  3. hi folks, need some advice. i have a kit a got in this summer. she's coming to size now and i was wondering whats the best way to get them working happily. i am going to start putting the collar on her for a day or two to let her get used to it, but what way should i approach getting her to start bolting rabbits. thanks, stephen
  4. i have had the same problem with the kit i have at the moment and the one i brought up through the summer. what i did was pick them up and everytime the nipped i made a hiss sound right in the face. this works excellent so it does as they identify the sound with something that doesnt like being bitten. it took it right out of them completly. also spit on the palm of your hand when you handle them and let them lick it off. i guarantee these two methods will work great, i have seen the results myself first hand.

  8. there was an area i was hunting at the start of the year. it was literally like watership down. i had never seen so many rabbits in one area. well after the worst summer in over 40 years here in ireland the mixy has obliterated all of them. was out there yesterday. a one year old terreir was able to run them down and they were looking so sick it was unbeleivable. i put a few ferrets into the burrows but all we gor was one dead rabbit with mixy. there nothing left. its very sad
  9. quote] She will get used to the collar and will soon be running down the buries...Patience Grasshopper.. i know, i may excercise some patience i suppose. the real keller is being so patient with the first hob i had. i had him so tame that he would sit up on my shoulder as i walked around, and i wont even tell you about the piggy backs he used to get around on the back of my rottweiller, you wouldnt even beleive me! and to lose him on his first outing. very cruel thing to happen me
  10. hi folks, looking for some advice so i am. i went out with my albino hob last monday so i did, (and very follishly) without my locater collar. it was his first day out so i took him into a few dry burrows just to get him going, i did have a bell around his neck so i could hear him going about. well anyways pon the last burrow of the evening he went in and didnt come out. three hours i spent waiting but he bever showed so i went home quickly, got a kidney friom the fridge and left it in his box by the burrow and kept coming back that night looking but still there was no sign. i came back the n
  11. ok here goes. at the moment i dont have room for a new dog but im itching to get my first springer spanial, for everything between rough shooting, decoying, and wildfowling. now i know that it aint easy train a springer and what i have decided to do is to buy a one or two year old fully trained dog. From doing all this thinking, i have decided that im going to make my purchase in england or wales. I dont mind spending up to £800 for a dog, once i get my moneys worth. I was hoping that the UK members here would have some insight into this, and can anyone give me advice as to whether i am doing
