  2. well after all the pigeon shooting we have been doing lately .we decided to have a go on the rabbits again bunnytickler joined us today his knowledge of wild life is unbelievable he as learnt me a lot over the years stuff you dont even consider or take into account while out shooting .we met ian (stoggy) around 9.15 and started on some bales with the young jill she worked the stack well and bolted a rabbit which ian accounted for (no ferrets shot here )we then moved on to a adjoining stubble field were stoggy accounted for another one . the day is looking good we then drove about

I decided to go have a go on the pigeons this morning it was a frosty start the wind was blowing from the south so I set up on the field with the cheap Chinese net covering the brolly the pigeon magnet was placed to the left with 15 decoys out 11 shells and 4 full bodied the first hour was quiet and I thought about moving but stuck it out .from 9am till 12.15 they came like rockets from as far as I could see. Rain and snow stopped me shooting ,I added 2 floaters and every bird I shot I just added to the pattern the dog had a good run out as usual. i took over a hour to pack up and the birds we
  8. Out ferreting again today on a new bit of land that a farmer has rented and asked me to ferret. So i met Ian (stoggy) this morning and we got stuck in putting nets down while it was still frosty. We had a good day with the owner of the land coming for a chat and ending up telling us we can shoot them on a night if we want.So as there are some thick hedges and lots of signs of rabbits we could not refuse and told him we would be back soon.We ended up with 16 rabbits and we had a good day out as usual the new ferrets are getting the jist. Ians hobs worked well again. havin

  12. well i decided to have a go again setting up on the rape field arrived at 10 am and got set up. the morning was rely slow not a lot about no big flocks just the odd bird decoying in ones and twos some of the birds decoyed from a long way out with full commitment so the hide must of been ok this is the second time i have tried this set up and would not hesitate to use it again ended the session with 27 and 1 crow + 2 on the magnet. the net is a cheap Chinese one off the internet and the colours blended in well the farmer is well happy again.
  13. Went out this morning to have a look at some rabbit warrens on some new perm with Ian which we will be ferreting another day. so decided to have a couple of hours this afternoon decoying pigeons. Not a lot about but we managed to get 17 woodpigeons and 8 ferals which will keep the ferrets fed.we put the Hide up at the front of a ditch with a thick bramble at the back a bit raggedy but it did the job well
  14. after yesterdays ferreting session i was talking to the farmer and he informed me he has 8 fields all rape all in the same plot so went and had a look today and there was plenty of pigeons there so should be having a good do the bonus is no walking as all the fields are accessible by tracks each side of the edges
  15. Out this morning with Ian having another go on the rabbits .I brought a couple of young ferrets to try again and they are catching on to it very quickly and they bolted a few. Ian brought his black eyed white hobbs (very good workers) We got most in the nets and only two were shot nice head shots by Ian.Finished the day on 13 rabbits and only had one quick shower of hailstones all day farmer well happy .
  16. well after yesterdays ferreting session i decided to have a go on the pigeons bit easier how wrong i was carried the decoying stuff about 200 yards 2 trips got set up for 10.30. 1 magnet and 11 shell decoys and the birds decoyed straight away the birds dried up about 12,30 but i stuck it out while 3.15 farmer well pleased ended up with 44 so 42 off to game dealer
  17. out today with Ian tried 2 new ferrets last years young (green as grass) just dint seem to have the hunting instinct wanting to mess about .Ian fetched 2 hobs which are very good workers we ended the day with 14 12 shot with 2 digs one 5ft one 4ft a lot more ferreting for us to do so should have some good days
  18. went and had a go on some rape this afternoon 17/01/2018 after been laid up with flue. The weather was terrible rain snow and blowing a gale i would have give it a miss but its new perm so i showed willing only managed 16 for 22 shots and picked 15 .i started off with plastic shells and 2 floaters which i placed rely low in a wheeling so they were bobbing up and down out of sight one minute then up in the air the next this seemed to work as the decoyed pigeons where heading for the floaters started at 1.20pm and finished at 3.40pm rely slow but farmer happy went out
