  1. I recently notified a farm that I have visited for Pest Control for about five years that my colleague and myself would be happy to visit the Farm to contain pests during the sowing season again this year (really renewing our permissions). I received a letter back informing me that the Farmland has now been bought by an Investment company and that continued permission l cannot be renewed, only by the new owners. I telephoned the Farmer who told me that his position now was one of 'Caretaker' only until the new owners can organize the take over. He, himself was putting the farmhouse up for sa
  2. There is a website that has ferret rescue. Try 'Googling' Ferrets
  3. Welcome. I enjoyed your country for eight years. I lived in Riverside S.Ca. For me it had everything I wanted (including less gun regulation) I regret that my wife's contract with the University ended and we had to come back to Cambridge.
  4. How can you call the person who took in the dog "A meddling person". If the owner had more concern and control over his dog it wouldn't have wanted to "Go for a Walk".
  5. There has been several cases of Fly Tipping in East Anglia recently Some annoying but some very serious such as Waste Disposal drivers dumping waste chemicals in ditches. And a really audacious one of a Concrete Mixer Driver dumping his load of concrete in a wood which filled Rabbit Warrens and damaged trees. These acts of vandalism is killing off wildlife and causing havoc for Farmers who are bound by law to have this rubbish removed. It also increases patrols in the areas concerned. Although I am not "Au Fait" with the Police I am willing to report any acts of Fly Tipping that I see in pro
  6. I was reading in my local paper tonight that a mutant variety of the grey squirrel is on the increase. This variety is black and is more aggressive than it's cousin the Grey squirrel http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/cn_news_ho...e.asp?id=309930 This is the article in my paper
  7. Thanks for that information. I will try that process out to the letter and let you know the result.
  8. And there in, I strongly suspect, will lie ye answer. Talk to the farmer, by all means, but I wouldn't push too hard if I were you All this talk of fertilisers? Smacks somewhat of a typical, wet behind the ears, bunny hugging young girl in a brand new white coat. She'd likely be more at home castrating healthy Dogs and saying pets need to be put on a drip than thrusting her hand anywhere up to her arm pit. Tuleremia? If that's amongst the uk rabbit population, no one ever told me about it. Checked Google? Ditch, When I came across this I found out later that the Farmer dip
  9. I have two fourtens, an old Belgian s/s folding, hammer gun and a Cooey Single magnum. Now I use the same manufacturer cartridges in each Ely fourten but the s/s is two inch chambers and the Cooey is 3 inch chambers. The s/s is a 'Pig' to clean and the Single is quite easy. I have scoured the Bores with boiling water, put the bronze brush through it several times, used cleaning oil. Is there any possibilty that the quality of the metal used on the old belgian guns is different to the modern guns. Any ideas on how to get this gun clean without taking it to the gunsmith and having reamed
  10. What are you saying that these Rabbits are "Binge Drinking"??
  11. Don't you mean Origami?? SAME THING Is this the same Jigsaw that went into Doolhan's Bar and said to Michael the Bartender. "Give me a stiff drink. I have just had another fight with the Little Woman" Michael looked at him boreingly and said" What have yuz done this time" Jigsaw said" Ah now, I had her crawling to me on her hands and knees this time" Michael replied " and what did she beg of you" Jigsaw stood straight and said " She shouted come out from under that bed you Chicken-Shit"
  12. I actually use a S200 Air Arms. I find them exellent at 35 yards. A little weighty. But what you have to consider with all precharged air guns is that although you have about seventy shots (22) you have to consider that you need to include the charging set and bottle in calculations, and possibly a scope so overall you have to be prepared to find £500 for new. The best thing you can do is to log on to Gun Trader. I have seen good full kits on there BSA and Webley.
  13. They are going to have them skinned and have them made into a snakeskin belt or rifle sling. ffs i just cant understand some people, what a pair of pricks tell them to leave the f@cking things alone Yeah Right! one is ex SAS ,6ft 2in, and into Martial Arts. I'll send you the address You can make your views clear to him. (why do you think they are called "mates". As I said they are both nutcases)
  14. I have come across this before also. I cut the liver out and took it to the local vet (because I feed my dog and ferrets on the offal) She was quite young for a vet and mainly dealt with domestic animals. However she thought it was due to fertilizers or other chemicals in the ground by farmers. She did keep the livers and sent them for analysis at the Cambridge University. I never heard back. 15. I don't know if this will do you any good but about thirty years ago my colleague and myself had a similar problem when trying to clear an old derelict brickworks. We had managed to clear all the obvious warrens but there were two concrete bases that had been the old kilns. They were too big to enclose with long nets and too many escape routes for the rabbit. As it had been derelict since the 1950s there was piles of bricks that had become overgrown. If we had lost ferrets we would have needed a JCB to dig them out. My mate saw a solution in getting two foxes from another mate and spread the
  16. I'll bring that to their attention

  18. I have two "Nutty" friends who are Hunting mad. Because the weather is now getting warmer it is the time when Adders and Grass snakes are out looking for a mate. These two "Nutcases" have decided to to go to Winterton in Norfolk to capture BY HAND adders and Grass snakes which are plentiful around grass and heathland at this time of the year. When asked WHY the reply was "It is easy to hunt a quarry that can't fight back". The Adder is the only poisonous British snake.
  19. The best Cross is a Greyhound/Collie (border Collie) because as you say you have the speed and brains supplied by the collie. Collies are the MOST intelligent of all working dogs. I have been hunting for over sixty years (including Poaching) and the collie cross is the easiest to train and they have a NATURAL instinct to control the quarry. They respond immediately to whistled instructions. When poaching they will circle the field and drive the quarry to gate nets or snares on command. Good info My whippet X collie is a dream to rabbit with... shes way ahead of me in the'know how' and

  21. Wilf, This is "Permission" not "Exclusive Shooting Rights". Permission prevents you being prosecuted for tresspass (and the landowner "Allows" you to take pests from the land) Permission is restricted. He can give permission to two hundred more people (and probably would at £1000 a time.)
  22. The sub-prime motrgage 'Cock up' has left the banks in this country with high outstanding debt balance. The "City" investors are now switching their investments to Agricultural land. This means that 'Tenant Farmers' will obviously be facing higher rents and costs. To compensate for these increases from the land owners agents you may well find that you will have to pay for your "Permissions". This has already started the East Anglia and some farmers endevouring to meet the increase in costs are charging as high as £85 for shooting and hunting permission on their farms. I can only see a great
  23. There are three copies of the same DVD. Not three seperate subjects. If the three Replies on this post will send me an address, I will post them off. Dullahan (I will reply to the P.Ms.) Sorry but all the DVDs have gone to the first three respondents (see Above) I will put some more on Next week when I have sorted the surplus (all still FREE) Dullahan.
