Just shot a dog fox about an hour ago I knew he was chewing at something because he was n't too bothered by the lamp Shot him at about yrds and when we went to retrieve him he was lying on what looked like the chewed front leg of another fox. We had shot a fox only about 550-600 yrds away last week. We decided to check this by going back to where the other fox was disposed of. And yes as well as being badly decomposed sure enough it was missing a front leg. This dog was a well fed lad in great condition. Hard to believe he was that hungry to go eating one of his own.

As for them running on a little bit after they've been shot, who knows? They could have been lamped last year and not shot at, but are still wary of the lamp, their adrenaline is at full pressure, they're bound to have enough muscle power to go those few yards until they drop. Don't use one unless we've got a fox thats been lamped before He'll be gone like a shot,but slip on the red filter and it usually gets him to stand just long enough. Orange filter works well too but you can scan a field so much quicker without one. Mickel.
