  1. Dogs are like kids the most valuable thing you can give em is your time no dog ever became a worldbeater overnight it takes patience. More dogs have ruined by pushing em too early and then giving them away as useless sad but true .
  2. Rome was nt built in a day eventually the penny will drop its only a pup still. you d be well sick if you parted with her and she turned into a cracker for someone else. Just a thought though does it make a differance wich way the rabbit turns or is both ways good luck
  3. Both my lurchers jump well. But its a good idea to know whats at the other side of the wall. So knowing the ground your working is very important for me. Having said that years ago when i was just starting out someone gave me a bitch i had to lift over styles Idid nt have her long she was a really good looking dog too so finding her a pet home was easy. Now i m a lot older i could do with a dog that will lift ME OVER.
  4. when we were lads we used to make em out of old bycycles we d take the back tyre off wind some string round it put a lure on the end and wind like feck. kept both us lads and the dogs fit out of season. Then we d put the tyre back on back on and ride home. Happy days. Though now i m 60 the one above looks alot better machine alltogether well done
  5. Mist over pendle. a book about witches i liked it so much i married one. OH SHIT SHE S BEHIND ME
  6. feck me ditch you are one thrifty man i bet you still have your first shilling. bathe your arse with bi carb in hot water it will remove most of the pain. Do you have asda in irelandyou can buy a pair of jeans for three quid. not best mind you but good enough for sitting on the fence. :shout:
  7. I CAN T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY SELL EM IN SIXES. SURELY BOTH THE BUYER AND THE SELLER WOULD BE BETTER OFF DEALING IN DOZENS. THAT WAY THE BUYER WOULD HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF A FEW PULLETS. UNLESS OF COURSE THE SELLER ONLY HAS TRIO S THEN SIXES WOULD BE OKAY AS THE EGGS MUST BE FRESH TO HAVE ANY CHANCE OF A GOOD HATCH.
  8. IGNORE HER WITH A BIT OF LUCK SHE LL GO TO AFRICA AND BE EATEN WHILST STROKING A LION. GOOD VID MATE
  9. we seem to have come a long way away from being tapped up in Dublin. The prim and proper said no and the rest ran upstairs for a w@nk. I went for a bath its mine and i ll wash it as fast as i want.
  10. most of the crosses sugested will do the job. but its important you get a dog that you like the look of . as you are going to spend a lot of time with it . some like em with a jacket on and some like em smooth. the choice is yours. i would be looking for brains a good turn of speed about 23 to 24 inches. pick what you fancy. then give it all the time you can. you'll get plenty of good advice of this site to help you through the training process. but it is important that you get a dog you like, otherwise it becomes hard work rather than the pleasure it is supposed to be. enjoy the experience an
  11. Give the lad a bit of credit for telling the truth a lot would nt.
  12. Sounds to me like jealousy or the dog sees her as a new member of the pack and its making sure she knows her place in the pecking order. The next time it does it . Grab it by the scruff of the neck and growl at it. let it know your the boss and only you decide who s welcome and who is nt. GOOD LUCK
  13. YOU OFTEN FIND FELL COLLIES WORKING IN THE YORKSHIRE DALES OR THE LAKE DISTRICT OR ANYWHERE THAT THE TERRAIN IS HARD AND STEEP. IN PLACES LIKE THESE THE SHEEP ARE AS WILD AS THEY COME AND A SPECIAL TYPE OF SHEEPDOG IS REQUIRED TO WORK THEM, A DOG WITH BOTH BRAINS AND BOUNDLESS STAMINA IS NEEDED AS ITS NOT UNUSUAL FOR A GOOD FELL COLLIE TO RUN IN EXCESS OF FIFTY MILES A DAY MANY TIMES OUT OF SITE OF THE SHEPHERD. OVER SOME OF THE ROUGHEST COUNTRY IN ENGLAND. YOU DON T SEE TOO MANY OF THEM AT SHEEPDOG TRIALS AS THEY CAN BE A BIT STRONG ON THE SHEEP DUE TO THE KIND OF WORK THEY DO. THEY REALLY A
