  1. Every year i love these threads! . . . . Putting a coat on a dog thats being lead walked in shit weather DOES NOT make you gay . . . what it will do is ensure the dogs muscles are kept warmed whilst exercising. First thing that gets thrown over a race horse once its crossed the line as is walked down is a coat . . . . because they are weak, pathetic, soft??? No because they are worth a huge amount of money and anyone with an ounce of sense or knowledge will know that hot muscles cooling too quickly will cause strains and chills.

My dogs are never lead walked and therefore don't wear coats when exercising as they keep themselves warm, however as soon as they are home they are put into equa fleece coats and keep them on until they are either dry and warm or brought into the house in the evening. My bitch has had her coat now for 6 years and its still like new, exceptional quality, no buckles or clips to get snagged in the kennel and ultra effective at drying and warming.

These are the type all mine have, more a kennel coat for the reasons mentioned above, if i ever had to lead walk my dogs i would get them the waterproof version.

Where you, and Skycat are going wrong is you are putting the dog's welfare before your own self image.Female's , what do they know?

  3. Has anyone seen any previews to this book?

My copy arrived last week to preview, there was a thread previewing the book, it was however ruined by little green eyed monsters  ...........

Its a simply stunning book. Being a photographer myself, the amount of hours put in to achieve the quality of the photos throughout the book is unthinkable. :notworthy:

An out and out classy book, presented beautifully with gold leaf edged pages, presentation box and quality weight pages .......... the introduction text has you hooked for what is both an educational and factual book, yet oozing with obvious first hand experience of the subject by the author. For anyone that liked the Hare and Swift hound . . . this blows it out of the water!

Best publication out of the Darcy camp ever IMO. :notworthy:

    Well done homo. :tongue2:

  4. it would take a while for all his cattle to drop dead, he has over 500. his silage pits are each the size of small football pitches

dont think its chinese lanterns as id expect to see blood, no scour either.

Well if he can afford to lose a beast a day, without getting a PM done, then he's doing better than any cattle farmers i know. :icon_eek:

The metal from the lanterns is ingested and poisions whilst in the gut, its very small and fine wire like stuff, you wouldn't see blood! :victory:

  5. So sad, really sorry for your loss. You must try as hard as you can not to blame yourself, i've had near misses with mine running next to the car and quad around the farm, could happen to anyone. You can rest assured that quite clearly from your post she had a short but brilliant life. RIP Tilly. :cray:

Get your self another pup, a distraction will help massively. ;)

  6. A new set of false teeth if anyone is offering.. :whistling:

Try a wee visit to the cremmie or do they go into the fire too :hmm:

  7. Boxing day meets are generally more about the social, tradition and support from the community for the hunt ............. They are open to anyone and normally attract big crowds, its a good way to get chatting to regular followers and a positive step into supporting your hunt. :victory:

  8. There is so much hypocrisy on this site its laughable . . . . If you choose to breed a litter and raise them as pups should be raised then you have every right to sell them or give them away, they are your pups and its your choice. The bit about pet or working homes . . . . I would bet my house on the fact that there is a considerable amount of dogs in working homes in a MUCH poorer condition than in there are in pet homes, buying a dog and branding your self in the "working" catagory does not entitle you to treat that dog like its a machine, if anything given what you are asking of him, he deserves an even greater level of care.

So many morons use the term "hes a worker" as a license to keep a dog in poor conditions and lacking in all areas of his wellbeing . . . "but it aint a fat pet so its alright" . . . . i know i'd always prefer my pups to be brought as fat pets than brought by some of the tools who frequent the working dog world.

  9. It's never "black and white " in the hunting of dogs,Hannah ?dog and man can be an "idiot "at anytime in the Field,Staying on the right side of the law ,using loopholes etc..just isn't an option sometimes .I.M.O.

I agree wholeheartedly, however there is a huge difference between a situation arising behond your control whilst out in the field, and creating a situation then purposely photographing a badly marked up dog and throwing it round the internet to make your penis look larger.

  10. I wouldn't staple a cut pad, unless the dog is totally immobilised there will be pressure on the wound, and the staples around it, you will end up causing an even bigger wound. As has been suggested, clean with salt water and allow to heal naturally, if you can put a picture on of how deep it is, it may help. Pads tend to heal extremely well, regardless of depth if left alone and kept clean.

  11. But in fairness . . . . . . How many times do you see the photos of marked up dogs on fb and here with jumped up little pricks boasting about the "gameness ' of their "ripped" bull cross ............. if you give these organisations fuel then they will not need asking twice to stoke their fires. Its awful that the decent dog men and women among us get branded into that category but such is life, as a community the hunting world digs its own grave time and time again. Joe public have not got a clue about the working side of dogs, the differing breeds or their differing jobs, these organisations are VERY good at what they do and articles like this will have the desired effect.

We all have our own opinion on certain areas of the dog game, and rightly or wrongly the gunho "f**k the ban" attitude is mindless and stupid, those amongst us with an ounce of savvy have continued with their chosen sport by using intelligence and tact to manipulate the loops holes in the law to our advantage . ......... As much as i hate saying it, those that chose to completely ignore the ban and the law and do so with a loud speaker attached to their gobs . . . . in my mind deserve everything they get, maybe by prosecuting the idiots, it will eventually lessen the spot light on the rest of us.

Who asked you?.......go and put the kettle on, theres a good girl!! :tongue2: :tongue2:

I will do just that Wilfred . . . . and spit in your tea when you come over later . . c**t. :D

    hannah!

you looked so innocent in your pictures :D

Sometimes only the "C" word will do ! In this case it was also meant as a term of affection, Wilfred knows i'd never spit in his tea!
