  1. Seen as your from Brough way have you heard the crack about the guys that walked in to the Tann Hill inn with the lurcher and it picked a lamb up from between some womans legs and went to town on it, police there the lot. Its nice land for the hounds up the A66 (Brough to scotch corner) way just a bit dodgy in places with hidden mine shafts and Tanks firing big ass rounds.

  2. You were heading back from permission so you cant be done for going equipped,

You were stopped leaving Altcar and were not caught red handed with the dog in persuit so you cannot be done for poaching.

Did u say to the copper the motor was moving or stopped when you were shining the lamp over the land ? He will have written this in his little black book of death.

Say in court that you only have rabbiting dogs and you dont believe that they could catch a hare so you wouldnt even try especially not there as you didnt have permission and more so the fact that it would be illegal to set your dogs on a hare and you abide by the law of our country. This is called making your defence of you character to show you are not guilty, just be very very careful with your wording.

A fact of your defence should be that you were wanting to see the vast number of hares and to show the kid as he has only seen rabbits before ;)

Hope this helps in some way

  3. Its in our DNA to hunt, its what the human kind do, we provide for our families and protect our stock. These muppets at LACS dont realise that they hunt every day of their lives, they hunt in the way modern society has changed non third world countries buy hunting for money in the form of always having a job or looking for the next steal or peddling dope to their other tree hugging buddies. I bet half of them put money to charities that help people in third world countries that hunt for pest and food (these hunters will laugh and joke about the big catch), the same as is here with hunts providing a service to farmers by controlling the pest. What happens if the ban stays and packs of hounds fizzle out one by one and we lose the working bred stuff and many years down the line oil runs out. the world as it is now will be in a real mess, this may not be in our life time but it will be in our childrens and our childrens childrens life time, aeroplanes will be no more as there is no way they will run off H2O or solar power, Cargo ships will be the same unless everything has its own nuclear reactor which would be very enviromentally friendly cough cough. The thing that we will always have is the land and all it provides, it provides the food that sheep, cattle, pigs and poultry live off as well as game birds and all other mammals native to our country. Without the means of controlling the red pest in the form of the working hound, terrier and lurcher the tree hating bunny hugging muppets will have shot our kind in the foot not once by bringing the ban upon us but twice by the fact that the working stock would be in major decline. I say tree hating because when these anti's turn up to try and sabotage a hunt or put on a protest they turn up in numbers and often in vans like the layland daf minibus which on its journey puts out about as much pollution as a boeing 747 on an atlantic crossing, f###ing hypocrites

Not exactly coursing but based around the same laws, coursing probably wont be made legal but fox hunting probably will be made legal

Does anyone know what the Royal families view is on the 2005 hunting act?

  4. They die of dehydration after being on level 6 for hours on end, like when you get home from lamping put the dog in the box for 20 mins on level 6 and then fall asleep for the night and then wake up at 7am to find a dead or near dead dog. I have a dog in my box right now as it came up lame a few days ago when lamping (a strain to his front right shoulder) he will be good to take out mid week, without the box he would probably still be lame on friday and miss a week more than with the box.

  5. your only looking at the good points from dam/sire. You could end up with a hound that has lungs the size of a cocker. JMO.

I see what you are saying although a good fit cocker can work solid all day as long as you take a few mars bars in case it starts going in to hypoglysemic shock. Its a bit of a toss up really as a foxhound is a little bit big and a Beagle isnt a choice i personally favour and a straight Harrier would be a little to quick over open land when on scent, thats why i was wanting to know what the cross is like from experience of owning and working them.

:clapper: webby you feckin crack me up..

Glad u laughed but if u dont ask other peoples opinions then you dont find out from the wider veriety of people that are out there working their hounds and hound x's how the different types work. ive done some more research and made a few calls and with the positive comments that i have had im going to be looking for some beagles or beagle x fox hounds or x welsh hound or a mixture and maybe 1 couple of bitche from one litter and another from a different litter.

No messin thanks for yor input towards what type you would go for as it did make me think a little

  6. It might even be worth looking at 4x4's that are petrol with an LPG conversion as long as you have an lpg filling station near by. mitsubishi L200 double cab's can be picked up real cheap in the V6 form, from experience it would be best to find a reputable LPG fitting garage close to you. It should cost around £1600 for a full system to be fitted so deduct that from your budget to spend on the actual 4X4. If you got 22mpg out of the 4x4 on petrol it would work out to be around 35-40mpg on LPG because it is around 55-60p per liter. Just remember you cant go through water above the height of the wheel arches.

Obvoustly there ars a few scratches and dings, one by the drivers side front light/wing, the drivers door is slightly mis-shaped by the handal from having to push the door shut when the lock worked loose and the door wouldnt shut (these aluminium pansls bend easily but dont rust), there is a full dog gaurd. there may be a few things i have missed out. this is a serious bit of kit without going silly serious and having 35" tyres and mor competition equipment although all it would take to get this to full comp spec is a roll cage, 2 winches, front and rear diff locks( Land Rover defenders only have center diff lock as standard.

PRICE £11000 ono i will try to take a few pics tomorrow with the number plate taken off

  10. Ive been looking for a road legal farm/utility quad and the best i seem to have come across is the TGB blade 550 se. it comes fully loaded with front and rear racks, front bumper, front winch, mud tyres, air compressor, 2 water tight lockers and all the usual 2wd-4wd with diff lock and the best bit is the V5 doc and number plate. insurance is around £400 and ridden on a car licence. Just wanted to know if anyone has experience with them and how reliable they are. I am selling my land rover defender 90 TD5 on a 2002 in bonatti grey with more modifications than i can mention including nearly £2000 worth of uprated suspension that has just been fitted (brand new). The website is www.tgbatv.co.uk

Any positive input rather than just saying, WHAT A LOAD OF SH1T.

I would of thought that a well experienced dog man of your calibre would have more positive comments to put down, hasnt your father been with a vermin club for many years or am i wrong on that, if not then i thought you would know more on the subject to give something informative back.

Belive me there are alot better dog men out there than me, who do more and know more.

Your right my dad does run a few hounds for a gun pack. They have 4 welsh hound x springers all from the same litter.

In my opinion they dont have the wind of a hound and burn out on a warm day. 3 of them look like big spaniels and the other looks like a welsh hound.

I dont think the spaniel brings anything to the table for what they are used for. Terrier x Beagle or straight beagle would be my choice as a ratching type dog.

Thankyou for a sensible, honest, informative and Gentalmanly reply. I know you do well enough with what you have and as long as it makes you happy thats all that matters. I spoke to a couple of huntsmen and they suggested springer if it was a cross breed that was to be used. The two main things i see in the cross is that the spaniel brings obedience and with reducing the size it slows them a little as they would be hunted on foot over open fell and moor, rock, crag heather gorse and wood .

  13. A kid only gets one life and one chance and it could be the first time you pop out of the room and bang the kid could be gone.

No dog is to be trusted 100% and most bullx's would easily get their whole mouth round a kids head never mind the neck. Big hardcore working bullx's should really be kept locked in the kennels away from the kids. I have had 4-5 repetative bites off a bull grey wippet on my hand through sorting out a kennel fight and i was a mess, it compares to a shotgun accidently going off but for the kid its the face that gets it.

  14. Its black and white aint it.

Im not going to lie about what she is because from her structure most if not all educated terriermen will know that she is not pure russell. The plan though is to put a good strong Russell dog over her and see how the pups turn out.

I just need to find a dog to use that ticks all the boxes.

Why would her structure let you tell what she is?

When you see her in the flesh

no such thing as a pure russell she russell type one of her parents had russell in them or grandparents

Forgive me if im wrong as i am certainly no expert but the breed of black terriers is only just over 100 years old and as a structured breed as they are today it would only be around 80 years old. Before this it was a mixture of all sorts including white terriers and white ilfracombe club terriers, so this shows that they have white in thier make up (be it 100 years ago). Peoples opinions on classification of type are obviously/mostly based on how the breed is TODAY, or for the people lucky enough for terriers to have been a family affair it would/could be based on the breeding over the last 50 years or so. The terriers around 100 years ago were not as they are today SO todays terriers are not exactly pure bred but more bred to an exact type that we have now. The reason i added the picture of my terrier is that in its gene pool it will carry some genes of russells be it 100 year old genes.

Alot of black terriers have white feet or the cross on thier chest, I think 1 other pup out of the litter had these,
