  1. Cheers mate thanks for the reply, hopefully i'll get out soon and get a few more!
  2. Is that ok for their skin mate? What about their mouths? I saw these wipes in morrisons specifically for dogs.. dunno about using them on mouths though.
  3. Do you not disinfect their mouths or paws? These dogs are always licking, if you leave a hand or foot showing it gets licked haha.
  4. It's not too bad mate, you can hold it out at arms length by just the handle.. I might put a strap on after. I was looking at chainsaws and hedge trimmers but couldn't find one cheap enough so i just got this strimmer. Does the exhaust muffler on yours have a bit of pipe sticking out or is it flat? Mine's flat and also aluminium so welding steel to it's not possible, i'm getting two pieces of flat bar made, one with a tube on to line up with the hole on the muffler... ill make a gasket to go inbetween aswell. The idea is to clamp round the muffler. It might not work well but i'll see.
  5. My questions don't seem to be answered in the usual online literature so i thought i'd ask.. The ratting dogs live in a garage built onto the house in cages, but during the evening are allowed into the house. They'd never been worked before but when we found a big fat rat in the garden the other day they knew what to do and sorted it sharpish! We want to try and do a bit more ratting for something to do but i wondered what people do about cleaning their dogs after? I've been on that ratting.co.uk site and seen a few pictures where people are holding all their dogs after for pictures? Surely
  6. it must be a notts thing ,cos ive always called them gadders Haha how strange! PM sent.
  7. The red dog looks amazing mate, well they all do actually!
  8. Sorted it, nylon string, soap, sore fingers and boiling water. Feel free to delete both posts as they have been a waste of time for you all. Chris
  9. Has anyone fitted these without drilling out the holes more? I've made the pins to hold the bands once they've been folded and pushed through but i can't get them through.. I tried pulling them through with a looped guitar string but it was just too tight and cutting in slightly. Any advice would be great? Chris

  11. Sound mate, is that somewhere near the dog racing track? Don't know that side of town too well but i can do a search for it on google. Couldn't seem to find anything other than course fishing before. Chris
  12. Does anyone know of anywhere nice to fish in the nottinghamshire or derbyshire area? I'm dying to get into fly fishing, i went a handful of times with my late uncle quite a few years ago and i loved it.. we caught loads and he taught me how to prep the trout i caught. I have the odd weekend free so it makes sense to do something productive. Thanks Chris
  13. Good man! I'm hoping for some catapult kills as my new one will be finished today. Anyone else ever call them gadders? Or is that a notts thing.. Chris
  14. And no i don't get paid for it, it's just a permission i got through family
  15. Cheers lads i think i'll try that come winter then, i've done loads more research on snaring so i think i'll go over again this weekend with a bag full and see how it goes. I might sleep on the shoot this time and see what they're doing with the night vision. Thanks for you help chaps, glad i didn't get a mouth full of abuse. Chris
  16. The gate isn't as it opens onto a tunnel maybe he's not allowed, maybe no rabbits come through the tunnel i dont know, one side of the fence runs up to it but the other has a ditch with a fence coming outwards. They're probably not coming though there... it's more at the bottom. I just dont see how you can remove that amount of rabbits from a warren that size, surely using ferrets will be impossible due to the amount of holes and the amount of nets/ferrets needed. I know nothing of warren structures but i'd imagine in a bank like that there would be so many enterences you cant see that ferrets
  17. nice one mate, i think i'll have a go at making one of those at the weekend
  18. Hello everyone, i'm pretty new and i'd love some advice if possible. 99% of the rabbits on my shoot are in one area, they have the perfect home in the form of a disused railway bank running for a good 800 metres or so. They became such a problem that the owner put a wire fence about 1 metre away from the bank all the way down apart from an area at the top where it changes to the owners next door, an area near a public gate mid way and an area at the bottom where there's a bridge over the stream. The issue is that they're probably just sitting behind this fence near there little houses
