Smart looking animal I have considered putting my first cross dog over a whippet greyhound bitch and keeping a dog pup from this mating for the future but not to sure if that's the way forward for me yet and also I would have to find a whippet greyhound bitch of course lol.........I take it that's a bitch in the picture ? what sort of size was she? Thanks Mike
-
Some nie looking dog's you got there Finn, can't say those feet aren't tight fella Mike
-
The dog is a big lad and is 27" to the shoulder he was bred Greyhound mother and Kelpie father the bitch however is 23" but was bred Kelpie mother and Greyhound father the bitch being a "better" size for rabbits in most peoples eyes but the dog has taken his fair share over the years .The dog pups in the litter I bred seem to be around the 25" mark so maybe breeding this way produces a slightly smaller dog but who know genetics is a funny thing. Mike

Breeze..............In my expereinece NO......The pure bred bitch I have will whine when she is marking anything (i.e. rabbits to ground or squirrels up trees ect) she will also occassionally bark if she is chasing a rabbit. The first cross dog that I have is silent when running or any work really he has taken brown hare to and never opened up at all . The bitch pup I have bred is obviuosly to young to have been tested but she is from the same kelpie bloodline so I cannot see there being any problem there but time will tell. Mike

Come on Neal I've shown you mine ...........now you show me yours........ Mike

Woolstone is where Ruby was bred to, they look to have bred some decent stuff in their time. How the hell have you got a girlfriend ? how does she cope with you.................

It`s not the size of your head that's stopping you its the fecking Bolts Mike I have never know a thread reach 8 pages with out some fecker having a knock, its been so well mannered ?? Must be because there no pretender`s chipping in,lol. Here`s the pup that was sired by Okara Max Mike he`s just over 9 month old and stands 21 ish as you can see he looks a strong type and has a very good hunting instinct especially for Deer Cheeky bugger lol he looks a nice type did you get him from the lyndhurst kennels? It's been a good thread this one, one of the first I have contributed to

Thanks these are the pics of my pure Kelpie bitch that I put on an earlier post Mike

It was only a thought putting the A.C.D. across my bitch (this was to produce a bitch which I would then have worked and tested which would then have been put to a greyhound if it was up to the job0.Like I said most of what I saw were the show type and were of a much heavier build than my Kelpie bitch, this combined with the lack of working stock made the descision for me. Finn .............thanks for the compliments fella can't get out the house at the moment as me heads to big....lol....... ...... like you say putting the greyhound to my bitch does seem to have thrown a smaller slight
-
I've told you before you can't afford a pup off me seriously though I think Ruby is a real good bitch and has a very good temprement which was the reason for using her she had also been extensively tested in the field over 5 years before she had a litter and so to pollute that pure working/hunting blood with show blood would be a cardinal sin.
-
My wife used to live in Austraila and always said the cattle dogs in this country were very different in looks and temperament to the Ozzy dogs............... I know of a fella that had an A.C.D. in this country and didn't find it any good for hunting work at all, in fact he gave it back to the breeder this is mainly the reason for not doing it as finding good working blood may be impossible probably best to just stick with the Kelpie bloodline that I have now.............
-
I have thought of putting a pure A.C.D. over my Kelpie bitch but not sure if there are any "working" A.C.D. lines in britain or are they mostly just show types ?
-
Will do Neal. I will probably give him a ring over easter when I'm off work as we usually end up talking for an age
-
Neal............. I know the fella from north wales your on about he is a pest controller and has worked that dog for quite a few years now but he has retired Jake due to age. He has had a bitch pup from the litter I bred last year and to date is more than happy with her, he thinks she has that little something extra to the last couple of dog's that he has had and thinks she will do well for him. It will be interesting to see how she gets on as he will most definately test her to the full Almost a year old now All the best Mike

Nice one fella the terrier bitch I have works well with mine too good asset to have with the team
-
Fireman I see that you also have a dreaded plummer too lol what's it work like fella ?
-
Molly looks good in those pics "g" is that a russel with a full tail in the last pic  I think they look bloody awful with full tails.
-
She is the pure bred bitch that I have the mother of the pups 19" and a real good bitch I.M.O. She is what the aussie's call a "red cloud" it took me a long time to bond with this bitch and get the best out of her as I didn't have her from a pup , they really are a one man dog sometimes  but we are 2 1/2 years on in our relationship and this bitch would walk through fire if I asked her to and a bloody good guard dog around my yard to, venture in and she'll nail ya if she don't know ya Mike
-
You gotta get the right Kelpie blood butty the bitch I have is a nice compact size and has also been used for beating ferreting, longnetting ect and was well proven before being used, like Sleighty says all greyhounds are not the same, could be the same about the Kelpie's too. What I do know is I am happy with what I have and they suit me and what I want from my dog's Mike
-
Is that you then "V" ? having Cody certainly changed my life he has taught me more about dog training than any book or video could have, this was the reason for progressing with this cross as they suit me just wanted something a little smaller which is what I have got. Finn The big man is 27" and 70 pound when he's fit. He was from a Kelpie dog put to a Greyhound bitch mating. The bitch I have is only 10 months old and is around 23" and 46 pound she is from a Kelpie bitch put to greyhound dog mating (my own bitch put to Dave Sleights greyhound) The pups from my litter do seem to be a b
