  1. this my dog jesper hes a collie x whippet x greyhound and this is my bros dog simba bred out of my old bitch which was a beddy whippet greyhound to my bros old lurcher dog
  2. i try and get out lamping every thursday regardless as its the only real time i get to lamp my dog but looking out the window tonight its the first time in weeks im thinking i might not bother and i am gutted on one hand im thinking go out and if i catch its a bonus and on the other im thinking ill be lucky get in the same field as a rabbit let alone run one and i just wondered what were other members thoughts on bright nights do you still bother or do you as some of my mates do only go when it looks right for it?
  3. why would i work her on rabbitt pal? surly you dont do you i mean digging after ferreted rabbits is a pain i wouldnt even own a terrier if it went to ground on a rabbit. infact this is the first ive ever heard of it but never mind each to his own ill stick to what i know best i think royston let me know how you get on with it tho hey pal!

  5. my first dog was a 2 year old beddy whippett greyhound and was a fantastic rabbitt dog both day and night i didnt get her until she was 2 years old i managed a litter from her and i will always kick myself for not holding 1 back for myself instead i give a pup to my bro and hes turned out a better allround dog than the mother! and i now have a collie whippett greyhound which i had from pup and hes turned out to be a good rabbitt dog although he is qiute a big lad he still turns well in my opinion taking dogs on that are all ready running can be a bit of a lottery but with a well bred pup you g
  6. me and my bro had a decent day today with the dogs after a slow start we found a nice earth and bolted 2 and dug to another. sorry about the pictures i forgot the camera and we were rushing around trying get her cleaned up.
  7. had a shine tonight with my mate bazz wasnt to bad considering the land we lamped normally isnt the best we ended up catching 3 but should have been more really good thing is my dog jesper is starting get fit again and is starting get into em and bazzes young bitch is showing good signes aswell. sorry about the picture quality but i was soaked and just wanted gone.
  8. good result that a 28 lb this time of year is good going by any standard i had a 26 lb mirror last year in the frost in january then blanked for 10 nights so unpredictable these winters at the mo as i write this im thinking looks good for a bite tonight wet n windy but im off lamping instead1
  9. ha! ha! yeh every picture you see these days is like that my excuse is my dodgy smile! its got to be better than this tho! check that for a big gurning chin!
  10. i go on a few places where they are a bit shy so i tried the red eye on my lamp and that worked for a while but as said in previous posts be patiant some nights i go out and dont get anywhere near and then others i fill my boots but if all else fails get the scent and rabbitt costume and give me a ring i would love see that bouncing across the fields!
  11. yes mate both dogs have done me and my brother proud over the years the blonde dog stands around 24 inches and was bred out of my old bitch megan which was a good rabbitt dog .he is as game as they come and ultra loyal hes so quite you forget hes there infact if i can get a good bitch to put him across then ill hold a pup back off that breeding no probs the other dog jasper is very much a different animal hes very smart and loyal but a tad mard he is mostly a lamp dog but does well with ferretts in the day to a piont where if he dont mark then i dont bother he stands around 26 inchs all in all
  12. not had much chance to get out recently as its hard to juggle the dogs and everything else but i have had a very good season on my local lake the best being this 28lb+ mirror and a 48lb mirror from france.
  13. went out at the weekend and took a couple of pics of jesper and simba! jesper is a collie whippett greyhound and is 3 years old. simba is a beddy greyhound cross and is 5 years old.
  14. a couple of pictures of the terriers titch and fudge the russell is around 4 years old and the the other is a lakland x russell this is fudge on her own she is 6 months in this picture.

  17. hi all im wondering if anyone knows where i can get a reasonable priced slip lead from i lost it whilst lamping last week and although it was very good and lasted a couple of years its still £25 lost in my eyes the other thing is i bought mine from a game fair and i was suprised just how many different slips there are mine had an aluminium block with a spring loaded pin from that ran a piece of string thru a length of leather then there was a wooden toggle to hold and a leather coller to put round your wrist does anyone know the type im on about and if so what they called? and finally ive b
  18. good evening all just wanted to introduce myself to all the forum users i am mainly into the dogs be it terriers or lurchers and love all forms of hunting with them at the moment i have a black lurcher of collie whippett greyhound breeding he stands around 28 inches at the shoulder and i hope to get some pictures of him up asap he is a good all round dog and is good with ferrett in the day but he is mainly a night dog and he will be coming out tonight with me for a quick flick with a couple of friends ill try and let you know how i get on. cheers matp
