a noisy deal and was keeping the family up at n
  11. That would be very interesting. It would take quite an effort and unless you were lucky enough to tie into one of the older males right away, it would likely take the good part of a season. to find the answer to that. I would imagine that those dogs would do really well, as expected. It would take a good chunk of money but it could be done. You guys should just buy a dozen coyotes and drop them off in pairs around the country side. In about thirty years, you'd be overrun with them and you wouldn't even have to wonder...maybe sooner than that if the timing was right.
  12. I don't think I'm qualified to answer that. You'd have to tap into one of the families that have been doing it for ages. It really depends on the coyote too. If you get into anything over 18 kg. or more that has any age on it, they're pretty tough. Those big ones will whip the hell out of most hounds that are half again bigger than they are. I think that in most cases, those large ones will stop inside of the first half hour and challenge the dogs in the woods. It seems like they are testing out if they really have to do all of this running or not. In the open it's a different story. I
  13. Don't know much about this subject..but from what I've just seen on that video... I would have to say that those 3 dogs are Fekking useless. If Coyote was my quarry and those dogs were my team... I would buy a gun. . . I don't see anything I would call sport in that video. All I see is cruelty and suffering in a long drawn out torturous spectacle. Well, that wasn't the cleanest catch, to say the least. All that being said, some of the older males are not to easy to hold much less kill. From the looks of it, that was one of them. They are very tough and good fighters and it takes a
  14. Don't know the answer to that, but I do know it wouldn't be pretty.
  15. That's why I carry a pack of baby-wipes in the truck. You can easily hunt all year. Everyone underestimates otter until their dogs actually catch one. I used to live on a hunting club on the Western side of WI and there was a spot on a road that the otters crossed very regularly. I've had a lot of young dogs run their guts out trying to catch them before they got across and into the river. I've never had a young terrier catch one and I was only to glad they didn't.
  16. Not on purpose! We don't have many of them in the lower 48. They do over in the Rocky Mtns. some but not like up in Canada and Alaska. They don't build up lactic acid like other animals so they don't get physically tired. Wouldn't want to fight something like that. It reminds me of a friend of mine when I was younger. If you fought him you might think your winning but just wait a while... never knew that Dan , maybe that why most other predators leave them alone , yeh maybe well bred apbt stay with them a bit, but your norm type stag or other type hunting dogs , they be to

  18. Yes, they'll eat a dog to bones in under 12 minutes. That sounds like a lot of time if your in the open but all of that is in heavy woods and swamp here. It could take you 12 mins. to go 20 yards in a lot of places. It's not as bad as it sounds though. 100's of dogs are run for 100 days all within 30 miles of my house and only 1-3 are lost to wolves each year. It's like worrying about lightening, earthquakes or tornadoes. Just load the dogs and worry about the rest later.
  19. Check out the David Hise interviews. I think David still shows up at the bigger races/sales each year. He's getting pretty old though.
  20. Is he the guy with the beard?Trotting along on a horse with a pack of hounds looking for mountain lions sounds the bollocks Yup.
  21. If it's on there, he has a video of him out riding mules with his sighthounds looking for coyotes and the dogs found a lion and killed it. I always thought that was a fun one to see.
  22. If you have ever wondered what it could be like to live out the dog man's dream in the Western states of America, here's a fun YouTube channel to watch. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtVDfG3GPTm8FbNY0Bb-oBA/playlists
