  1. Does anybody on here use the deben long range terrier finder? how do you find it for giving you the actual depth of the dig. I have the mk2 one and it is very accurate at finding the dog and is always spot on but the depth that it gives is always about 2 foot more than it acyually is. going to upgrade to the Long range one I think becasue its cheap, water proof, and going by the one i have is easy to use too.
  2. I have been told that when crossing hounds e.g fox hound x harrier that the first cross is the best and when you cross these first crosses again then you will not have as good of hounds and more failures in the litters. Can any of you with good experience of hunting and breeding hounds tell me if this is true or not.
  3. yeah im wondering about the collar too, i wonder does the 3/4 inch collar fit better than the 1 inch collar. does anyone know can the collar be got in different colours.
  4. I have had the deben Mk 3 terrier finder for a few years now and im thinking of changing to a different locater. I know that the bellman and flint set up is very good but its a bit pricy for me and i dont be digging every weekend. So to any of you that have had experience with the ortovox d1 or d3 i just want to know what you think of them and which would be the best value for money.
  5. which are better, steel couples or brass?
  6. Would the red ones be better than the normal leather?
  7. Thinking of getting a set of terrier couples of bellman and flint does anyone have the red biothane ones or would the leather be easier for taking off and on.
  8. It is nice country alright. I am not from around there though we were just invited up by this lad that has chicken houses, he lost 24 chickens in one night to a fox not too long ago so he was happy with the result, the bog was just behind the chicken houses.
  9. Out hunting bogs today with my three harriers and a friends two foxhounds and foxhound/harrier. Put two out of the first place but both were missed, bad shooting. Hounds hunted another out of a big bog and it was shot breaking at the end of the bog. Hounds were flat out on him and were giving good tongue.
  10. sorry no pics but might get a couple the next time im out with them.
  11. Anyone on here use collie cross hounds. i was out with a pack the other day and all the dogs were half collie half harrier and they are the best dogs to hunt foxes to guns i have seen yet, loads of voice and speed to push them on too. Just was wondering do many people on here use them or seen them work.

  20. Went out for a shine on monday night with my lurcher. First slip and one rabbit caught, then missed a couple but he then started to anticipate the turns more because its the first proper night of the year at the bunnys for him. Next two slips got two in a row and a couple missed after that but got two more before finishing. I was happy enough with how he done as his fittness wasnt at the best. Then after droping the lads that were with us off we seen a fox crossing the lane in front of us. turned the car and I got out with me dog and started calling. Nothing showed for a few minutes then a pai

The fox was not that big and i sopose nothing too special but im happy with how the dog did. dont know the weight but it was a nearly fully grown dog fox cub.
