Houndsmen hunt for the thrill, lurchermen hunt for the kill
-
Nixy, try not to use the word set.....
-
THATS SOME OF THE WORST I'VE SEEN. SHOCKING THAT THESE PEOPLE CAN WALK AWAY FROM THAT HOLE LEAVING IT LIKE THAT.

Disagree a Hare at night if it runs fast enough can run out of the lamps sight but during the day it can be seen by the dog every step of the way.
Had a saluki cross she was better in the day than at night..
A HARE WILL FIND IT HARD TOO GET OUT OFF THE BEAM OVER HERE IN THE SMALL PADDOCKS OF FIELDS WE HAVE. THEY WILL BE OFF THEIR PAD AND RUN IN CIRCLES PUZZLED AND EVENTUALLY TIRE.
IT TAKES A GOOD DOG TO LIFT A HARE DURING THE DAY, A VERY AVERAGE DOG COULD LIFT ONE ON THE LAMP.
PENNY, IS THEIR FOREIGNERS HUNTING DOWN YOUR WAY??

i think hares should be left to breed for long time then as someone mentioned earlier organise a big hare shoot. hares are a big part of our irish hunting heritage and should be allowed to get their numbers bk up.
HUNTING HARES IN IRELAND IS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT STORY THAN IN ENGLAND. HARES ARE LEFT FOR THE DAYTIME FOR THE COURSING LADS OR THE MANY FINE PACKS OF HOUNDS THIS ISLAND HAS. ANYONE SHOOTING A HARE IN IRELAND SHOULD HAVE THE GUN TAKEN OF THEM AND BEAT ROUND THE HEAD WITH IT.

Theres not much honesty left in the country nowadays. How can none of these dogs be tracked, surely someone will be offered one of these and there would have to be doubt in their minds as too were the dog came from etc.

Well done IL, a full moon this last few nights so it was bright but you got a result, good stuff

Theres nothing you can do fella, thats the patterdale terrier for ya.
What utter nonsense.......
Batter the livving daylights out of the little c**t next time he rocks into another one of the dogs.......if he carrys on untill adulthood, get the c**t put down if you cant keep the dogs apart and you cant live with it.
Some dogs are fighters and some aint.....its got feck all to do with the breed.
Do you keep black dogs WILF? If you did you would realise that they have to be kennelled on their own. They will lock on to another dog in seconds. To me its just one of those things you have to accept.

Those photos suggest he can only catch them on camera
Seems like everyone on this site has too take photos of every single catch. Is that what your suggesting? I never put any photos of catches up because i don't need all this "well done" bullshit too make me realise what my dogs have.

Cracking bitch bradders, shes doing the job too and thats the main thing.

Have had good dealings with Strong Stuff and Molecathcher. Molecather gave me a lot of information and wasn't in to take my arm off. Strongstuffs gear is top quality.
A lot of messers though, not name and shame though.

'Respect for quarry' is fading due to the young lads of nowadays that have respect for nothing never mind quarry. That includes their dogs as well.
Never hunt out of season unless it is necessary (Keepers for gamebird protection)
All this night time shooting that goes on as well, lads out in jeeps shooting maybe 14 or 15 foxes a night. Is one or two not enough. WHERES THE RESPECT IN THAT.
Surrounding small bogs with maybe 15 or 16 lurchers leaving the fox with absolutely no means of escape. Thats not respect or sport in my eyes. If a fox gets away fair fu**ks to him.
Digging burrows and leaving them a complete mess is another one. No respect there.

I hunt for the kill surely but the houndsmen in my area don't. They have far more enjoyment out of watching the hounds ghoul giving the hare a couple of rings and talk about what hounds are doing well etc. They hate too see a hare killed, it doesn't happen that often but they don't be happy. Thats why they dislike the lurchermen.
