Good Luck Jonny boy68 with finding the right dog for you bitch.....just be very careful what you use and who owns it. I know some good folk in your area with some very nice dogs

Who has slagged your opinion off folk simply said why would you want to put a heavily base blooded lurcher across something that is nearly half base blood in the first place, i also fail to see how you have bred this cross for years your only 24 now,all a cross of yours would do across a 5/8ths 3/8ths bitch would do would make the cross more base blood than sight hound which most people try to stay away from as the less sight hound the slower and less pace and punch a dog has,as long as i can remember there has been a pair of belgian shepards on my parents small holding so i dont dislike the b

like you said this post was about a lad asking about what dog to put over his bitch so i have given my opinion on the cross i have bred for years and you big know it all boys come on here and insult me. well im sorry but i never said anythng about my dog being a world beater, i just said he was a good dog and has proven himself (no different than what everyone else says), there for in my opionion he would be a good cross for his bitch and i have seen this breeding before and it has been very sucessful. You go on about how my blood throws heavey, he is 25tts and 24kg.....i have a 7 month old

Totally agree a good choice.Be carefull about putting a collie saturated lurcher over her as you could loose speed and end up with clody dogs.atb dell Dont get that one pal how would a 3/4 grey 1/4 collie racey type produce a cloddy dog why add alsorts into a mix of dog and make bitzas thats where the problems come from in breeding because down the line the pups can throw to different blood in the mix and you struggle to get dogs to throw to type you could add say bedlington blood to that mix then when a pup from that mix is older and ready to breed then whats it going to be put to maybe a s

Yes i quite agree with you - they p*** me off We have buggar all down here in cornwall either, well not on my land anyway....a certain someone in cornwall mite disagree with me as he seems to catch 30 or 40 a night!! pain in the arse. one good thing is that the 30/40 night men will be exposed as the true bull shitt+rs we knew they always were. Oh so you know who im talking about then???

I just wanted to add to this with a few quotes about the breed:- "Like all Belgian Shepherds, the Tervuren is a medium-sized, square-proportioned dog in the sheepdog family". "Belgians were called Belgian Sheepdog" "Tervurens are loyal and form strong bonds with their family" "Their appearance projects alertness and elegance. The breed is known for its loyalty and versatility. Those who own them, report being charmed by their intelligence, trainability, and, perhaps most of all, their sense of humor. They excel in many kinds of activities" "Tervurens are highly energetic, intelligent d

Have you ever thought of putting an old fashion type working lurcher over her....bred years and years ago to take all quarry (pre ban) and be light enough to cover the ground and jump almost anything with guts of steel. Fantastic to train and very loyal to their owner?? I have one of these and he has very much proven himself, anyone that works with me and him will tell you the same. he was bred for a purpose and serves it perfectly. He is a Belgium Shepherd x colie/grey. 25 tts and weights 24kg. I can show you pictures of him working or arrange for you to see him in action.

I use frontline 2 times a year (every 6 months) and put a small amount of garlic in their food everyday along with seaweed and codliver oil. The garlic i use comes from the local country store and is for horses and dogs, it comes in little granuals and they have a little each day mixed into their dinner (not in there breakfast though).....my dogs have never had a flea on them and it does not affect their racing or working perfomance. I buy a 1kg bag for £4.86 and it lasts me 3 months with 3 dogs.

f*****g unbeliveable....what the hell is the point This sort of stuff really winds me up and who ever it was needs a f****ng good or they should be . I really hope you get your dog back mate....all the best of luck

I would never use asprin. Dont forget that asprin thins the blood, that then drops your dogs immune system which makes them prone to being ill. I have always used Calpol every 4 hours. It is very effective as it is for kids its not too strong.

I would just like to say that is a cracking looking dog. My Boy 'Brindle' (in my profile picture at 3yrs old) had proved himself to be very keen at the age of 2 and went on to impress me more and more, he is now 5 and i can say he is the best working dog i have ever had. i will say that (not saying i agree with the shit on here) showing and competing is much much different to proper working. i know of lots of show dogs that will not work and viseversa.....give him a little more time, if he is 2 then this will have only been his 1st season working?? he is still only a baby.

How often do you run your dogs??
hunter-girl replied to Bigshrimp's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
wow it is so good to hear that so many people love to run there dogs into the ground during the season All dogs deserve a rest and as far as im concerned 3 - 4 nights a week is enough - unless of course you only go out for 1 hour at a time!! Along with the hard running they also need a min of 60mins a day of just road walking to stop them getting mussel bound. The best thing is to split that walking to twice a day of 30mins. But hey this is all just my opinion -
Good luck everyone! Im gutted - was going to enter this year but I have to have an op later this year and will be out of action for a few months Never mind .... shit happens - but you can all count me in for next year!!

What age to take dog out on lamp for 1st time?
hunter-girl replied to Hollie's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Not at all - 8 months is a good age, just depends on the type of breed really and the personallity of the dog. just go steady with him to start with and build his work load up slowly. do what you said - run him on some squaters that he stands a chance in catching - If he starts to have too many runs where he dont catch at this age it will put him off and he wont be bothered to even run after them. Always try to end the night on a good note as well! Good luck and keep us up to date with how he gets on. feel free to pm me if you would like some more advice or anything. -
