  1. Just herd on the radio that there has been two accidents on that exact stretch of road
  2. I was city bound on the westlink in belfast roughly half an hour a go when 2 cars in the left hand lane ahead of me slammed on the breaks. The second car narrowly missed the first, I slowed to walking pace moved to the right hand lane and passed them out and standing in the middle of the road was a young black lurcher. Id say a year or 18 months old, real racey and quite tall and looked a lot like a grey hound. The dog trotted up the road ahead of me for about 100 yards. It was clearly terrified so I pulled along side opend my door (still driving) trying to coax it in but it wouldnt come near.

Cheers boys Let you know how it goes. By the way do we not have any cops on here whod know the likely outcome?

    Speeding??

One of those vans with a camera in the back. My mate said because it was a saturday and no one was working on the road they may not bother with a 47. Considering other people were going much faster. When should I expect to hear? roughly.

    Speeding??

Yesterday I got clocked doing roughly 47mph in a 40mph roadworks zone. So basicly want to know what the chances of me geting done are? I honestly dont make a habit of speeding, just wasnt thinking
  7. Thanks T1C Is there any particular reason why modern authors dont write "how to" type books?
  8. Has anyone read either "Hunitng ducks and Geese" by Steve Smith or "Modern Waterfowling" by John C. Cartier? I am after a decent "how to" widfowling book as opposed to a story book. So any info on these two or any other good books would be appreciated. Thanks
  9. Just wondering if anyone has experience of kerry beagles? Ive read up a bit on the internet and it seems they are used more in competitive races following a laid trail cross country rather than for actual hunting. You would think here in Ireland where we dont have many native hound breeds they would be more popular Just adding that in the past they have been used to hunt hare, fox and deer (according to the internet anyway) Cheers

    Army life??

Thanks everyone, I didnt think I would get so much info As with every job there are some aspects of the army that would definitely attract me and others that put me of such as being posted far from home. I still have 1 year to do at school and then Il see what happens
  11. Any rough shooting lab we ever had hunted rabbit and fox naturally so Im sure if deer were present a good lab would flush them or track them after a shot.

realdeal is this true? Dont mean to offend Fjager but you didnt say if you had any military experince or not. Cheers
  14. I am basically after some info from past or present soldiers.First of all how does the army life fit in with hunting life? Are you able to go out as much as people in regular jobs or is time spent out in the field rare and far between? This may seem like a stupid question but do you have to live in a base all the time apart from when you have leave? Anyone who could give general info about army life it would be much appreciated
  15. No better feeling than that split second between pulling the trigger and a grey falling with a thud to the ground. I prefer to get into a good roost on a windy night than sniping them with a rifle. Best shot I ever made was a grey at 30 yards with a .410 in a strong wind. I was more shocked than he was
  16. Im my opinion magies are easiest to bag at this time of year. Mainly because you get them moving in groups of 5-6. The 2 parents and their young. Just listen they make a racket moving like this and you could hear them from 1 end of a farm to the other. The young arnt as wary of humans yet and their parents are reluctant to leave them. Most family groups have a spot they favour usualy where they roost. I get into position well before dusk with my semi-auto and wait for there return. If you manage to down 1 of them you are almost garunteed a few more shots as they call to their fallen mate. It i
  17. Doxhope still use this forum? If so theres no better man
  18. I didnt watch it all but every yote he cut free I was expecting it to bounce up and grap him. That would have been a better vid lol
  19. They had to come to Ireland to get a dog worth racing
  20. That bit when he throws the petrol round the other boy is funny. Its like the video of the police man giving a gun demo in a school and he shoots himself. Its on you tube.
  21. Unless her dog sustained any significant injuries tell her to calm the f**k down. Dogs fight, its just instinct so get over it. I had two alsations attack my lab a few months back but no serious wounds just a bit roughed up. I was pissed but I wouldnt go to the cops about dogs it just seems a bit petty to me. People that have dogs purely as pets do tend to rap them in cotton wool a bit so chances are she could make a big deal of it. Hope not tho mate
  22. Anyone else think we should have a "big book of dog names" on this site?
