  2. Hi Chartpolski Of course all hunting is done within the law. Hounds are used to flush the Mink either to a gun as today, or if below ground, it is dug out and humanely killed by the licensed terrier men, most of whom work with local Fox Hunts. Here endeth the lesson for today, next week may be a different story . Cheers Ragley; thanks for a straight forward and honest answer to my query !! Sounds like great fun !! Why oh Why couldn't the politicians of thought it through, and made mink and fox vermin, like rabbits and rats ???!! Keep up the good work !! Cheers. Hi I
  3. Introducing Pacolito Paratrooper (Dylan) 12 Weeks old on Tuesday next, and into everything with adopted brother Tags. Tags had his first chomp on a Mink today and hopefully Dylan will have a nibble next week, when we can take him out with hounds.

  5. New Mink Hunting Seasons first meet today and although it was cold, windy and raining, it turned out to be a good although short day. Met at a pub for a Full English breakfast, a few pints of cider, then a short drive to the water. Some 20 odd people followed for an hour before drag was picked up. This led to a large Dog mink being forced up a tree after some hound and terrier activity around the base of the tree. A climber was sent up the tree to bolt the mink, which dived into the water, to be hunted for a short distance upstream before climbing another tree. The climber again tried to
  6. Excellent pics. When you kill all the rats and other vermin, you should take up photography. What camera were you using?
  7. Hope this helps The Cedar Tree Hotel Corbetts Lane, Pwll-y-pant, Caerphilly, CF83 3HX South end of the dual carriageway from Ystrad Mynach

  9. Not the Terrier man, but the estate Under-keeper. His wife breeds Parsons.
  10. Love to, but only started a new job beginning of Feb, and at my age it's not easy to find jobs, so I've got to be a good boy and not take any sickies for a while. Tags has now got a mate. It's another Parson, but only eight weeks old. It should be ready to go out by the first 'Posh Rat' meet, but he won't be walking much, and after trudging around Pool Wood and area following Starsy on foot for 5 hours on Saturday, neither will I! See you soon.

  12. So the story goes. Check out http://www.bbc.co.uk/devon/discovering/fam...k_russell.shtml for a bit more info. Thanks Ragley would you have any photos of the working parents ITS A PITY ABOUT THE SIRE IT WOULD GIVE YOU MORE CONFIDENCE WITH YOUR YOUNGUN,WHY DID THE LAD USE HIM? Tags was born into a Show Kennels named Alncroft, so it's all about confirmation. It's only a quirk of fate that I recognised the name of the breeder as the Kennel Maid from Winnies days and grabbed him before anyone else could. As a show dog, he's had his day. He was Best Pup in the 2007 Scotti
  13. So the story goes. Check out http://www.bbc.co.uk/devon/discovering/fam...k_russell.shtml for a bit more info. Thanks Ragley would you have any photos of the working parents The first one is Tags mother, Champion Alne Foxglove (Clover), and the second is the father, Jagen Johny Riplington. Don't know if 'Johny' has ever hunted.
  14. As Tags came from the Duke of Buccleuch Estate, I can only guess it was with the Duke of Buccleuch's Hunt, unless it was somewhere else before the breeder (Under-keeper) moved to the estate.

  16. Hi Pip They're all from the same original line, that being the long legged type bred by Parson John Russell, a Devon Hunting Vicar in the 1800's, and now called Parson Russells. The short legged ones, commonly called Jack Russells were further bred down for working in small spaces. The Parson Russells tend to be show dogs, but not all. The photos attached show my dog Tags and he has an excellent hunting line, with his mother working for a Fox Hunt pack in Scotland, and his gran being Winnie the Witch of Hardytown, the Croombe and West Warwickshire Hunt terrier for many years. Tags has
  17. had arun in with him last year.turned up at one of our meets with minkhounds.his terriers were all over the shop.told him to couple them up or f**k off.he got a bit pissed off.as for hunt terriermen, some are messers but there are some very decent ones as well, depends on who you hunt with i suppose. Was that before the Port and Brandies or after? Or was it some Thatchers that wound you up? Whatever it was, I totally agree with your comments.
  18. Hi Clarkson hasn't got a sun tan, he's so full of shit that it's showing through his skin. I've had a Sorento for 12 months, and regularly follow 4 or 5 Foxhunts off-road with it. It goes any where that a Disco or Defender goes (General Grabber AT2 tyres fitted) with ease and with far more comfort. The Caravan Club have named it Tow Car of the year for two years running, because it puts the power where it's needed and from my 2.5 Diesel Turbo, I get 38-40 mpg at 50-60 mph with a top speed of 110 on the clock. I've had many people ask me about it while out with the hounds and in fa
