deerhound x grey would be my ideal dog, although i did meet a guy a few weeks back witha grey x giant schnauzer !! it was from lines used by the german plod(it broke a leg when a pup so wasn't used by them) and it was fast as you like and has done all quarry but not so great on rabbits in small fields! great coat and got some balls too!" scotty

LOCAL, i have to agree pal, wasnt going to say anything but i always end up doing so. There are to many hard people on this site! to many arsonists and gangsters...... I cant beleive some of the questions asked and some of the statments said.. I mean, asking "was it a head shot" what the f**k!! Let me tell you this, and listen, as this will answer alot of questions....When my mate told me, i was gutted for the guy like alot of you lot were. The first thing i replyed, was "the b*****ds, they cant do that"... Which my mate and petfood man said "thats what i said,"! He then explai

kent scotty replied to a topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
its a wind up!! theres alot of just joined members standing up for each other! they are in no way decent dogs by the sound of things and the mix would be to mixed already to get the one or two with the ess genes.so who are you ? were you chucked off or are you a current member f*****g about? scotty -
An interesting link: Rhodesian Ridgeback, hunting information. Great link I said id quote this particular part of the link for those that doubt the prey drive and say the ridge dosent attack the quarry. Foxes: Although they are not as fast as my usual fox hunting dogs, (deerhounds and wolfhound/greyhound crosses), the Ridgeback has a lot better sense of smell and far greater staying power. These dogs will easily dispatch foxes and we have used them to guard fowl yards and bird aviaries at night. Feral Pigs: The Ridgeback makes a very handy pig dog. A single Ridg

nice size fox! was it hot where you were? scotty

I wouldnt say the ridge isnt game because it bayed the lion. This is a lion were talking about not a fox. A bull would go straight to its death if given this task as they have more drive than brains. I know as I had a staffy. Just because the ridge wasnt suicidal when hunting the lion doesnt mean that it wouldnt go straight for the neck of any mamal over here. breeding to hunt or track is very different to breed to attack!! and they are'nt even breed for that now anyway and have'nt been for sometime! they have what seems to much great dane blood in them now(they are much bigger and t

your talkin crap ,has your dogs never chased off your permission onto anothers land.aye i train my dogs damn well and its never happend to me ,but you only need to be unlucky once.so it could be your dogs in that situation. this guy wasnt unlucky once he was "unlucky" for a few hours and one of his dogs worried a sheep!! if you cant keep dogs(not one remeber but a pack) off sheep land you dont have the right to be on then say good bye, thats how it is so dont get in that situation. scotty
-
stick the margins on your sheep up your backside fella. a simple "oh arsehole put those f*****g dogs on the lead or ill put a bullet in them and get the f**k off my land now" would of done instead of being heavy handed comming out blasting like rambo. my dogs are like my kids imagine the horror witness them being murdered in front of your eyes, no good not good at all i'm not saying its right but it aint rocket science is it!! dont let them be seen to be running free and let them get in the position to get shot! then dont leg it with out having a word! my dogs are like my kids too a

if you dont want yours dogs shot for being in a ilegal place........dont let them or be be on one!! when you poach you know the score if your dogs stray onto others land you should know the score as well. what happened to the world? people used to take responsibility for there actions! now its all " its not fare" "the nasty man" etc!! and as for farmers not caring for there animals its bollocks as a farming familey i know they do care about them ! maybe not in a pet way but they dont want them to come to any harm.and the margins on sheep are very small so any they lose are hard felt.

no disrespect but like you say ,its all suppose ,think ,and may ,i and others have proved other wise.like i said before i looked after a pack of fox hounds and they get it very hard in there first year as far as miles per day goes ,never done them any harm and they get more road work than any other breed of dog .if people keep on saying dont do this or that because it was belived to harm them ,then it wont be mutch longer before we have a breed of lurcher good for 6 rabbits a week .just remember they are breed to work not show .most of what was writen years ago dont stand to day .but dont over

when he says deformed he may mean that young bones are soft and bendy so if you get the muscles to big(more running than walking i would think)they can bend the bones out of shape and give problems latter on.i wouldnt think what you doing would do to much harm but as said rest days are always good for them after a long day. i suppose it depends on how long you think they are going to last ? if you raz them from a early age it will show when they get older.runn them in nice and easy and they may last longer. scotty
