  1. Yeh iv seen a few round Carlisle last few months all crazy money. Iv also noticed a guy on the classified sites in Carlisle who over the last few months , has put 4 different adult dogs ( all lurchers) for sale changing his user name every time and cropping his face off the pics. but the stupid c#*t hasn't bothered to put a different tracksuit on or take them in a different back yard for a picture??? hes also advertised the same dog with exact same pic, twice with different user names saying Whitehaven then carlisle. dogs being stolen left right and centre round here since these prices shot u
  2. I’m from a gamekeeping background and can see this from both sides , iv seen so many times both while I was keepering and since, people given permission to go on land only to then completely take the piss and run a muck. It’s these few dickheads that can make farmers and land owners hesitant to give permission where lurchers are concerned. It’s the same with a lot of things, a few pricks make things harder for everyone one else . Was talking to a farmer last year about doing abit of ferreting and pigeon shooting, conversions going well an he’s all for it ( I’m thinking mint, this is in the bag
  3. Iv not had loads of experience working lurchers at all (plenty with gun dogs) so I don’t know if it’s a fair point really or not if being not very controllable is typical of the cross. Would be interested to know what the lads experiences on here are with them in that department ??? But the beddy whippet greyhound I had was the most biddable and trainable dog iv ever owned , maybe I was just lucky with the one I had.
  4. Haha spot on ! Have u already got a pack like ??? Haha were are the pubs located ?? Do u know how much he wants for one???
  5. Yeh I would certainly be interested mate ?? look smart dogs both of em
  6. Yeh I couldn’t fault him mate , for me and what I wanted him for , think he was gonna be a good dog, real shame. Paid 180 quid for haha these covid prices are just bloody crazy , saw some the other day , first cross beagle whippet, 2500 , these people want there heads testing
  7. I’m not on Facebook, but the wife is so il have a look on hers ?definitely sounds like it’s worth looking into cheers bud ??
  8. Yeh I certainly couldn’t of been happier with that dog I lost. What really surprised me was the nose he had, and the way he would really work cover almost like a bloody gun dog haha at times frustrating as he would flush a rabbit or hare and not see it, as he had his nose down , but I certainly wasn’t gonna discourage it. As I say it’s first lurcher I’ve owned and the hunting cover like that was something i was not expecting. But yeh iv been trying to find the contact details of the guy I got him off, but I don’t think I ever actually had his number, I think we just spoke through gumtree , b

  11. Yeh was absolutely heart breaking , put a lot of time and effort into that dog. lost dogs before , but they were old and at the end of there life eh. This dog was just starting out, to see him smashed up they way he was hard to take, and to top it off the bloke drove off. But yeh I think it will be a beddy/collie greyhound mix is what I’m gonna go for. They way u have described them there is exactly what I’m after to be honest .
  12. Spot on thanks for the advice bud? Been looking for quite a while now , everything seems to be bull crosses at the moment , been looking in usual places, gumtree etc. They either seem to be crazy money like a grand plus , or like I say more of a bull cross type, witch I don’t think would really be suitable for me, as I’m just after a rabbit dog really . I don’t really know many out and out lurcher men to contact about it really as iv always been more involved in the shooting side of things.
  13. Hello everyone ? im new to the site , I put a post up yesterday In the Lurcher section an I don’t think it’s showing, was just wondering how the site works, will it just be somebody needs to approve it before people can see it or?? Not complaining just wondering how it works ???
  14. Alright lads just after abit of advice really . Im new to the Lurcher game , have always been around working dogs and have trained a couple of gun dogs to a decent standard, but as far as Lurchers go I don’t have much experience. I lost my first lurcher just before Christmas to a drunk driver flying through my village ( nearly knocking me over aswel) he was a Beddy whippet greyhound he was about 15 mounts old and I had just started to bring him on, he’d nailed a few bunnies in the daytime, an had just caught his first bunny on the lamp couple of nights before I lost him. I so enjoyed th
