  4. Hi, if I am decoying then I will have either skeet or 1/4 choke in if out shooting rough then either 1/2 or 3/4 and coast shooting Geese then either 3/4 or full depending on if I have to use steel shot. the difference is the ammount of pelets in the circle at the same distance have a look at the link then you can see the difference with the skeet choke you will have a larger pattern at a closer range and with the full choke you would have the same pattern but at a further range. http://www.angelfire.com/tx/ShotGun/ hope that makes sence. Hts

I would be looking at one of the big ones either in 6-24X56IR or in 8-32X60IR will be using the rifle for all sorts of vermiin and also roe deer in Germany. (long shots from high seats) the link below only has the scopes mounted on air rifles so could someone please help Cheers HTS http://gunmart.net/accessories_review/mtc_...6_x_50ir_scope/

  9. Just shot 6 on Monday they are on the pest list. My dog was sent to the Island in the middle of the pond to see it there were any nests out there and there was one so she brought me the eggs (6 one after the other just incase anyone thinks that my lab takes a basket with her when sent out accross the pond) and they are now in the incubator to see if the young ones will pop out. Canada geese will leave the water that they are hatched on about 4 weeks after they have left the nest. Cheers HTS
  10. a .22 will stop a fox I would always go for a head shot but there was a colum in the sporting shooter about this and the rib shot was recomended for the simple reason that a second or third shot with a semi would be possible Cheers HTS
  11. the farmer next door said that a few of his chicks had gone missing so I sat in the barn nice and warm with the street lamp lightening up the area around the chicken pen at 10.30 i had the first visit and after a quick whistle the 22-250 sang and the fox droped in her tracks, 11.10 the second one came and circled the pen and went out on to the field behind the barn where there was just enough light to stop him. sorry about the pic it was taken on the phone HTS

  15. Hi I Have just had a look at a site called youngmans.com all of the scopes are on there but there are no comments on them. has any one tried one as I am also buying a 22-250 and the scopes look like a lot of kit for the money. Cheers HTS
  16. PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY it should be better for a working dog to not have the tail docked should be an interesting read. even if you just think of a dog turning or going backwards in a tube you must be able to see that a longer tail would do the dog any benifits. if the dog is going through the bushes and thorns you could also see that the tail wags with some speed and is more like a whip in most breads, in such cases the tail can take some serious damage and have to be removed when the dog is older. Tails on working dogs have been docked as long as dogs have been working with man, and the dock

  23. if you have not got permission to shoot the pea field then try and get hold of the brest feathers of a few woodies and then throw the feathers onto the field where the peas are, should stop them going there and set up on the land that you have permision on under the flight line where they cross the road. if you are lucky then the wild will be heading from the road onto the pea field which means you will not even have to set foot on the field. failing that ask the farmer if you could put something onto his field to try and stop the pidgeons from landing, if the farmer allows it then pu
  24. one good thing is that your decoy pattern must have been good and the second is if some birds see others feeding then why not join in had it happen to me over here with geese and pidgeon decoys. keep at it HTS
  25. Hi, I have had one now for about a year and they are perfect for the young foxes and crows. if you know where there is a set with the cubs in and don't have a terrier that can help then set the small feather bundles up about 25 yards from the set in site of the entrance and then get into a good position to wait. I have walked up to the set and the cubs have run in only to come back out 10 mins later they will be interested, I then wait and let the .22lfb do the rest if you have a silencer on it then you should have no problem getting the whole lot in one evening. if you use it for
