  1. In my experience leave the dogs too it, obviously if the spaniel is being outwardly aggressive then ensure the pup is safe. Dogs will 9 times out of 10 not "attack" a young pup, harsh tellings off are part of being a pup and they learn from it. If your keeping 2 or more dogs, they will need to have a natural pecking order, the spaniel will be top dog and needs to assert that, it may change as the pup matures, but if the pup grows up knowing her place, it should prevent problems at a later date. Just ensure you get out with the pup on her own for training and one to one sessions, she'll bond with you and be a better worker for it. Best of luck.

  2. Whippets?? :icon_eek: lol Dogs are in fine order as ever. Photography has come on too! Hope your all well? WHat happened to the black lurcher? :hmm:

Thanks Hannah...im very well thanks how are you and yours....My sister fell in love with the lurcher so i let her have it.She is maturing into a fine strong bitch now.

All good this end thanks, dogs are fit and the little lurcher has surprised me hugely already this season! ;) Glad she's still close, i always liked the look of her as a pup, try and get some adult pictures up of her if you can. In your neck of the woods this weekend actually, well ish anyway! :victory:

  3. Yep we've had them at most meets so far . . . . . . couple of "interesting" moments . . . .. but our local police are excellent and generally leave with a van full by lunchtime.

I remember coming to a meet with your pack 2 seasons ago, i was shocked at the sabs moving through cover with the hunt filming everyone, and the 2 police 4x4's, panda cars and a police camera car filming everything, feck that, im used to my quiet backwoods pack

Different hunt to the one you used to frequent .................. but the anti presence is strong in this area, they come up from London and bring their own "packs". They have little impact on the day or the enjoyment of the field/followers ......... sometimes a bit scary when i find myself in deep cover with my camera and a pack of masked sabs!!! In fairness their issue isn't really with me, and apart from 2/3 hairy moments, most the time they let me get on with my job. Their presence is often a wasted exercise as we always hunt a drag and follow the limitations of the hunting act. ;)

  4. Here's mine, good little dog . . a natural little mooching companion, will have a go at anything, size and strength obviously lets him down in various situations, but never stops him trying. Excellent stamina and independent in his thinking and ability. Biddable, intelligent and steady. A pleasure to own.

  5. I have always taken the "point and slip" term to be a derogitary term towards ares holes that keep a dog in a kennel 22 hours a day, give it no training and end up with a wreckless, pent up lunatic on the end of a slip . .. . . which he can point and slip regardless of terrain, conditions or location . . . . . then return it to its kennel and sit and masturbate about its efforts over the internet.

  6. I was in the middle of the African Bush tracking Rhino when we heard via the radio, i was travelling with 3 american guys at the time and 1 of them lost a friend who worked in the Tower . . . . . i'll never forget the anguish of that day, it took us 2 days to get anywhere where we could find out the true magnitude of the story, and what a shock when we did.

I was in New York on the anniversary in 2007 . . . . we visited ground zero and i can't quite explain the effect it had on me. Being there and seeing the narrow streets enclosed by huge buildings, you can't even imagine the sense of deverstating panic those poor souls must of felt on that day. Awful. :(

  7. The lab i rescued has had a couple this summer . . . they are disgusting!

I put him straight on piriton tablets, shave the fur off and scrubbed it twice a day with a diluted hibi scrub solution . . .. . . and also got some cream from my vet which is fantastic, its a steroid cream, but works.

I was told soaking it in cold black tea also works, i didn't try this but heard excellent stuff about it.

They spread rapidly and are immensley painful for dogs. As has been suggested above a raw diet may also prevent them.
