  1. I don't really believe in such big dogs at all, at least not to REAL wild boars like we have in continental Europe. Here we used hounds for centuries, a pack of hounds to pursue one boar, wear it out and hold it at bay, then, one or more running dogs/catch dogs were sent in and a man came with a spear to finish it off. Now, numbers of boars have exploded over here and the Guns are boss so now we have sweep hunts. In most of Europe, running dogs are forbidden, even their crosses, hounds hunt too wide, so for the sweep hunts, small agile terriers with good noses turn out to be the very best. The
  2. Could you pm me the details please mate? Cheers We do it all the time, in the real wild in the Ardennes and the German Eiffel. I go in the drive (maize or thick cover) to chase out the boars with my terriers (small terriers are best as big or stupid ones get hit too hard and too often) and a knife, and each one my dogs have caught, I stab in the heart. 4. I am "Tearem", I have 10 terriers now and I have had terriers for 30 years, pitbulls, Staffs, crosses, Russells, patterdales, a Glen of Imaal, and now I have German and crossed German/Fell terriers. With my dogs I hunt every day I'm not working and we do over 50 hunting days a year, more like 70. We hunt wild boar, deer and stag from August till January, and beginning in December and sometimes in between during sweep hunts, we also do earth work. We work foxes from December till May. In Germany and France the badger has a legal season which is in the fall so we also do that. My terriers work b
  5. I have a male who is sort of oversexed and even harasses females which are not in heat. He hunts well but since he is taken on by several dogs while he was tracking, he sometimes fights too. Would neutering stop his bad habits and would he still hunt well after that?
