3. Two less undertakers to worry about. Got these 2 today and had 2 yesterday. They make great decoys when laid out like the one on the right. An old boy i used to work with used to call them undertakers. He said they had black top hat & tails with a white shirt.
4. Great post molly, pictures are spot on.
5. Hi NC, welcome and i hope you enjoy your stay here. have a mooch around theres some interestin stuff if you delve deep enough.
6. They both worked well, nipper was the harder of the two. flint had a bit more upstairs, he hardly ever got knocked up and seemed to bolt more foxes than nipper but he wouldn't stay. Nipper on the other hand and killed several foxes by the time we got to him. At the time we netted or shot our foxes so flint was always first in.
7. Truth be known I can't remember, it was about 1986 but you are not the first to sudgest that he looked like a Brightmore dog. He was from lakey x patt sire and patt bitch. They where both from maryport cumbria.
8. After taking a verble beating and being told that the photographic image has been possible for 150 years (cheif you where right) the missus found some old pics if I can get them on here. Flint Nipper This was the unluckyest fox in Herefordshire. If you look through the fence you can see my dead bantam. When he jumped the fence his foot went between the sheep netting and the top strand of wire and twisted.

13. those black dogs are spot on mate.Thats the stamp i'm looking for, i was looking for a smooth black or choc but as others have said i may not have the luxury of choice. what line are they ? Have you bred them yourself or do you have contact for that stamp of dog.
14. Did it have a docked tail ? No his tail wasn't docked strange phenomenon he was born with a short tail !!!!! seems to be happening more and more just lately.
15. He does look tall. It has been said that the slower dog learns his trade well and at 18 months he hasn't missed the boat yet.
16. Wilf.....thanks for your input. I have been looking for a dog for a month or so. More actively now. You may be right about the luxury of choice, and i take your point entirely. Now is a good time for me but i did not want to buy the first pup i saw. I thought by talking to you guys i would find what is available and that could make my mind up for me. You also ask if I have Hunted Boar. No, I have watched Le Chasse take them but not taken part. Somethig for the future perhaps. Thanks RatSnatcher..... nice dog. She is deffo more like the build i like. Did you get her purely becau
17. Chief Yes i am say they where a part of daily life in my job. As for the rest of the first paragraph, nobody has talked about working terriers in the context of being sport or hobby. Pure speculation on your part. The second paragraph: At least we agree on something and I admire their Loyalty, and I have found time. The third paragraph: Will I find the "shangri La" strain here? The rest of your post is, at best waffle with no constructive content.
18. Thanks Topper They are more like the the dogs i have in mind. Narrower chest and longer legged, to me thay just appear more in proportion and athletic looking. Horses for corses comes to mind, It wouldn't do for us all to have the same taste would it. Chief: you can rest assured that if I wanted a terrier for pet or show I wouldn't be looking here. As for "the best working pup out there" peoples oppinions, tastes, and needs are different. When you talk to the owners they are all the best out there. And what you concider the best out there, will not be the view of some othe
19. RatSnatcher That is the type of dog i have seen when looking for a pup. There seems to be more bull in that line than i remember way back.[late 1980 s] They are hansome dogs, but broader than i was looking for.
20. Hi Chief. I get the impression from the tone of your post that you question me owning dogs before. Thats ok, but nobody told me that i had to have pictures of previous dogs to get a coment from a posting. instead i get you who has got no comment to my question at all. I will put it down to beginners luck and hope i can get some views from other people on the original post. And i will not ask the for photographic evidence before i agree or dissagree with their comments Ian,
21. i don't have any pics, no digy cameras then I had a patt dog from a middleton lakey x patt sire and patt bitch. A mate also had his litter brother and they where both black, smooth, With white blaze down his chest. Both pups took the build of the sire, Smaller than some of the dogs ive seen lately. Is it the Nuttall line that brings out the broad chest? or perhaps i havent seen enough to judge. Is there a blood line that produces a leaner patterdale type. Ian.
22. Thanks for all the pm's and suggestions. I have looked at 2 litters now but the parents of both litters are a bit heavier than i would like. Am i barking up the wrong tree here, 15 yrs ago i kept patterdales that where much leaner than the dogs I have seen today. 1st litter had nuttall blood from the sire and he was 12"tall just spannable and fairly round with a broad chest. 2nd litter, sire was a Harcombe blood line. 14"tall again just spannable but all in proportion, very strong dog. In both litters the pups appeared to have taken the fathers line. Do you think I should look fo
