Hi Pip
They're all from the same original line, that being the long legged type bred by Parson John Russell, a Devon Hunting Vicar in the 1800's, and now called Parson Russells. The short legged ones, commonly called Jack Russells were further bred down for working in small spaces. The Parson Russells tend to be show dogs, but not all. The photos attached show my dog Tags and he has an excellent hunting line, with his mother working for a Fox Hunt pack in Scotland, and his gran being Winnie the Witch of Hardytown, the Croombe and West Warwickshire Hunt terrier for many years.
