  1. Went for a walk up the mountain with the dogs just exercise (for me more than the dogs) :11: Bit cold but a loverly afternoon The dogs had a good look about but scent was poor Checked out some old levels which used to be excellent some years ago but now over worked and barron. Alas a dam good walk and shed some calories after festivities  :11:
  2. Boots I use an L F Striker 170 with the dimmer and i think its awsome, my [bANNED TEXT] takes the L F Blitz 240 with dimmer excellent lamp. Though i dont find it hugeley more powerfull than the 170 but it dose give more beam, i personally dont like the size of the lamp, but they seem very popular. Also my [bANNED TEXT] said the clip on colour lenz are a nightmare to put on due to the number of clips on it, he resolved it by cutting some off

  9. Cheers [bANNED TEXT] the lurcher is a line beddy x greyhound 11mth and 27" hes doing realy well on rabbits and had some big courses this night. The mink was called in to about 30yds but i couldnt work out what it was untill i put full beam on it. So what u do with them ? could do alot of damage to a young dog could they ?
  10. Well done Boots How olds the JR bitch
  11. Went out on saturday for a days hunting, got there a bit late (friday nights  ) about midday so decided to do a couple of hours ferreting. No time for nets just bolting for the dogs. The hedges were tight and large warrens so the rabbits just ran arround and had few bolts. The ferret did peg one on the hole. 2pm Decided to walk the woods with dogs and gun, not a stir. Then my 12mth old JR flushed a nice cock pheasent up out of cover, which i gladly obliged as i never seen one in these woods before After another hour and the dogs trailing some scent up flew a woodcock, and that w
  12. I had a whippet x colly/ greyhound bitch which turned on my mates daughter after she had pups the girl was wearing a coat with a furry coller like rabbit colour so we put it down to protection of the pups. But once all the pups had left us she never stopped biting anyone who came to the garden, in the end she had to go. She had never done this untill she had a litter,, so i think all dogs can turn and then you will struggle to correct them or trust them again The half bull on original photos has never showed aggression to anyone and i have no problems with him with any of my dogs, but
  13. Cheers [bANNED TEXT] im sure he will as hes out of good working stuff, Im just holding back at the moment and give him a few more months, before doubleing up.
  14. Taffy That bitch is almost identical to my [bANNED TEXT] and is the sister to the Bull x in the photo, but is finer and shorter but she is doing the bussiness solo. Im out with him all day saturday and hopefully lamp the night in mid wales. Im hopeing well get some decent photos for next post. Nice bitch [bANNED TEXT]
  15. I have two shotguns for rough shooting it jusrt depends on the quarry I use a browning 525 o/u on most things If i was having a day on flushing foxes or on the lamp i use a berretta extrema auto which will take a 3.5" cartridge and will comfortably take down a fox at 75yrds. I know they are about 800 pounds new but its some gun. There are other cheaper 3.5" autos available for your price range my mate has one i think its a bikel and he swares by it. I just have a preffrence for berreta.
  16. Sorry [bANNED TEXT] pic dose him no favours, hes very fit out almost every day and even follows us when we are out on the horse. I was quite supprised when i saw the photo, but he did have an infection on his foot which laid him up for a week, not long before this photo was taken. cheers
  17. Charlie Bang on, ive been out with these dogs many a night and the stamina on the bull x when rabbiting on the lamp is " pretty admirable " and he takes lots of rabbits. As they are both young dogs Beddy x 11mths and 27", Bull x 18mts and 25" i am looking forward to working these dogs alot togeather. But it just seems that alot of people have Bull in their lurchers for foxes. I understand the reasons for this, just curious as to wether or not i should have opted for this.
  18. Thanks for your input  To clarify a point its regarding lurchers with bull in them and those which dont Oterwise the topic would be Lurcher vrs Lurcher Some people :realmad:
  19. I know this may cause arguments and i appologuise before hand but i have to settle my mind. Ive been lamping rabbits for some time and have used mainly small whippet type dogs ive also used these type dogs in the day, bushing or ferreting and with good success. Now im moving on to lamping foxes as well as rabbits so i bought a Beddy x Grayhound from a very experienced hunter, whos dogs can be guarenteed. I have no experience with Bull xs but my mate has one and is working well on rabbits, has beed doubled up on charlie and is now ready for his first solo. I was out
