hare i assume? we have a few different hare species here not sure how the compare though i think the biggest would be the black tailed jack rabbit inthe west followed by the white tailed jack rabbit and snowshoe and the smallest probably the swamp hare and are cotton tail rabbits are all about the same with little variation in size.

itis cute though what exactly is it? and what would you use it for. the black puppy that is.

i know there are some ointments made for sled raceing dogs that are suppossed to work well and also some preventive ointments available here but i think running dogs have more nail contact with the ground due to foot design most people here breed more for "cat footed"dogs than "harefooted" or elongated dogs and this might slow a dog down but i doubt it. the one ointment i've used is supposed to protect slipped pads and worked well as long as the dog didn't lick it of before it dried but i wouldn't think it would stand any hard work but the preventives seem to harden all skin they are used on

hey hunt what you got. sight hounds don't do well in parts of the us. the country is to rough and broken to really run some thing down . although i was raised in the great plains and hunted coyotes with sight hounds these hunts vary alot since if the coyotes were given to much lead they had a good chance of winning the race. pure grey hounds are fast enough but hurt themselves too much and don't make good kill dogs . the more common dogs were bordercollie , deerhound , wolfhound or foxhound crosses some cattle dogs to. i had never seen a bullcross that i know of, but that might work as a kill

the scent hounds there must work rather slow then? what state does your uncle live in? i've seen fox hunting we have similar hunts here for fox and coyote although the dog are quit a bit defferent 25-27 inches and 45lbs and up more grey hound blood

anyone have a close up of a hare and rabbit side by side or can point out the differences ie weight etc.

i don't know what a wind up means. but if its sarcastic no. no one i know of uses anything like pit bull or bull type dog on big game . besides boar they try to over power animals that one dog just can't over power and live through it. a dog that knows the rules lives longer not that they won't pull fur they just know when to back up. the pictures are great i just was wondering are there any scent hounds still in use over there or any where for that matter . we do carry guns even on pursuit only hunts just in case. mtn lions aren't that bad to pull dogs off they normaly tree, bear don't alw

how do the work a raccoon is this by sight or do they trail? do the they tree?
-
well a big game hound varys some but generaly they hunt by scent then jump the game and run it untill it bays, trees or is killed. the game hunted determines the ideal dog but they look some what like an english fox hound although mine are lighter built with more leg . they also run a track at a pretty good speed. they aren't sighthounds although they carry some blood. some dogs are heavier with a blood hound look not show blood but working blood .

most big cats don't generaly look silver they usualy have tan or yellow and the closest thing to silver i've seen is a grizzled grey. the snow leapord could look silver although they are a lot bigger than what you described. and i've never seen a wild cat with rings the closest" ring" i've seen is the rosests on jaguar but i've never been over there so i can anly guess from the wild cats i've seen. one thing most wild cats are over 15-18 lbs for the small ones so unless it was one clearly fat house cat . look at the cross breed pets and make a guess. even "small" wild cats usually put up quit

ban on what exactly
-
you sure it's not the normal clean out of a excited dog ready to hunt?
-
thanks whats "preban"? how big are these dogs and what breeding. do you have any big game animals?
-
check make sure it's not deep enough to cause damage to tendons then clean and start medicating as needed, wrap or stitch if needed. i don,t run dogs untill the skin is healed enough not to be reopened. then pick the ground you turn them out on carefully"not rocky" my dogs take about two weeks to heal . the best cure would be to toughen their pads . by kenneling your dogs on a rough sourface you'll prevent soft pads.
