Point......Aim.......Fire ...... simple ! It is called pest control ! watch it .... finger off the trigger... simple! it is called ethics! as pointed out, the proper thing to do now would be looking for the cubs and shoot them one by one. It actually is not that hard, to find fox cubs this time of year as the area around the hole looks like a playground. now either wait and shoot the cubs with a .22 or preferably shotgun, then trap the holes... that is not only more effective than taking an occasional adult vixen with a fang full of mice and 10 hungry cubs waiting, it is the ri

Yeah, good job indeed, as I am also allowed to carry this piece of tupperware while hunting: Are you guys in the UK even allowed anywhere near these? -
wow, what a buck! I'd love to see the skull, do you have pictures of it?

It is an EOTech 552, I usually only put it on the rifle if I have to shoot quickly or short distance (max 70meters). I wounded the buck with my first shot as the bullet has been somehow deflected (most of it went into the shoulder of the opposite side, some fragments ripped open the stomach area), so I gave it a few hours to let the traumatic fever set in and then tracked it. For tracking wounded game and the usually short distances and snapshots I found the EOTech to be perfect. In any way better than the 3-12x56 scope I usually use on that rifle. If tracking wounded game in the brush I usual

So I moved one of our portable stands to a new location, hoping to get a few foxes along the ditch around 7pm movement in the far corner between corn and ditch, through my bino I could see it was a roebuck- As roebuck season ends 15th of October I decided, I was going to take it. So I switched binos with rifle and as soon as the buck presented its broadside I shot. Dropped immediately. I reckon it is in the 4-6year old area, tendency towards 4 ... what do you think?

Hi I am looking for, well actually desperately need Nosler Accubond Bullets in .30 diameter with 150grain and 165grain but they are completely sold out everywhere in Germany, they also are on back order at cabela's - any ideas, where I could order them in the UK or maybe someplace else? thanks

Educate me on the .222 Remington please
november replied to november's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Availability is not too bad in Germany, there are about 10 different loads of factory ammunition (remington, norma, RWS..) available as far as I could tell. I do prefer the 223 over the 222, no questions asked - but buying a very cheap (pricewise, not qualitywise) 222 beats not having the money for a good 223 I bought the RWS Jacketed SoftPoint yesterday, they should reach the energy requirements. I usually have my 308 which is fine and all but as boys will be boys and a new toy needs to be played with we have some areas in our "Revier" where I won't run into a boar and even roe -
So I came across this nice .222 Remington rifle and consider using it for fox, badger and the occasional member of the capreolus capreolus family... .222 is the minimum caliber for taking roedeer in Germany, so it would be fine legally. But is it really enough? Any experience? How far can I reach out with the .222 and effectively drop roedeer? Thanks for your input

I must admit, that the only goose I ever shot was with a .308 170grain GECO softpoint .. entrywound was 1cm, exit was about 3cm in diameter. worked just fine. so go, get a 308

A friend of mine has this new scope and as I looked through it, it was like a whole new world. They are supposedley premium scopes, better than zeiss oder swarovski. Does any one here has experience with these?

Never use it I hope it is powerful enaf. I taked over 200 boars. My favorite caliber is 9,3x62 folowed by 8x57IS. It is always a question of god schot placement, I taked one kg with 22 Hornet (headschot). german?

I have close to no experience with deutsche jagdterriers, sorry. They are said to be really tough. and they are stubborn.. like most terriers I suppose. I heard people say, deutsche jagdterriers only have their master to drive them to the hunts. check this out

to flush them out, yes, wer'e allowed to do that. we usually use deutsche jagdterrier and german spaniels for that. some other terrier breeds and sometimes even german longhaired and wirehaired pointers. they have to have passed the hunting examintation thing for dogs (don't know what it's actually called in english).

It was early september and I was sitting on a treestand in a birchtree. behind me swamp, in front of me cornfield, meadow, cornfield. to my right a small creek. I approached the treestand early in the morning when it was dark, as I went back saw this in the meadow: so I decided to visit the place again a few days later. thanks to thee moon one could see sort of ok also after the sun set. around 20:30 I saw a fox but 300meters are a bit too far. around 21:50 I heard noises in one of the cornfields and shorly after that I saw the silhouette of a boar coming out of the cornfield t

still looking for an opportunity to go hunting in the bath/bristol/salisbury area...

This response is failry typical of an irish man and when i hear of Badgers being treated like vermin it does not please me. the Badger in the eyes of people in history had no value for food or otherwise what was discovered and admired was their tough defensive fighting spirit and so a culture developed of breeding dogs to dig them from their setts and also bigger dogs to handle them in the dig and test against them. breeds included the fell terrier, sealyham terrier, border terrier, glen of immal and kerry blue wheaten and irish terriers. there was a code of cinduct and strict rules and regul

I moved to bath because I'll be working in trwobridge as a teacher until the end of may 2009. After that I'll go back to Germany to finish studying. 25 years old, german national. As already said, I have experience with hunting boar and roedeer, especially roedeer. Also quite a lot of experince with shooting foxes, most hunting we do is from the treestand, but I did a little stalking, too. I am confident to place accurate shots to a distance of up to 250meters, given the equipment is sufficient for this. I shoot quite a few foxes during the year. i also have quite a lot of experience w
