Was up your way last week mate, spent a few hours with my uncle is pretty un well now, thought of you for some reason as I passed Hampton Court.

Hope your uncle is recovering, is he receiving treatment in Kingston? Decent hospital, my lady used to be a nurse there. Worrying times when a family member is in poor health sadly.

nice looking place mack, but, a bit to posh for me, the last time i went to an upper class restaurant with my best mates family i got the dagger eyes and shock horror look when i picked up the chop bones to get them tasty bits off with my teeth.......lol

I did a horrendous faux pas once,I was about 18 and fresh out of Sunderland where my definition of fine dining was an egg on my beans and chips.

in Paris in a resto and the waiter put a saucer with a small bowl of clear liquid a slice of lemon, and a napkin beside me,I thought “Ah,Clearwater soup?” So I squeezed the lemon into the bowl and drank the finger bowl.

Scotts is in Mayfair mate, the place where Nigella Lawsons ex gave her a slap years ago...

It has a massive ice bunker in the middle of the restaurant, great seafoodonly thing is half the stuff has travelled there from Devon or Cornwall so I feel a bit of a mug driving 200 miles to eat the stuff I can catch  minutes away!!! lol

There’s a Scott’s in Richmond mate, right on the river, been in a few times but I will drop into the Mayfair one,it’s on the list.

@mackem If you like Indian food Benares in Mayfair is well worth a look, 1 star place but doesn't scrimp on portions... we went a couple of years back, also went to Sindhu in The Complete Angler in Marlow, its Attul Kuttchers place...food is fantastic and lovely spot to eat..

I love Indian food,I shall certainly go to Benares.I saw an incredible advert for Guy Ritchies meat dishes in his pub Lore Of The Land in Fitzrovia,I was supposed to be going for lunch today but couldn’t make it,that’s my next target.

We getting our wires crossed, Mack, you never saw a coconut curry in goa or the ivy?  Lol  👍

Culinary wise, I get what you're saying, but goa is famous for it's coconut based curries.

Goa is famous for fish curries, coconut is an ingredient,it isn’t called coconut curry, how many times have you been to Goa and seen Coconut curry? Its like saying spice curry because it contains spices no?

    Sunderland....absolutely stunning mate...lol

I think the best part was the A19 going south out the city...

It’s an acquired taste right? But I agree, the best thing about the place is the road out.

    How was Sunderland mate?

Right, got this blue-collar work sussed. My mate said do you want to do a lock job,I was going to go for a rack of lamb at guy Ritchies pub for lunch so I said no,he said I would be doing him a favour so off I went, easy Peasy £150 for 45 minutes work, popped the locks and replaced the two euro-cylinders,and someone must have been squatting in there at some time?

Half term next week.... thinking of taking my lad to jockland for a couple of days. Was thinking Edinburgh and the castle then perhaps Stirling castle along with a visit to Roslyn chapel.

Any suggestions for accommodation that would be suitable for Edinburgh and Stirling, maybe somewhere in-between.

Is accommodation in Edinburgh really expensive?

Any other ideas of places to visit?

Air BnB is your best bet, lots of choice, haven’t been to Edinburgh in years so can’t remember the cost.

I actually thought of you today,I saw a genuine pith helmet hanging on a wall in a gentlemen’s club in Richmond.

Sounds like you stumbled upon some real gems! I totally get the vibe of finding those authentic, bustling places that just keep you coming back. I've had similar experiences at a Korean restaurant in Auckland. The energy and flavors were just out of this world. It's those places where you feel like part of the family, even if you're not from the same background.

Love Korean food, and quirky little oriental resto's.
